It’s close at the top of the premier division in the Sheldon and District Winter league, with Slatley Amateur Gardeners and Fordbridge Social both on 22 points from 14 games and just two points behind them comes the Highwood and St Annes. In their latest fixtures Saltley won 5-4 at RAFA, Fordbridge won by the same margin at home to St Anne’s and Highwood had a 6-3 win at Castle Vale Residents Association, D.Elliott having a 160 break for Castle Vale and B.Nixon hitting a maximum for Highwood.
Sheldon Heath hold pole position in division one on 20 points, their game against Vaughans was cancelled, but second placed Glebe Community Centre chalked up a 5-4 win at the Raven to draw level on points with Sheldon. In division two Banbury Club lead the field and enhanced their promotion odds with a convincing 8-1 win over Sedgemere Flights. Banbury’s nearest rivals Shard End RBL beat Old Bill and Bull 6-3, but remain two points behind the leaders and have played one game more.

The George head division one in the Harborne and District Winter league with a 100% win record, twelve wins from as many games, their latest win a straight 7-0 victory at the expense of Hobsons Choice. Hillyfields hold on to second spot with a close 4-3 success against W.C. WMC aided by a maximum from G.Joyce but remain four points adrift of the George. The Raven are third, a further three points behind. They won 4-3 at the Woodcock whose K.McKeown had breaks of 160 and 120 and C.Seery recorded an eight darts leg.
Biggest shock in division two was the defeat of Avenue Social by bottom of the table Highlander, who had previously only won one game. Avenue, now on 16 points have lost ground in the promotion battle, which sees Coopers Arms top on 20 points, the Pheasant second on 18 and then three teams, Cock Inn, Avenue Social and Harborne Stores all on 16.

Six teams make up the Small Heath Winter league and four of them are locked on the same six points at the top end of the table. The leading pair, Heartlands Club and Victoria 301 Club have both played four games and are level on both points and average. Then come Antelope and McVeighs, who have each played five but have lost two games. In the most recent matches Victoria beat Custard House 5-4 and by the same margin Heartlands lost their first points of the season to the Antelope. Mcveighs won 7-2 at the Gunmakers Arms.

The Winning Post narrowed the gap between them and the Globe at the top of division one of the Longwood Winter league to just one point this week. Playing at the Red Lion ’A’, Winning Post won 6-2, while leaders Globe could only manage a 4-4 draw at home to lowly Plough and Harrow.
The top two teams in division two both recorded wins, Mercian , who have played one more fixture than their nearest rivals Queens ’B’, won 5-3 against the Three Horse Shoes, while Queens ’B’ had a similar success over Cue Sports Club.

Although they played away Hobs Meadow gained an impressive 6-3 win over long term rivals Red Arrows in the premier division of the Forest of Arden Winter league. In their tie with Sheldon Heath Social Flights, Highwood Arrows went one better by chalking up a 7-2 victory, despite a 180 from Sheldon’s S.Palmer.
In the first division there was good and bad news for the two Greville teams as Arrows defeated Farringdon Social 5-4 and Arms went down 8-1 to Mackadown Social. P.Cornes had a 160 break for Farringdon. In the other fixture Hobs Meadow Mixes beat Harvester 5-4.
