Game number eight for Lancashire in the Cosmo Darts UKDA National Premier League saw them increase their lead at the top of the table with a 22-14 away win over Staffordshire, their 198 points saw them increase their advantage over second placed Yorkshire from twenty-three to thirty-two points as their nearest rivals faltered when they lost their home tie with Warwickshire 20-16. Cornwall had a bye and as a result dropped three places in the table to sixth on 137 points, taking over in their former third place is Glamorgan who had a 24-12 home win over Hampshire to put them on 149 points just four to the good on fourth placed Warwickshire who have a game in hand on them.

Top average for the men’s ‘A’ went to Yorkshire’s Tom Sykes whose 4-3 win over Warwickshire’s Jamie Hughes gave him a 31.51 average, Warwickshire’s Kevin Dowling not far behind Sykes with his 31.44 average and similar 4-3 win over Martin C Atkins. For the ladies ‘A’ Glamorgan’s Eve Watson topped the charts with her 25.47 average and 3-0 win against Hampshire’s Jane Monaghan, once again there was a close runner-up with Sally Whiting (Yorkshire) averaging 25.43 in her 3-1 win over Hannah Meek (Warwickshire). For the ‘B’ teams Humberside’s Scott Williams took the men’s award for his 4-0 success against Dorset’s Jaydon Walker while a 23-12 average and 3-0 win for Claire Crocombe against Hampshire’s Emily Pratt was the ladies ‘B’ top average.

In the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division leaders Hertfordshire had a convincing 25-11 home win over bottom of the division Cleveland to take their points tally to 171 and extend their lead over second placed London from five to nine points after London won their home tie with Northamptonshire 21-15. Despite their defeat Northamptonshire hold on to third place with 147 points as fourth in the division Cambridgeshire lost 20-16 at home to Kent leaving them two points short of Northamptonshire but with a game in hand. With no changes in the top five position Kent remain fifth with 144 points and like Cambridgeshire have a game in hand on Northamptonshire.

A 32-86 average and 4-1 win over Keith Montgomery (Kent) put Cambridgeshire’s Dennis Harbour top of the men’s ‘A’ averages while top player for the ladies ‘A’ was London’s Felicia Blay who beat Rebecca Rose (Northamptonshire) 3-0 with a tremendous 27.33 average. The men’s ‘B’ top player was Sussex man Robert Metcalf who in his 4-1 win over Cheshire’s Michael Blaise averaged 29.70. The ladies ‘B’ top average of 21.78 was shared by two players Cambridgeshire’s Claire Brookin and Kent’s Millie Packer-Wood both ladies winning 3-0 in turn against Tina Kennard (Kent) and Pauline Donat (Cambridgeshire).

Although leaders of the L-Style Division One Suffolk had a close 19-17 home win it was an important win as their opponents were, at the time their nearest rivals Gwent. The win takes Suffolk’s points to 191 and their opponents, who drop one place to third, are on 157, but from one game fewer than Suffolk. Replacing Gwent in second place is Berkshire who won their home fixture with Tyne and Wear 21-15, however they still trail the leaders by a huge thirty-one points. Tyne and Wear despite their defeat move off the foot of the table to be replaced by Gwynedd who had a bye, Gwynedd’s 106 points two short of Tyne and Wear who are just above them. Leicestershire’s 22-14 home win over Buckinghamshire has seen them move up into the top four with 153 points.

Leicestershire provided two of the top averages in division one, Andrew Hibbert taking the men’s ‘A’ with a 30.36 average and 4-0 win against Martin Hill (Buckinghamshire) and Trish Robert the ladies ‘B’ with her 3-1 win over Janet Weedon (Buckinghamshire) and 18.79 average. Black Country provided the men’s ‘B’ top average their Connor Whitehouse chalking up a superb 32.67 average in his 3-0 win over Somerset’s Lee Gregory while Suffolk’s Jo Locke was the ladies ‘A’ top player, her super 23.48 average and 3-0 win against Gwent’s Shannon Chappell earning her the award.

No Change in the top two places in division two with leaders Clwyd adding a 23-13 home win over Norfolk to their account to give them a total of 163 points, however they have had their lead reduced by two points and now only have a four points advantage over second placed Middlesex after they won 25-11 away to bottom of the division West of England. Salopian’s 21-15 defeat away to Nottinghamshire has cost them their third place as they drop to fourth on 144 points, five behind Wiltshire who have taken over the number three spot after winning 21-15 at home against Surrey.

Despite their defeat at Nottinghamshire, Salopian took two of the division’s top averages as Shaun Price with a great 31.98 average beat Steve Johnson (Nottinghamshire) 3-0 and Evonne Taylor with a 25.47 average and 3-0 result against Sarah Brent (Nottinghamshire) took the ladies ‘A’ award. The encounter included all four top averages as Nottinghamshire replied with their Tom Allies taking the men’s ‘A’ top average of 31.31 in his 4-0 win over Steven Ritchie (Salopian) while their Jan Schofield won the ‘ladies ‘B’ averages beating Salopian’s Cally Jones 3-0 with an average of 19.78.

The latest fixtures brought about no changes in the top three places in division three with leaders Northumberland having a comfortable 24-12 home win over Breconshire, second placed Cumbria handing ut a huge 30-6 defeat to their visitors Pembrokeshire to put them on 179 points and leave them just thirteen points behind Northumberland with a game in hand. Breconshire are placed third but after their defeat at Northumberland are twenty-four points behind of Cumbria and thirty-seven short of the leaders.

Gloucestershire had a close 19-17 home win over Bedfordshire and they were also able to boast two of the division’s top averages as their Steve Handley won the men’s ‘A’ with his 32.85 average and 4-0 win over Ben Hazel (Bedfordshire) and Pete Smith took the men’s ‘B’ award with his 27.33 average and 3-0 win over Keith Hill, again from Bedfordshire. The top ladies ‘A’ player was Wirral’s Kim Holden, her 3-0 win over Montgomery and Radnor’s Susie Lewis giving her a 20.59 average. Northumberland’s Ange Best had an 18.26 average and 3-1 win against Breconshire’s Carol Bufton for the top ladies ‘B’ average.

Warwickshire County Darts Organisation began their new campaign in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League with three opening defeats but since then have chalked up four consecutive victories, the latest of which could not have been more morale boosting as it was a 20-16 away win over second in the division Yorkshire.

Yorkshire, whether home or away is never an easy fixture but the weekend began with the visitors taking a 4-2 lead by defeating the home team’s ladies ‘B’. However it was the hosts who were first off the mark as their Jane Hawtin after trailing 1-0 and 2-1 won 3-2 against Denise Keyte. A straight 3-0 win from Warwickshire’s lady of the match Chloe McKivett-Saunders levelled the score, Chloe beating Lyn Horne with a 19.27 average. Nina Bolt gave the away side the lead for the first time in the third when she accounted for Jody Hancock with a 31- result and Wendy Adams, after going 2-0 down to Sonia Porter bounced back to win 3-2 and take the visitors lead to 3-1. The home team pulled one back in the penultimate game, Linda Moorhouse winning 3-2 against Melanie Jones but the 4-2 win was achieved in the final game when Angela Jones beat Ann Waslin 3-1.

As the men’s ‘B’ game got underway Mark Carter (Warwickshire) lost the opening two legs to John Walton but stuck to the task and went on to win 4-2 before Yorkshire strung together four consecutive wins thanks to Keiran Evans Keith Flint, Garry Simpson and Josh Clough who in turn won against Mark Martin (4-3), Scott Hope (4-0), Noah Rose (4-0) and Karl Reynolds (4-1). William Naylor stopped the rot in the final game of the first half beating Ash Taylor 4-1 after Taylor had won the opening leg.

Yorkshire were first out of the blocks as the second half kicked-off James Robins winning 4-1 against Mark Strong to give the hosts a 5-2 lead. A man of the man performance from Martin Tonks put a halt on Yorkshire’s charge, Tonks winning 4-1 against David Calvert with a 29.39 average and winning legs of 18,15,17 and 19 darts. Steve Blower assured the home side of at least a draw when he won 4-0 against Ian Shaw but the win was put off until the final game as Warwickshire’s Dave Hill won 4-1 against Adi Morris and Hill’s team-mate Adam Hancock won 4-0 against Jack Hill. The final encounter of the day saw Samuel Price go 2-0 up against Yorkshire’s Graham Elvidge and although Elvidge won the third Price made it 3-1 in the fourth. In 14,18 and 18 darts the last three legs all went to Elvidge to give him a very close 4-3 win and his team also a close 7-5 victory.

Sunday’s games got off to a good start for Warwickshire ladies ‘A’ as Kirsty Hinchliffe won 3-0 against Marie Fitton and Marian Conway doubled the lead with her 3-2 success over Jayne Conboy. Then from 2-0 up the away team trailed 3-2 as Michelle Binns won 3-1 against Donna Pinch, Emma Lockwood beat Caroline Pike 3-0 and Sally Whiting added her 3-1 win over Hannah Meek. Fortunately on the day Warwickshire had saved their best till last as their lady of the match Courtney Hine accounted for Linda Porter with a 3-1 result and a 21.61 average to put the final score at 3-3.

Any sort of win from Warwickshire’s men’s ‘A’ would now secure an overall victory and getting them off to a fantastic start were Jenson Walker, Nigel Heydon, Danny Lauby, Kevin Dowling and Samuel Whittaker. Jenson Walker beat Alex Jacques 4-2, Nigel Heydon won 4-0 against Graham Elvidge before Warwickshire’s first-ever American player Danny Lauby won his debut game against Sam Spivey 4-1. Lauby was then followed by the away team’s man of the match Kevin Dowling who had a 4-2 win over Martin C Atkins with winning legs of 15,15,14 and 19 darts which include outshots of 157 and 110 to give him a superb 31.44 average. Rounding off the opening five wins was Samuel Whittaker who had a 4-2 success against Jacob Gwynne. It was the last game of the half before Yorkshire got their first stripe on the board, Brian Hallas winning 4-0 against Gareth Braham.

Reducing the deficit further were Danny Dutson and Tom Sykes as Dutson beat Lee Miller 4-3 and Yorkshire’s Sykes won by the same 4-3 margin against Jamie Hughes with a 31.51 average. A draw for Warwickshire was guaranteed in the ninth when Matty Washbrooke won 4-3 against Adam Warner, Warner going from 1-0 down to 3-1 up before losing the last three legs as Washbrooke cemented his win with a tremendous 160 game shot in the deciding leg with his opponent down to double sixteen. Carl Wilkinson kept the faint hopes of a draw alive for the hosts when he won 4-1 against Noel Grant taking the score to 6-4 in Warwickshire’s favour but the win was secured in the tenth when Steve Hine beat Peter Jacques 4-3 and the final score taken to 8-4 to Warwickshire when Jack Wareing won 4-1 against Andy Harland.

The overall 20-16 win sees Warwickshire hold on to fourth position but despite Glamorgan’s 24-12 home win over Hampshire they are now only four points behind them with a game in hand.

In the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division West Midlands had an away game against Oxfordshire, the fixture vital to both teams as prior to the game the home side were lying next to bottom of the table and the away team just above them and although there was fourteen points separating them Oxfordshire had played one game fewer than West Midlands.

Shellbie Simmons gave West Midlands a bright start when she not only won 3-2 against Babs Manning but also earned herself the match award for her 17.95 average. Jaine Telling cancelled out Shellbie’s win when she beat Gemma Barrett 3-0 but the visitors went ahead again in the third when Kelly Doleman won 3-2 against Caroline Caldicott. For a second time parity was restored when in the fourth Julie Laverack (Oxfordshire) beat Debbie Davies 3-0 and with a 3-2 win for Irene Richardson over Julie Emery the home side were in front for the first time in the game. The final game went to the wire with West Midlands Crysta Wilcox getting the 3-2 verdict over Sandra Cox to put the final score all-square at 3-3.

The men’s ‘B’ could not have asked for a better start as they opened up a commanding 5-0 lead, the opening four players Kevin Bambrick, Mark Craddock, Ian Stanton and Ryan Locker all winning 4-0 in turn against Stephen Pearce, John Hughes, Mark Burns and Matthew Aust. Making it 5-0 was the away team’s man of the match Scott Baker who won 4-1 against James Green and averaged 27.81. The home side pulled one back before the break when Kevin Taylor won 4-1 against Daniel Hands.

It only took the first two games of the second half for West Midlands to move into a winning position as Kieran O’Mahoney and Adam Teasdale beat respective opponents Jack Marshall and Aaron Stevens 4-3 to put the visitors 7-1 up. In the ninth Luke Stallwood added the home team’s second win when he beat Karl Hughes 4-2 only to see West Midlands then go 8-2 up when Alex Simmons added his 4-1 success over Robert Adnams to their tally. The final two games both went to Oxfordshire as Brandon Richardson won 4-0 against Paul Price and Ade Larner won 4-2 against Glen McGrandle to take the final score to 8-4 to West Midlands giving them an overall 11-7 lead for the day.

As in the ladies ‘B’ game the West Midlands ladies ‘A’ began with a lady of the match display from their Jacqueline Trott who won 3-0 against Nicola Curzon and averaged 15.99. The lead however quickly changed hands as Sue Burns and Emily Baldwin in turn won 3-1 against Claire Hobbs and Jacqueline Simmons to put Oxfordshire 2-1 up. A 3-0 win from Jacqueline Maiden over Emma Manning levelled the score only to see the home side go 3-2 up when Deta Hedman won 3-0 against Tara Simmons-Fullwood and with a similar 3-0 win for Karen Williams in the final game against Jodie Rowlands the home side had won 4-2.

With a lead of 13-11 the West Midlands required just six wins from the men’s ‘A’ to earn an overall victory for the weekend but by the midway stage they were trailing 4-2. Preban Krabben gave the hosts the early lead when he won 4-3 against Ben Johnson, a 4-0 win and man of the match performance from West Midlands veteran Ian Jones levelled the game, Jones averaging 26.37. Steve Dennett restored Oxfordshire’s lead when he won 4-3 against Dean Simmons-Fullwood and with a further 4-0 success for Shane Turner over Darren Williams the home team had a 3-1 lead. Jack Aldridge’s 4-2 win against Chris Howse momentarily reduced the arrears only to see the half finish with a 4-3 win for Graham Earwicker over Rob Thompson to take the score to 4-2.

Keeping the Midlanders in the game was Ash Khayat who had a 4-3 win over Alex Ward before the home team rattled off three match winnings victories from Sean Holley. Andrew Quinn and Kevin Lowe who in turn defeated Shaun Carroll (4-1), Richard Platt (4-3) and Ryan O’Connor (4-1) to give Oxfordshire men’s ‘A’ an unassailable 7-3 lead. Gavin Baker made the score a little more respectable when in the penultimate encounter he beat Andrew Charlett 4-2 but the final 8-4 result went to the hosts when Stephen Wright won 4-3 against Michael Baker.

The overall result for the weekend was a 19-17 win for Oxfordshire which sees them remain next to bottom of the table while West Midlands moved up one place to eighth on 121 points, nine more than their opponents and seven to the good on ninth placed Derbyshire but both Derbyshire and Oxfordshire have a game in hand on West Midlands.

Black Country began their season in the L-Style Division One with three straight wins but in the last three fixtures they have lost, won and drawn to see them drop from a one-time pole position to now sixth in the table and although they have a game in hand on the current leaders Suffolk they are a huge forty-five points behind them. Black Country’s latest fixture was a home game against seventh in the division Somerset who were fourteen points adrift of their hosts, this was a game which with home advantage Black Country were expected to win.

It was not a weekend to remember for the ladies as the ‘B’ side went down 4-2 on Saturday and the ‘A’ team lost 5-1 on Sunday and it all began so well as lady of the match for the ‘B’ side Grace Angell won the opener 3-0 against Sophia Smith with a 17.08 average and was followed by Lacey Hughes who doubled the home team’s lead when she won 3-1 against Zoe Gitsham. That however was to be the only two winners as Somerset’s Shelley Blackman, Lea Ford, Samantha Werrett and Kay Bisset beat respective opponents Paige Robbins (3-0), Stella Sims (3-1), Abbey Hunt (3-2) and Doreen Hunt 3-0).

The Ladies ‘A’ were 4-0 down and lost the match before getting their one and only winner on the board as Somerset’s first on Karen Littler beat Heather Wright 3-1, Sally Smith won 3-0 against Leanne Wilson and with 3-1 wins from Tracey Stiling and Donna Gullock in turn over Tammy Chance and Amy-Leigh Tolley it was game over. Chez Allcock produced Black Country’s only win when in the penultimate game she won 3-2 against Becky Taylor with a 19.46 average. The final game took Somerset to a 5-1 victory when Kate Hulme beat Maxine Prosser 3-1.

The first four games of the men’s ‘B’ match all finished with a 3-1 scoreline with three of them going to Black Country. The opening game saw Ian Townsend give the hosts the early lead when he won against Lee Frampton. Michael Fenton replied for Somerset by beating John Green. After an opening win in the second session for the visitors from Sean Nichol who won 3-2 against Ali Hickinbottom, Black Country stormed into a match winning 7-3 lead when Rich Bowen beat Dean Baker 3-2, then with straight 3-0 wins from Mark Jones and Sam Bissell against respective opponents Michael Church and Rob Lovell the result was put beyond Somerset’s reach. Nevertheless the away side added another stripe to their score when Adrian Beale won the penultimate game against Ryan Green 3-2, the final score of 8-4 going in Black Country’s favour as their man of the match Connor Whitehouse beat Lee Gregory 3-0 with a tremendous 32.67 average.

With only the men’s ‘A’ result to be added on Somerset had a narrow 13-11 lead on their hosts but with Jamie Barrowman winning 3-0 against Steve Werrett and George Willetts adding his 4-3 win over Neil Raikes the score was levelled at 13-13. Chris Turner (Somerset) had a 4-2 win over Martin Price before the home side added another two wins as Alex Howells beat Mervyn Adams 4-0 and Liam Kelly won the match award for his 4-1 defeat of Tony Snook and 28.60 average to take the overall score along to 15-14. By the end of the half Black Country were leading the game 4-2 and the overall score level at 15-15 after Kevin Hardy (Somerset) ended the half with a 4-1 win over Paul Wells.

Dave Williams reduced the arrears to 4-3 as the second half got underway by beating Gareth Johnston 4-1, the same margin by which Tom Bissell (Black Country) won against Darren Herbert, Mike Harper (Somerset) won against Cayden Smith and Jamie Rollinson (Black Country) beat Leigh Taylor to take the score along to 6-4 to Black Country. Lee Smith kept hopes alive of a draw for the away side as he added his 4-0 win over Aaron Coley to their account but Black Country got the 7-5 win when Trev Brennan beat Adrian Wood 4-2 in the final game of the weekend to give an overall result of 18-18.

The result had no effect on either team’s position in the league with West Midlands remaining sixth and Somerset seventh.

After suffering defeats against Surrey and Middlesex Salopian were eager to get back into winning ways as they travelled to take on Nottinghamshire who prior to the fixture were three places below them and with nine fewer points.

Saturday’s games didn’t produce the results Salopian were hoping for as the ladies ‘B’ began the weekend with a defeat going 2-0 down after Jenny White beat Julie Griffiths 3-1 and Maggie Bamford won 3-2 against Tammy Walmsley. Chloe Ames halved the deficit when she accounted for Julie Wilson with her 3-1 win but the home side then moved into an unassailable 4-1 winning lead when Jan Schofield and Ronnie Johnson in turn won 3-0 against Cally Jones and Danni Pritchard. The final score was made a little more respectable when Salopian’s lady of the match Kate Titley beat Rebecca Collins in straight legs with a 17.68 average to give the final score of 4-2 to Nottinghamshire.

Jon Mansell gave Salopian the ideal start when he won 3-0 against Rob Stansbury and although Paul Harvey levelled for the home side when he beat Kacey Jones 3-2 the away team then went 3-1 up with Andy Gilbert wining 3-2 against Jason Williams and Shaun Pryce adding his man of the match 3-0 win over Steve Johnson to their tally, Pryce having a superb 31.98 average. From 3-1 up by the midway point it was level-pegging as Damion Beardsley beat Scott Towers 3-1 and Wes Deane rounded off the half with his 3-2 success over Dean Rogers.

The second session began as did the first with a win for Salopian as Ian Evans won 3-2 against Richard Hughes. Unfortunately that was to be the solitary win of the second half for the away side as the last five games all went to Nottinghamshire with wins from Chris Scott, Andy Russell, Marc Dewsbury, Lewis Spacey and Scott Parkin who in turn defeated James Mansell (3-2), Andy Evans (3-0), Neil Boxall (3-1), James Jenkins (3-2) and Scott Dockerty (3-2) to give Nottinghamshire an 8-4 win and for the day an 12-6 lead.

The ladies ‘A’ suffered a similar fate as their ‘B’ side going down by the same 4-2 margin, this being the ‘A’ sides very first away defeat. The hosts were first off the mark with wins from their Julie Pitchford and Hayley Underwood who beat respective opponents Emma Tapp and Hayley McGuinness 3-2. Tracey Dean reduced the arrears with her 3-2 win over Helen Harvey but with 3-1 wins for Jan Schofield and Kaylea Riley against Steph Clarke and Sue Lane the home side were home and dry. Again as in the ‘B’ team’s game Salopian’s lady of the match came in the final game, Evonne Taylor winning 3-0 against Sarah Brent with a very creditable 25.47 average.

With an overall 16-8 lead Nottinghamshire went further ahead as the men’s ‘A’ game got underway, Richard Cooper and Charlie Stocks adding their respective 4-3 and 4-2 wins over Ben Morgan and Ben Bevan to assure the hosts of at least a draw with ten more games to play. A man of the man performance from Terry Nash halved the deficit, Nash winning with a straight 4-0 result against Aaron Gormley and a 29.91 average. Jack Kerr restored the home team’s two games buffer with a close 4-3 win against Eddie Price and although Paul Rowley (Salopian) won 4-1 against Lewis Spacey the score at the halfway point was 4-2 to Nottinghamshire as Tom Allis rounded off the half with a 4-0 win over Steven Ritchie.

The second half began better for the visitors as Mark Crutchley won 4-0 against Luke Almond and Glyn Thomas beat James Hewitt 4-3 to level the score at 4-4. A 4-2 win for Marc Dewsbury against Matt Elsey proved to be the last win Nottinghamshire would get as Ash Hilditch beat Damion Beardsley 4-3, Gary Crowther won 4-1 against Micky Stocks and Jamie Kynaston beat Richard Bloomfield 4-0 in the final game to give Salopian men’s ‘A’ a 7-5 victory to consolidate their top spot in the men’s ‘A’ division.

The overall 21-15 win went to Nottinghamshire which sees now both teams locked on 144 points with Salopian one place higher in fourth position by virtue of their superior legs average.

Shropshire’s seventh fixture of the season in division three of the UKDA National League was a home tie with bottom of the division Isle of Wight, who had suffered defeats in their previous six games. With home advantage, fifty-two points more and two places above their visitors a win looked most definitely on the cards for Shropshire, but that’s not quite how it turned out.

The first four games of the ladies ‘B’ match all went with the first throw advantage, Lyn Marshall giving Isle of Wight the early lead with her 3-2 win over Sandra Beardsmore only to see Shropshire’s lady of the match Michele Pritchard beat Georgia Davison 3-0 with a 16.52 average to level the score. For a second time the away team took the lead, this time through a 3-0 win for Hayley Hailes against Lauren Kempson, but from 2-2 the hosts then rattled off three consecutive wins with Kirstie Millington beating Nicola Emery 3-2, Kelly Millingont getting the better of Hannah Langridge with a 3-1 result and Gemma Smith winning 3-0 against Angie Cotton for a 4-2 win for the home side.

It was a bright start for the men’s ‘B’ as Rob Pitt won 3-1 against Paul Griesdale and John Simms beat Stephen McConway 3-2. Eddie White was the away team’s first winner as he beat Anthony Whitehouse 3-0, only to see Shropshire’s two games buffer restored in the fourth when man of the match Brett Cooper won 3-2 against Dan Inman with a 22.72 average. From Shropshire’s lead of 3-1 the score at the halfway mark was 3-3 as Chris Hogg won 3-1 against Jon Blakemore and Dale Grove beat Gary Gardner 3-2.

The second half belonged to Isle of Wight as they won five of the six games to give them an 8-4 victory. Daz Leneneu (3-0) and Kurt Wright (3-1), Paul Harrison (Shropshire) won the final game of the day against Simon Newland 3-2.

The ladies ‘A’ match finished with the same 4-2 result as the ‘B’ game but this time the win went to Isle of Wight. The opening four games went against the first throw advantage with Shropshire twice taking the lead, first through Jenna-Louise Ball who not only beat Hope Webster 3-0 but in the process earned herself the team’s match award for her 15.34 average. Dawn Edwards replied for the away team beating Deana Sheldon 3-1 before Sophie Ward restored Shropshire’s lead with her 3-0 win over Fiona Pickin. A 3-2 win for Brenda Dyer against Nicola Ball levelled the game at 2-2 before Isle of Wight clinched their win with 3-0 wins from their Samantha Pink and Anne Griesdale who defeated respective opponents Marie Riggs and Dianne Newton.

With the ladies having two 4-2 results the men had two 8-4 results ans like the ladies Sunday’s results went to the opposite team.

Isle of Wight began the men’s ‘A’ game well going 2-0 up with Darren Andrews winning 4-2 against Sam Aitkens and Micky White beating Paul Penfold 4-3, but then it was all-change as Shropshire finished the half 4-2 up. Andrew Jervis began the quartet of wins when he won 4-0 against Paul Thomas, Richard Parker then added his 4-1 success against Jason Waite before Andy Vellender beat Gordy Crews 4-3 and Reece Cook-Lucas made it 4-2 with his 4-2 win over Jason Collins.

The second session began where the first had left off with a further win for Shropshire as Chris Fox won 4-1 against Graham Dutton to take the score along to 5-2 to the hosts. A 4-0 win for Mark Edwards against Lee Dolman and a 4-3 success for Mark Stoker over Andre Knox reduced Shropshire’s lead to 5-4 but wins in the last three games saw them gain an 8-4 victory. Man of the match Kevin Harris won 4-1 against Lee Marsh and had an average of 24.67. Harris was followed by Phil Clarke who won 4-3 against Phil Hurt and ending the weekend with a straight 4-0 win was Steven Lynch who defeated Jim Stevens.

The overall result for the weekend was an 18-18 draw which saw Shropshire move up two places in the table to sixth on 131 points while Isle of Wight remain rooted at the foot of the table with 79 points.
