Two games and two wins, that’s exactly what Warwickshire County Darts Organisation have achieved in their opening two fixtures in division one of the Kalber BDO Inter Counties Championships, what better start can any team have to a new season!!
After a 20-16 win away to Hertfordshire, Dorset at home provided the next opposition and it was cheers all round as Warwickshire chalked up their second consecutive 20-16 victory. The ladies ‘A’ side once again recorded a 5-1 win with Trina Gulliver (25.44) once more taking the match award. Wendy Adams (20.61) made it two awards in a row for the ‘B’ side, but unfortunately the team went down 4-2.
For the men Steve Hine (29.66) was the star in the ‘A’ teams 8-4 win, with Jamie Atkins (26.37) the top man in the ‘B’ teams close 7-5 defeat. Nevertheless two wins in the first two games of the season is a great start and takes them into second place in the promotional table just two points behind leaders Gwent. Also what better morale booster for their next fixture, an away game against local rivals Staffordshire.

West Midlands lost their first game of the season away to County Durham, but they made amends in the second when they beat Hertfordshire 22-14 at the Gilberts Bar, Willenhall. There were mixed fortunes for the ladies as the ‘A’ team had a convincing 5-1 win, Leanne Jennings (20.04) claiming her second lady of the match award for the season and fast becoming the Trina Gulliver of the West Midlands, the ’B’ team were not so fortunate as they finished on the wrong side of a 4-2 result, Claire Ford (16.67) was their award winner.
The men’s ’A’ shared the spoils in a 6-6 draw, while the ’B’ had a fantastic 10-2 win. Collecting the respective match awards were Richard Foster (27.33) and Mark Lloyd (27.73).

John McCaffrey plays for Potcheen Still in the Small Heath League and before the season got underway he stated he would attempt to hit no fewer than ten maximums this season. So far John has played four games and hit three, looks like he is well on course for his target.
The team members would like to send their best wishes to Kevin Fleming, the former manager of the Potcheen Still and his wife, Helen who have left the Potcheen to take over at Saint Andrews. Also they would like to wish
the new manager and his wife, Mick and Helen Taylor the very best of luck in their new venture.
