Darts News – A West Midlands Round Up
The Kings Norton League are up to week five of their new campaign and of the fifteen starters only one team is able to boast a 100% win record and that is Northfield Darts Club. In the latest round of fixtures Northfield Darts Club had a 6-1 win playing away against Cock Inn giving them a perfect eight points from their four games so far. Second placed Perfection are also on eight points, they had a narrow 4-3 home win over Pavillions which was their fifth fixture. Like Perfection, third placed Dingle have also played five games, the latest of which saw them win 5-2 at home against Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club. After the top three teams, who are on eight points come five teams all on six points, Bournville. Bournbrook, Cock Inn, Stirchley and Greenlands.
There were two players that found the three treble twenties this week, L.O’Neill (Cock Inn) and M.Walsh (Bournville).

With very few fixtures remaining in the Heartlands Sugardarts M&E Co Double Top League, Matthew Cain has a commanding lead of sixteen points at the top of the table, his most recent fixtures saw him win 3-0 against Matt Richmond followed by a 2-1 success over John Burdett who recorded a maximum. Martin Cooper, with a 3-0 win against John Yates and 2-1 win over L.J.Austin is second on 136 points with two games in hand on Matthew Cain and two in hand on third placed Steve Cain who trails Cooper by nine points. So with Matthew Cooper having152 points and three more games to play, he is already acclaimed champion with Martin Cooper runner-up.

The majority of teams in the South West Birmingham Clubs League have three more fixtures to play and the title is still up for grabs effectively for either Stirchley United or Northfield Darts Club. Stirchley United are currently top with just a single leg of average lead on Northfield Darts Club, they lost their two points lead when they went down 4-3 at home to fifth placed Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’, Northfield Darts Club drawing level on points with the leaders with their 4-3 home win over Perfection. Mathematically, third, fourth and fifth placed Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club, West Heath CEM and Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ are still in with a shout, but the first two trail the top two by four points with only three games to play and Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’ have four games to play and are also four points adrift.
A 6-1 home win over Kings Norton Arrows keeps E57 two points clear at the top of division two, a similar 6-1 win for Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’ seeing them hold on to second place and keep within two points of third placed Kings Norton Arrows who have a game in hand on the two teams above them.

A 6-1 win at Moseley Arms sees Wakefield Warriors take their unbeaten run in the Camp Hill League to five games and gives them a two point’s lead over GGSB and Big Bulls Wanderers. GGSB won 5-2 at home against Shannons Rebels while Big Bulls Wanderers had a close 4-3 verdict away to Cotterills Lane EBAHA Club. Sheldon Marlborough Devils went down 5-2 at Rosey Mac’s and are the only team in the league without a win so far.

Third placed Northfield Darts Club have played twenty-eight games and are on the same forty-eight points as Northfield Darts Club.

For only the second time in twenty-four games, Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ lost in the Netherton Thursday Night 501 League. The defeat could actually cost them the league title as their victors were second placed Ashwood, who are now only one win, three points, behind the Ex Serviceman’s Club with two games in hand. Helping Ashwood to their win were Ben Hughes and Joe Poole who both chalked up maximums. Third in the league Old Liberal Club have played one game more than Ashwood, their 7-2 home win over Haden Cross leaving them six points behind Ashwood and nine fewer than the the Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’

The Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League have increased their numbers from twenty, last season to twenty-three this season and as a result have divided the league into two divisions. The league is up to week two and four of the twelve teams in division one are undefeated with Old Liberal Club leading the way on average, their latest fixture seeing them win 7-2 at home against New Inn to give them a two legs of average lead on second placed Chapel House ‘A’ who won their home tie with Lamp Tavern 6-3. Stump and Hilly House ‘A’ make up the top four and in turn they won 6-3 against Royal and Parkes Hall.
There are eleven teams in division two and like in division one, there are four unbeaten teams. Rising Sun and White Lion share the number one spot, both winning 6-3, the former against Fountain Inn and the latter against Gospel Oak. Third placed Jolly Crispin have only played and won one game as they had a bye this week and sixth placed Cabin ‘B’, who had a bye last week, won 5-4 at Kingswinford British Legion.

No change in the top three teams in the Silver End Sunday Morning League as leaders High Acres ‘A’ added a 6-2 home win over Pensnett Liberal Club to put them on thirty-seven points and second placed Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’ won by the same 6-2 margin at New Talbot to give them a total of thirty-three points. Third placed Old Star ‘A’, in their home game against Tenth Lock, won 5-3 to take their points tally to thirty-one, both the Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘B’ and Old Star ‘A’ have a game in hand on the leaders.

A narrow 4-3 win at Swan was enough to keep Raven top of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League with eighteen points from eleven games. Second in the league Chop House have also played eleven games, and their latest 5-2 home win over Netherton Conservative Club keeps them within two points of the top side. The next four teams in the table are all on the same sixteen points as Chop House but have played one game fewer, and they are Old Liberal Club ‘A’, Stourbridge FC Youth, Stourbridge FC ‘A’ and Ashwood. At the other end of the table Old Liberal Club ‘B’ and Stourbridge FC ‘B’ have both played ten games and are still seeking their first points of the season

The top three teams in the Black Country Men’s Super League have all played seven games with Hot Shots topping the table with twenty-nine points after adding on their latest, first defeat of the campaign, a 3-2 defeat away to fifth placed Double Tops Micro Bar. However, despite the reversal, Hot Shots hold on to pole position with a single point lead on second placed Cue and Nrew who had a straight 5-0 home win over Lamp Tavern. New Inn are third and won 4-1 at home against Townsend Social to put them on twenty-four points, two more than Allen’s Bar, Double Tops Micro Bar and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club, Allen’s and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s have only played six games.

With Evonne Taylor, leader of the West Midlands Ladies Super League, not playing this week she has dropped down to third place and taking over at the top of the table is Gemma Barrett after her 3-1 win over Jacqui Simmons and 3-2 win against Eloise Milburn which takes her points to rwenty, from five unbeaten games. Second placed Jacqueline Maiden won 3-1 against Hannah Davies to give her the same twenty points as Barrett but from six games. Although third, Evonne Taylor is on sixteen points, four off the top but with a game in hand on Barrett and two in hand on Maiden.

After their opening six wins in the West Midlands Men’s Super League, Hot Shots were brought back down to earth in game seven as they lost 5-0 playing away against Dog and Partridge, however despite the defeat they remain top of the table on twenty-nine points, one more than second placed Cue and Brew. Third in the league New Inn are on twenty-four points and then come three teams, Allen’s Bar, Double Tops Micro Bar and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club, all on twenty-two points.

An 8-1 home win over Hawthorns took Bell’s undefeated run in division one of the Rowley Monday Night League to nineteen games and keeps intact their four points lead on their nearest rival Gate Hangs Well who won their away game against Tividale FC 5-4. After the top two there is a gap of fourteen points to Wheatsheaf, Whiteheath Tavern, Wonder and Romsley Cricket Club who are all on twenty points.
J.Gibbs (Albion) and M.Crumpton (Whiteheath Tavern) both hit a maximum.
In division two Bostin Darts ‘B’ top the league table with thirty-six points from nineteen games. In the most recent fixtures the leaders had a bye, second placed Double Tops Micro Bar reducing the arrears totwo points with a 5-4 home win over Vine.
There were 180’s from L.Poultney (Commbs Wood) and P.Glennon (Huntingtree).

A 7-2 win against Ivy Bush keeps Whiteheath Tavern well on track to take the title in the John Edwards Thursday Night League as they have fifty-two points and although second placed Bostin Darts ‘B’ are on the same number of points after their 6-3 win over Club 99, they have played one game more than Whiteheath with three more games to play, Whiteheath having four.

Scott Baker, reigning division one champion in the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League, is on course for retaining his title, he is currently on 189 points from twenty-two games, has a five points lead over second placed Simon Pritchard but crucially also has five games in hand.
It looks as though Wayne Barratt will take the division two title as his 220 points are eighteen more than his nearest rival Neville Quinton with both players having played twenty-eight games.

Games are fast running out now in the Amblecote RBL Premier League and although Jason Lowe has played fifty-one games and second placed Nick Fullwell forty-nine, Lowe is well and truly on the way to clinching the title as he has a massive fifty-seven points lead. A special well done to Mark Nassralla who this week won 5-2 against Chris Pickett, this was Nassralla’s first win in forty-three games.

Twenty-two teams joined the new season of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League and in the singles league there are eight teams, Junction ‘B’, New Gate Inn, Ashmore, Dog and Partridge, Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’, Castle, Gilbert’s Bar ‘A’ and Red Lion ‘B’ who have won both games.
In the singles league there are only five undefeated teams, Angel, Dog and Partridge, Junction ‘B’, Garden Bar and Red Lion ‘B’.
