Darts News – A West Midlands Round Up
The Sheldon and District Winter League is fast drawing to an end but the premier league title is still up for grabs as the top two teams, Langley Arrows and Sheldon Marlborough Arrows, are both on twenty-six points from fifteen games with one to play, and that one outstanding fixture is against each other which will be played on 4th June and decide who will lift the winners silverware. In the latest fixtures both Langley Arrows and Sheldon Marlborough Arrows had 8-1 wins against respective opponents Dog Inn Nomads and Brian’s Flights while third placed Highwood, who are also on twenty-six points, have completed their programme and had a bye. Sam Hicks (RAFA) was the only player in the division to score a maximum in his team’s 6-3 home win over Kingshurst Labour Club. Smithswood Social have one more game to play, a home tie against next to bottom Mackadown Sports and Social Club, but whatever the result, Smithswood will finish in the bottom spot.
The shadow league title will almost certainly go to Kingshurst Labour Club who despite being on the same four points as their nearest rival Brian’s Flights, they have the superior average.
With one more fixture to play, an away game against Sheldon Marlboro Ridge, RAFA Arrows have already won the division one title, their thirty points are four more than second placed Banbury Club who also have just one more game to play, a home tie with Sheldon Marlboro Ridge which will see them finish as runners-up irrespective of the outcome.
Station Inn will finish at the foot of the table, their four points six fewer than the team directly above them Yardley Ex Colts.
Long-time leaders of division two, Langley Pints, have two remaining fixtures, and they are both with second placed Maggies who have a third game to play with CBMC-A and mathematically could still finish top of the table on average, however, just one defeat to Langley Pints would give Pints the title and Maggies finish as runners-up.
With one more fixture to play, a home game against Hunters Moon, Trident Flights, who are four points adrift of the team above them Castle Bromwich Spitfires, will take the wooden spoon, they are currently the only team in the league without a single point.
