Black Country began their weekend in the L-Style Division One table placed sixth, thirty-six points short of leaders Suffolk and despite their 21-15 win away to Gwynedd finished the weekend still sixth in the division but forty-two points short of Suffolk who held on to pole position with a 25-11 win at Tyne and Wear.

The ladies ‘B’, after trailing 2-0 earned a 3-3 draw with wins from Doreen Hunt who collected the match award for her 3-2 win against Shereen Downs and 18.05 average, Grace Angel and Lacey Hughes. The men’s ‘B’  took four of the opening six games thanks to Mark Rollinson, Ian Townsend, Mark Jones and Al Smith. The second half saw them go one better by winning five of the six games with man of the match Cayden Smith rounding off the 9-3 win in the final game beating Barry Jones 3-0 with a 30.06 average. Other winners were John Green, Sam Bissell, Ryan Green and Ali Hickinbottom.

It was not a great start to Sunday’s games as the ladies ‘A’ slumped to a 5-1 defeat with Maxine Prosser their sole winner beating Jacky Blanks 3-2 and averaging 15.55.

With a 13-11 lead the men’s ‘A’ could lose 7-5 and Black Country would still have an overall draw for the weekend and those five games were achieved in the first half when Jamie Rollinson kicked off the proceedings with his 4-0 man of the match win over Stuart Butler and 30.83 average. Adding to Rollinson’s win were Martin Price, Tom Bissell, Trev Brennan and Jamie Barrowman. Now a win was definitely on the cards and with further second half wins from Gareth Johnston, Paul Wells and  Alex Howells the final score was 8-4 to the away side giving them an overall 21-15 win for the weekend.
