With just week’s fixtures remaining in the Sheldon and District Winter League only one of the three divisional titles has been decided and that is the premier division, an 8-0 win at The Pirates was enough to secure the title for Crown at Olton who have 30 points from their 17 games, four more than their nearest rivals Mackadown Social who won their fixture at The Harvester 6-2.

Iron Horse Flights were held to a 4-4 draw at home by Sheldon Dukes which was just enough to keep them in pole position in division one but only on average from Crown-Forget-Me-Not whose 6-2 win at Yardley Ex Colts keeps them in with a chance of the title as they are on the same 24 points as Iron Horse. Third in the table Willclare Sports and Social’s 5-3 home win against Crown Arrows keeps their faint hopes of winning the division alive as with 23 points they are just one point behind the leading duo.

In division two Shirley RBL Misfits were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw away to next to bottom of the table Greville Arms leaving them reliant on a win in their final game to clinch the title as second placed Lyndon Old Boys convincing 7-1 win at Langley Hall Sports and Social Flights leaves them just one point adrift of Misfits.

A final 7-2 home win against The Raven sees Erdington Members Club topping the division one table in the South Birmingham League with 24 points, however with their fixtures now complete they have to wait the outcome of a rearranged fixtures between Mackadown Social and Crown at Olton before they will know if they have done enough to win the division as Mackadown are just two points behind them and could still take the title on average.

The Gate secured the division two title with a 5-4 home win over The Bell which gave them a total of 22 points two more than runners up The Dog who had a final 6-3 home win over The Kingfisher.

Just two results from the Forest of Arden Summer League which saw Journeys End hand out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Highwood Exiles in the main league and in the mini league Kingshurst Knights were 15-12 winners away to Crown Arrows.

The Kings Norton League are two games into the second half of their season and leaders Hillyfields ‘B’ with a 5-2 win at Grant Arms took their unbeaten run to 16 games and kept intact their four points lead over second in the table West Heath who had a similar 5-2 win in their home tie with Rubery RBL.

Third placed Stirchley United are a further four points behind West Heath after a close 4-3 win away to Hillyfields ‘A’.

There was a rare win for Weoley Hill, their second in fifteen games as they won 4-3 against bottom team Billesley to lift them up one place and two points above Coldstream who lost 6-1 away to Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club.

Cotteridge Lane Club took their undefeated run in the Camp Hill League to eight games with a 6-1 win at Wagon and Horses while second placed Hay Mills Social Club Lions had a close but nevertheless important 4-3 home win when they handed third placed Holy Gulp their first defeat of the campaign to leave Hay Mills two points off the top. Holy Gulp despite trailing Hay Mills by two points do have a game in hand.

Friday 2nd June will see the Crown at Olton host a charity match between a Sue Kingdon Select and Andy Hutchings Select to raise funds for a charity of Dave Duncan’s choice, Dave himself very seriously ill. All players will pay £5.

The game will get underway between 7.30 and 8.00pm.

What’s The Point have taken over as leaders of the Winmau Centre Monday Night League following their huge 46-2 win against next to bottom of the table Make Mine A Double. With 233 points What’s The Point have a game in hand and are four points to the good on second placed Just The Tip who won their fixture with fourth placed Utter Nutters 33-15.

Third in the table The Untouchables beat Full Monty 38-10 to leave them thirteen points off the top.

Bottom of the table Unleashed Warrior are still without a win in their opening six games the latest of which saw them go down 34-14 to Keep It In The Family.

Up to week eight of the Small Heath League and only average separates the top two teams, East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association top the table, their 8-1 win away to bottom of the league Emerald Club giving them a total of 14 points but a seven points of average lead over Gulp Tribe who took their points tally to 14 when they won 6-3 away to third placed Foaming Tankard who are now four points behind the leading pair.

It was top versus bottom in division one of the Sutton and District League as leaders Boat hosted Plough and Arrows and beat them 7-2 to make it three straight wins. Golden Hind have also won all three of their fixtures their latest game seeing them win 5-4 at home against St Thomas’s Club to leave them trailing slightly behind Boat on average only.

Erdington Club are the only 100% winners in division two showing their superiority as they handed out a first defeat of 8-1 to third placed Red Lion. Red Lion like second in the table Drakes Drum with four points are two adrift of Erdington, Drakes latest win being 6-3 against Pint Pot Flights.

Fox and Old Oscott WMC are locked together on the same points and average at the top of the third division, both teams having won all three games so far. Fox won 8-1 at home against Rosey Mac’s while Old Oscott WMC won by the same margin at home to bottom of the league Lad in the Lane.

The Shirley Red Lion Premier League have a new name at the top of their league table that of Tom Bent who in week eleven had a stunning night of darts as he registered three 4-0 wins against Dave Fisher, Mike Forsyth and Chris John to give him a total of 68 points from 23 games. Former leader Lee Harris didn’t have the best of nights dropping to second place after suffering his first defeat of the season when he went down 3-1 to fourth in the table Chris Thomas and then being held to a 2-2 draw by Ken Hopton to take his points to 67 one short of Bent but he does have a game in hand.

Another former leader Mark Gwalchmai began the night with a ten darts leg in his 3-1 win against Antony Daly and although he recorded an eleven darts leg in his tie with Adam Stuart finished the game all square at two each to put him on 63 points from the same 22 games as Harris.

Taking this week’s £5 prize for the highest finish was Mikey Harris who had a 119 checkout in his 2-2 draw with Andy Hoy. Pete Silver and Mick Bown both had 160 breaks while the best game of nine darts went to Chris Devlin in his 2-2 draw with Chris Thomas.

The Red Lion, Shirley, Monday night team will be staging a 24 hour charity dart-a-thon to raise money for Lupus UK as two of the players have wives suffering from the disease. The dates have now been confirmed as the 26th and 27th May hours will start at 16:00 on the Friday 26th May until 16:00 the following day.

Sam Guest retains pole position in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League adding three more wins to his tally when in week 20 he won 7-0 against John Edwards and Lisa Maiden and then beat Devinder Singh 5-2 to put him on 192 points from 35 games. Guest’s nearest rival at present is Chris Williams who didn’t play this week and is 20 points short of Guest but has only played 32 games. A further eight points behind Williams in third place is Louis Burley who has played 31 games and in fourth place is winner for the past two seasons Mick Baker who did his hopes of retaining the title for a third term no harm whatsoever when he kicked off the night with a 5-2 win over Chris Manoila, then he won 7-0 against Baz Pearce and finished the evening with a 6-1 success over Rob Monatana to leave him 31 points short of Guest with six games in hand.

Well done to Lisa Maiden who chalked up her second win in 29 games when she won 4-3 against Shane Watters.

The Bilston and District League played off the finals of their Challenge Cup and in the last four play offs 44 Club beat Allens Sports Bar ‘B’ with a close 4-3 scoreline while Lanesfield RBL had a convincing 7-0 success against Bilston Conservative Club ‘A’.

After a great night of darts the final produced another spectacular game which went the full distance before Lanesfield RBL retained their title with a deciding winner from A.Fellows over M.Bellingham (44 Club).

Dudley Ex Servicemen’s Club had a surprising 7-2 home defeat in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League against Delph Bell who move up two places in the table to fourth while Ex Servicemen’s lose pole position and go down to third. Bulls Head take over at the top of the table with a 5-4 home win over Dudley Sports ‘A’ giving them 20 points the same number that second placed Mount Pleasant have after their 6-3 win at Dudley Sports ‘B’.

The Brierley Hill Friday Night League played off their singles finals and taking the title with a final 3-1 win over Dean Marshall (Pensnett Welfare Club ‘B’) was Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ representative Stuart Skidmore.

Both of the semi finals went to a deciding leg with Skidmore beating Rick Riaz (Britannia) and Marshall taking out Carl Penzer (Brickmakers Arms).

Week six of the Netherton Thursday Night League and just two of the nine starters are able to boast a 100% win record. Leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club had a bye this week but remain at the top of the table with 15 points from their five games, second placed The Bell won 5-4 at Townsend Club giving them a maximum 12 points from their four games and a lead of three points over a chasing pack of three, Bulls Head, White Horse and Riddins Tavern who have all played five games.

As the Rowley Monday Night League reaches the midway point of its season two teams Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ and The Bell have pulled away from the rest of the field with a gap of eight points between second placed Bell and three teams on 20 points Ivy Bush, Cradley Liberal Club and Whiteheath Tavern.

In the latest round of fixtures Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ beat bottom of the table Loyal Lodge 9-0 and The Bell, who also handed out a 9-0 whitewash won at Fairfield to leave them two points behind the leaders.

It was unlucky week thirteen for Island Inn in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League as they lost their home tie with Waggon and Horses 5-2 and at the same time their top spot in the league being replaced in pole position by Dewdrop who won 4-3 at home against Merry-Go-Round. Both of the top two teams are on 22 points, Dewdrop having the superior average.

A 4-3 defeat at Wednesfield Conservative Club has seen Riley’s ‘B’ drop from second to fourth in the division one singles league in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League. Despite having a bye Riley’s ‘C’ continue in the number one spot with 18 points from their ten games while Sunbeam after a 7-0 win at Penn Bowling take over the second place two points short of Riley’s ‘C’.

Dog and Partridge made it eleven wins from eleven games in division two when they won 7-0 away to next to bottom of the table Bird in Hand. Shed and Wednesfield Legion share second place level on 18 points and average, Shed winning 4-3 at Roebuck and Wednesfield having a 5-2 success against Royal.

In the doubles leagues a 2-1 win by Riley’s ‘B’ at Wednesfield Conservative Club puts them top of division one with 18 points while Wednesfield Legion top division two with 20 points after their 2-1 win over Royal.

Third in the table Cleveland Arms also won 6-1 in their fixture at home to ECC ‘B’ to keep them within two points of the leading duo.
