Dunky’s Boys have won the division one title with just one defeat in their fourteen games giving them a massive six points advantage over runners-up Tippetts Bar who lost their final game of the season to Dunky’s 6-3, but despite the defeat Tippetts finished their campaign four points to the good on third in the table Lodge who also lost their final game going down 7-2 at home to Wharf.

This week the Four Oaks and District League staged their Individuals Doubles Knockout sponsored by K and B Installations with all the games played at the Red Lion, Station Road, Erdington.

Thirty nine pairs played for the Richard Winslow title, the the only competition in the league that allows two players from different teams to compete together.

After the first round, six pairs from the second division remained, sadly from those six only P.Nicholls and T.Hines (Charley’s Flights) made it to the semi-finals where they made their exit losing 2-1 to N.Smallwood and D.Walton (Walmley CSC Flights). The other semi-final saw J.Clarke and M.Pearce (Golden Hind Lions) beat J.Kavanagh and K.Green (Walmley CSC Flights) 2-0.

J.Clarke and M.Pearce made the final without losing a single leg, while N.Smallwood and D.Walton had a harder fight to reach the final. It was glory for the in-form pair Clarke and Pearce as they chalked up a 3-1 victory over Smallwood and Walton to lift the winner’s trophy.

With the top of the table clash between Dunky’s Boys and Sheldon Marlborough Arrows a late result in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, a 7-2 win for Langley Arrows against Highwood Gerry’s Boys has seen them temporarily take over at the top of the table until the result is in, as a win for either Dunky’s or Sheldon would see them go to the top of the table on average.

In division one there was a second defeat in nine for leaders Sheldon Dukes as they slipped up losing 6-3 playing away against Maggies who are just two places off the foot of the table. Second in the division Hollywood Social moved to within two points of Sheldon Dukes with a 5-4 win at next to bottom of the table Irish Centre and with a win in their game in hand Hollywood could go top of the division.

In division two Willclare Sports and Social are in the only undefeated team in all three divisions, their latest success being a 6-3 win at Hampton and Solihull CC to keep them two points ahead of Journeys End who have taken over the number two spot after their 6-3 win at Raven and the 6-3 defeat of Kingshurst Labour Club (who were previously second) by Shirley Misfits.

Close behind Plough comes Bell who had an 8-1 win against Roost.

Top versus bottom this week in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League as leaders Bird in Hand ‘E’ hosted bottom of the table Bell ‘B’. The result was a 5-2 win for Bird ‘E’ to put them on 18 points from eleven games and keep them two points to the good on the chasing Fox Inn (Lye) team who are second, they also won 5-2 in their fixture away to next to bottom Raven.

Although third and fourth placed Bell ‘A’ and White Horse are respectively four and six points short of Bird in Hand ‘E’ they in turn have two and three games fewer and wins in those games would put them level on points with the leaders. The latest games for Bell ‘A’ and White Horse saw them both win 4-3 against in turn Ten Arches ‘A’ and Ten Arches ‘B’, not a good week for Ten Arches.
