Darts News – A West Midlands Round Up

This coming weekend, Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be playing their penultimate fixture in the Premier Division of the UKDA National League, an away game against Essex at the Chelmsford Social Club, 55 Springfield Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 6JG. The home side are currently placed sixth in the division with 157 points while Warwickshire are one place above them and have one single point more. In the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division of the UKDA National League, West Midlands will be playing hosts to Gwent, both teams are currently in a mid-table position, West Midlands fifth on 161 points from seven games and Gwent sixth with 156 points from eight games. West Midlands will be hoping home advantage will be the difference and help them move up the table, closer to leaders Middlesex who are on 185 points from their eight games.

Black Country, like their neighbours West Midlands will be playing a game against a team who are next to them in the table, their latest fixture in the L-Style Division One of the UDA National League being a home tie against Devon who are placed seventh on 146 points while Black Country are eighth on the same 146 points, both teams having played eight games. Black Country have been slowly dropping down the table of late but a win this weekend could possibly see them move up a couple of places in the table if results go their way.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have been engaged in their Divisional League Cup finals, in the premier league final, current league leaders Langley Arrows had a narrow 5-4 win over Sheldon Marlborough Arrows who are second in the division on the same twenty-six points as their opponents. Both Richard Mills and Paul Nixon hit a maximum for Langley Arrows while Neil Parsonage recorded a nine darts game for Sheldon Marlborough Arrows.

In the division one final third placed Trident Spears had a somewhat comfortable 7-2 win over Station Inn who are bottom of the division with just two wins from their seventeen games.

Shirley Misfits and Maggies battled it out for the division two title with the 6-3 result going to Shirley Misfits, a somewhat shock result as the Misfits are fifth in the division and their opponents second.

There were a couple of rearranged league fixtures played, in the premier league, sixth in the table Kingshurst Labour Club lost their home game against fifth placed RAFA 6-3 with Ben Proctor hitting a maximum for Kingshurst and John Smyth emulating that for RAFA. Kingshurst remain in sixth place while RAFA move up one place to fourth.

In the division one game, second placed Banbury Club won their home fixture with fourth placed Sheldon Marlborough Ridge 5-4, both teams remaining in the same positions.

The results from game twenty in the Kings Norton League had no effect on the league table whatsoever, leaders Northfield had a 5-2 home win over sixth placed Dingle to extend their undefeated run to twenty games and put them on a perfect forty points from their twenty games. Second placed Greenlands also won 5-2 at home against E57 to leave them ten points short of Northfield with just the one game in hand. Bournebrook are third, they have played twenty games and are two points behind Greenlands after adding on their latest 5-2 win at Longbridge

There were maximums for T.Garfield (Greenlands) and J.O’Neill ( Northfield).

Once again it’s all-change at the top of the Heartlands Sugardarts M&E Co Double Top League, former leader Martin Cooper not playing this week and as a result dropping to fourth place on sixty-seven points from twenty-seven games. Taking over in pole position is Matthew Cain after he won 3-0 against Stephen Smith, Ellis Gundy and Sue John to give him a total of seventy-five points from his twenty-nine games. Steve Cain moves up one place to second on sixty-eight points from twenty-eight games after his latest 2-1 wins over Dylan Bloomer and third placed Ryan Cain. Prior to his defeat to Steve Cain, Ryan Cain had a 2-1 win over Ryan Barritt and a 3-0 success against Matt Ryan to give him a similar total of sixty-eight points as Steve Cain but from thirty-one games.

Just three rearranged fixtures played in the South West Birmingham Clubs League this week, in division one third placed Stirchley United played hosts to fifth in the division Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club, the outcome, a 4-4 draw with Stirchley’s K.Webb recording a 160 break.

In division two, leaders West Heath CEM, played at home and handed out an 8-0 whitewash to their bottom of the table opponents Longbridge Supremes to give them a four point’s advantage over second in the division E57. Next to bottom of the table Longbridge Arrows played hosts to Bartley Green FC, the 6-2 result going in favour of Bartley Green FC, leaving them six points behind leaders West Heath CEM and two short of E57.

In the division one pre-match doubles table, Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club lead the way with 128 points and have a lead of six over their nearest rivals Stirchley United.

In the division two pre-match doubles table West Heath CEM lead the way on 119 points and are ten points to the good on second placed Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’.

The top four teams in division one of the Sutton and District League are as-you-were after completing game seventeen, Highcroft Hotdogs holding on to pole position with thirty points after their 7-2 home win over Drakes Drum to maintain their four points lead over Nomads @ Hollyfields, Old Horns Lions and Bishop Vesey. Nomads @ Hollyfields had a 5-4 win at St Thomas Lions, Old Horns Lions won by the same margin at Erdington Arrows and Bishop Vesey had a convincing 8-1 win at Rosey Mac’s.

There was a maximum for A.Lilley (Drakes Drum) and for his team-mate, J.Lockley, he had a 160 break.

Rise Club made it seventeen wins in as many games in division two to top the table with thirty-four points, eight more than second and third placed Great Barr Social and Pint Pot Flights. Rise Club won their home game with Rosey Mac’s Bar 6-3, Great Barr Social winning by the same margin at home against Deer’s Leap and making it 6-3 wins for all of the top three teams, Pint Pot Flights won at home against Sutton Sharks.

D.Hughes (Plough and Harrow) was in fine form not only finding the three treble twenties but also recording a nine darts game.

The Rowley Monday Night League are up to game eight and leading the way in division one is the Bell, their latest home fixture seeing them win 5-4 against Snooks to keep intact their undefeated run and at the same time their four points lead over second placed Gate Hagns Well who were 6-3 winners at Hawthorns Tavern. Third and fourth placed Wonder and Tividale FC are both on ten points, six off the top after Wonder won 5-4 at home against Bostin Darts ‘A’ and Tividale FC had a 6-3 home win over Wheatsheaf.

There were two maximums in division one, T.Pike (Romsley Cricket Club) and A.Bunce (Bostin Darts ‘A’), Romsley going down 5-4 at Whiteheath Tavern.

Bostin Darts ‘B’ lead the way in division two, their latest 6-3 home win over Waterfall taking their unbeaten run to eight games, their perfect sixteen points two more than second placed Double Tops Micro Bar who won their home game against third placed Bostin Darts ‘C’ 7-2 to put them two points ahead of their visitors. Loyal Lodge make up the top four, they are on ten points, six fewer than the leaders after their most recent game which they lost 5-4 at Huntingtree.

With only four more fixtures to play in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League, leaders Quarry Bank Liberal Club had a tough away game against second in the league Red Cow ‘1’. The result was a narrow 5-4 win for Quarry Bank Liberal Club to see them open up a six points lead on their hosts. There is a further four points gap to third placed Gornal British Legion who had a 6-3 home win over Cabin ‘1’ to remain four points ahead of fourth placed Netherton Sports and Social Club who, like the leaders also had a close 5-4 win at Stump. Fifth and sixth in the league Bulls Head and Wheatsheaf are a huge twenty points off the top of the table, the former winning 6-3 at home against Hilly House and the latter handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts, bottom of the league, Red Lion.

Just the two rearranged fixtures played in the Netherton Thursday Night 501 League which saw second in the league Rose and Crown (Wordsley), with a maximum from Ellie Kitley, win 7-2 at home against seventh placed Townsend Social Club. Third in the table Old Liberal Club had a home tie with fourth placed Plough and Harrow which they won 5-4 to leave them nine points behind leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club but with a game in hand, Rose and Crown (Wordsley) also have a game in hand on the leaders and they are six points adrift. Nick Fullwell (Old Liberal Club) hit two maximums in his team’s win while Reece Hodgetts got one for Plough and Harrow,

After playing the latest fixtures there was no change in the Black Country Men’s Super League league table with Allen’s Bar ‘A’ holding on to the number one spot, despite not playing this week, with 118 points, they have a two points lead, plus a game in hand on second placed Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club who had a 3-2 home win over Townsend Social to keep them four points ahead of third placed Quarry Bank Liberal Club, who also won their home game with High Acres 3-2.

As the West Midlands Men’s Super League moves into the second half of its season Staffordshire Knot consolidated their pole position with a 5-0 home win over Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ to put them four points ahead of their nearest rivals Kings Head who also handed out a 5-0 whitewash to their visitors Junction ‘B’. After the top two there is a gap of seven points to third placed Dog and Partridge who lost ground in the title race as they lost 3-2 at Junction ‘A’ who are fourth in the table and on fifty-eight points. Fifth placed Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club had a 3-2 home win over Chase Social to leave them on the same fifty points as Junction ‘A’.

Results for game thirty-three in the singles league of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League did not change the top six positions with Junction ‘B’ adding a 7-0 win over Bradmore Arms to their tally to keep them well and truly top of the table with sixty-six points and a lead of eight over second in the division Dog and Partridge ‘B’ who had a narrow 4-3 win away to fifth placed Golden Lion ‘A’. Third placed Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ won 4-3 at Woodfield, but are twelve points off the top and four short of Dog and Partridge ‘B’.

After a 3-0 home win over Bradmore Arms, Junction ‘B’ also top the doubles league table with fifty-two points, however they are only top on average as second placed Golden Lion ‘A’ had a 2-1 home win against Dog and Partridge ‘B’ to put them on the same fifty-two points as the leaders.
