The Sutton and District Summer League have completed their division one programme and The Boat clinched the title in the very last fixture of the season. Playing at home The Boat hosted Golden Hind who prior to the game were in pole position with 16 points, two more than The Boat. The outcome of the match was a 7-2 win for the home team taking them level on points with their opponents but their superior average giving them the title.
Division two still have one week’s games to play and like division one the latest round of fixtures matched the two top teams when leaders Erdington Club played at home against second placed Red Lion. After eight successive wins Erdington had their unbeaten run come to an end when they lost 7-2 putting Red Lion within two points of them, however if Erdington lost their final game their average is still good enough to give them the title.
Just one fixture outstanding in division three between leaders The Fox and next to bottom The Duke but the result is immaterial as with 18 points and a four points lead over both second and third Oscott Social and Old Oscott WMC The Fox have already won the division.

The South Birmingham League played off the finals of three of their knockouts the first was the Captains Cup which produced an exciting final between Robbie Earl and Neil Parsonage going to the wire with Parsonage just getting the 2-1 verdict. Parsonage won his last four game against Simon Edwards 2-0 despite Edwards hitting a maximum and Earl beat Nick Walker 2-1.

The Secretary’s Cup final was fought out between Gavin Jones and Dave Clinton with Clinton recording a straight 2-0 win. Clinton won his semi final against Liam Walker 2-0 while Jones was taken to a third leg by Dean Young before winning 2-1.

Neil Parsonage just missed out on a possible double as he and his partner Sue Hawkins lost 2-0 to Simon Edwards and Charlie Kingdon in the semi finals of the Mixed Doubles. Making up the final was Mike McFall and Sandra Liggins after their 2-1 win over Gary Shergold and Karen Shergold.
The final went to a deciding third leg which saw Simon Edwards and Charlie Kingdon clinch the title with a 2-1 result leaving Mike McFall and Sandra Liggins as runners up.

It was certainly not a lucky seven for leader of the Sheldon Heath Social Dukes In House League Paul Sunner as in week seven he lost for the first time in seven games. Playing against Paul Curry who was placed seventh in the table Sunner lost 2-1, however he remains in the number one spot with 19 points and his two closest challengers Lee Molyneux and Chris Cotter in turn have 17 and 16 points both having played eight games.
Fourth in the table Sean O’Donnell didn’t play in week seven and now on 15 points has a game in hand on Sunner, a 3-0 win in that game would see him reduce the arrears to just one point.
At the other end of the table Steve Groves recorded his first win in seven as he beat Mark O’Donnell 2-1.

The Shirley Red Lion Premier League began their ninth season with a fabulous total of 30 players. Reigning league champion Paul Higgins missed the opening night as he was holidaying in Italy but play off champion Tom Bent was present although he did have somewhat of an indifferent start as he finished all square at 2-2 with Mike Forsyth in his opening game and then won 3-1 against Ken Hopton.
As he will be away for the next two weeks Mick Bown played four games kicking off with a 3-1 win over Steve Hicks then a straight 4-0 against newcomer Jordan Ottley. Bown was then held to a 2-2 draw by Andy Thomas and finished the night with another 3-1 win including 2×180’s in his game against Dave Fisher to put him in pole position with 12 points.
Mark Gwalchmai finished third in last season’s final table and has begun the new campaign in style with two 4-0 wins against Dave Fisher and Mike Forsyth to give him eight points two more than Steve Sidwell, Dave Heighway, another newcomer Mark Henderson, Chris Thomas and Andy Thomas, the latter having played three games.

With just a couple of fixtures remaining in the Winmau Centre Monday Night League What’s The Point have one hand already on the winners prize, a massive 43-5 win over Make Mine A Double has given them a total of 527 points 26 more than second placed Just The Tip who suffered a blow to their title aspirations when they lost 27-21 to fourth in the table Utter Nutters plus they have now played one more game than the leaders.
Keep It In The Family moved up two places to fifth following their 31-17 win over bottom team Unleashed Warrior.

Only two of the four results are available from the quarter finals of the knockout cup in the Forest of Arden Summer League in which current league leaders Journeys End won 7-2 against Greville Arrows and second in the table Highwood KB went one better with an 8-1 result against their opponents and local rivals Highwood Arms.

After playing fifteen of a scheduled eighteen games in the Camp Hill League Cotterills Lane Club remain undefeated their latest 6-1 win at Devil’s Club taking their points tally to a maximum 30 points, however despite their fine record they only have a slender two points lead over second in the table Hay Mills Social Club Lions who also recorded a 6-1 win at home to bottom of the table Station Wagon.
Third in the table Holy Gulp surprisingly went down 5-2 away to seventh placed Wagon and Horses and despite having a game in hand on the two teams above them are now ten points off the top.

With games fast running out in the Pip Club League Queens Head after their 6-3 win over Globe (Wilnecote) are just one win away from clinching the Main League title, they currently have 44 points from 22 games, four points more than second placed Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) but Bulls Head have a far superior average, their latest 9-0 win against Glove Trotters increasing the average difference.

With Ten Arches ‘A’, leaders of the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League having a bye in week 20 the chasing pack of Ten Arches ‘B’, Gate ‘B’ and Brickmakers Arms all chalked up big wins to help reduce the deficit. Second placed Ten Arches ‘B’ had an 8-1 win against Kingswinford Conservative Club to put them on 32 points, six fewer than their ‘A’ team but with a game in hand. Third in the table Gate ‘B’ won 7-2 at home against The Swan to give them the same 32 points as Ten Arches ‘B’, and a further two points adrift is Brickmakers in fourth place who won their game at Fox Inn (Lye) 8-1.

The Netherton Thursday Night League played their 3 A-Side Knockout down to the last four teams and making up those four teams are Riddins Tavern and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club who both have two teams in the semi finals.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club lost their two points lead at the top of the Brierley Hill Monday Night League when they lost their home tie with second placed Bulls Head (Netherton) 5-4, the two teams are now tied on 28 points as is third in the table Mount Pleasant who had 6-3 win away to Blue Brick.

The Kings Norton League had two cup finals on their fixture card the first being the League Cup which brought together the league’s top two teams leaders Hillyfields ‘B’ and second in the table West Heath. With 23 straight wins in the league Hillyfields took their league form into the cup and won the title with a convincing 5-2 result.
The second final was for the Consolation Cup in which two of the lower placed teams Toby Jug Flights and Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club did battle. The outcome was another 5-2 scoreline with the Ex Serviceman’s Club taking the honours.

Only one change in the top five teams in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League which saw Old Hop Pole replace The Vine in fourth place after beating them 4-3. Leaders Dewdrop remain six points ahead of second in the table Island Inn after a 4-3 win at Old Court House while Island Inn won by the same margin against New Talbot.
The two bottom teams played each other with next to bottom Horseley Tavern winning 5-2 against bottom team Hayes Social.

The Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League had the preliminary round of their League Cup on the fixture card and in the two games played The Bell had a convincing 6-1 win at Glasscutters and Brickmakers Arms won a close tussle with Dudley Sports ‘B’ 4-3.

Very little change in the league tables in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League in fact in the division two singles and division one doubles there was no change whatsoever.
In the division one singles Riley’s ‘C’ continue to lead the way on 34 points after a 5-2 win over Jack’s Bar with Sunbeam second on 28 points.
Wednesfield Legion had a 2-1 win over Riley’s ‘D’ in the division two doubles league to hold on to a six points lead over Roebuck who won by the same margin against Yale Club.

Black Horse have fallen four points behind The Nutan at the top of the Wednesbury and Darlaston Wednesday Night League after losing 6-3 away to Staffordshire Knot ‘A’ who take over third place from English Oak who lost 6-3 at Staffordshire Knot ‘B’ this being only their fourth win in fifteen games. Nutan won 8-1 against bottom team Churchills ‘B’.
