The Warwickshire Darts Organisation were busy over the Christmas period staging three major events first their annual and very popular 2015 Warwickshire Invitation Classic the sixth in the series once again being staged at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry.
As what has come to be expected and the norm for the competition there were top darts from a class field of players with no fewer than seven attempts at a nine darts game.
From a starting block of 48 players the quarter finals saw Kyle Anderson and Jamie Hughes in turn defeat James Richardson and Andy Brown 5-2 while Mick Todd beat Jelle Klaasen 5-3 and Ricky Evans gain his semi final spot with a closer 5-4 verdict over Robbie Green.
The Australian Anderson won his last four game against Mick Todd by 6-3 but Warwickshire’s own Jamie Hughes was taken to a final and deciding leg by Ricky Evans before winning 6-5
Both players played well in the final but the eventual winning margin of 7-4 plus the top prize of £1400 went to Kyle Anderson, Jamie Hughes received £700 as runner up.
Losing semi finalists Todd and Evans each received £300 and there was £125 for the losing quarter finalists plus £100 for players reaching the last sixteen.
Organiser Neil Pritchard would like to thank the Bishopsgate Club for their sponsorship and One80 for sponsoring the boards, also the markers who kept the proceedings flowing throughout the day and especially the players for turning on what was a spectacular event.
Already plans are being made for this year’s event which again will feature a £4,000 prize fund.

Just a couple of weeks after the Invitation Classic and three days after Christmas the Bishopsgate again staged a further two knockouts the Coventry Christmas Open Singles and an Open Pairs. The singles competition attracted in excess of a hundred top players from far and wide.
The quarter finals laid on an array of talent with Warwickshire county player Nigel Heydon beating Leicestershire’s Craig Allen 4-2 and Nottinghamshire’s Jay Foreman winning 4-1 against Matt Padgett from Derbyshire.
Foreman was quickest off the mark in the final, against the throw he chalked up scores of 135,100,100 and 134 to leave 32 after only twelve darts. He then, with two darts won the leg, Heydon still requiring 76. The second leg was very close Heydon had a throw at 32 to win the leg but failed, Foreman throwing for 60 also failed, then throwing for double eight Heydon made no mistake hitting the double first dart for a 16 darts leg.
With a maximum in the third leg the Warwickshire man then went 2-1 up in 17 darts and extended his lead to 3-1 with an 18 darts leg.
The fifth leg went to Jay Foreman, a 15 darts leg with top shots of 140,120 and 137 to put him back in the game, now trailing 3-2.
Leg number six could easily have gone to either of the players as both of them were guilty of missed doubles. Foreman had first throw and was first to a double but with throws for 44 and 24 missed on both visits to the oche, Heydon requiring 109 scored 101 and with his next visit to the board wrapped up a 4-2 victory with an 8 outshot.
As champion Heydon received £330, Foreman collected £150, there was £60 for each of the losing semi finalists, £30 for the players reaching the quarter finals and £10 each for the last sixteen losers.

The Pairs Open attracted more than 50 entries and the last four games saw James and Josh Richardson win 4-1 against Warwickshire county duo Mark Carter and Ian McFarlane, while another Warwickshire pairing of Steve Hine and Kevin Dowling accounted for the West Midlands twosome Mark Craddock and Shaun Carroll with a straight 4-0 win, and it was Hine and Dowling who got the 4-2 result in the final over the two Richardson’s to clinch the top prize of £240, the Richardson’s received £120, there was £60 for the losing semi finalists and £30 for the teams reaching the last eight.
