On the league front at the centre the Winmau Thursday Night Champions League sees after most players have played ten games, last season’s runner up Kevin Harris leading the field with 52 points. The nearest threat to Harris comes in the form of Robert Pierce who has 46 points but from eleven games.
Reigning champion Kevin Lane is currently in fifth position on 32 points, however he has only completed six fixtures so far and with four games in hand, each of which could net him seven points, he could return a total of 28 points from those outstanding fixtures which would take his tally to 60 points and would give him a lead of eight points at the top of the table.
It is nevertheless too early in the season to be looking at champions and with prize money to be paid out to all league members each and every one of them still have everything to play for, but having said that with regards to the eventual winner there does appear to be a gap forming between the top five and the rest of the field, sixth placed Chris Fox having played the same number of games as leader Harris but is a huge 20 points adrift.
