It was not good news for the Warwickshire County Darts Organisation who they travelled south to take on Cambridgeshire in their latest premier division BDO Inter Counties fixture. They returned with their heaviest defeat of the season so far, 23-16, both of the men’s teams lost, the ‘A’ 7-5 and the ‘B’ 9-3 with Steve Dwyer (29.31) and Mick Bagley (27.81) taking the respective match awards.

Barbara Allen (15.17) was the ladies ‘B’ lone winner, while the only bright note of the weekend was the 4-2 win by the ladies ‘A’. Taking the ‘A’ team’s top player award, but really it almost goes without saying, was Trina Gulliver. Trina has now won the last sixteen consecutive ‘A’ awards, a truly amazing feat.

Congratulations go to the West Midlands, who in their division two home tie with Gwent recorded their first win in seven outings, in fact their first of the season. The men were very instrumental in the 23-16 win as they both won, the ‘A’ 8-4 and the ‘B’ 9-3. On form for the respective sides were Nick Walters (28.54) and Ron Johnson (29.47).

Gill Cook (15.49), for the third consecutive match won the ‘A’ teams match award. Unfortunately Gill turned out to be the team’s only winner as they lost 5-1, the ‘B’ side are also suffering with not even a draw to their name so far. This latest match was no better, a 4-2 reversal with only Claire Hobbs and Frances Allen winning. Hobbs took the best player trophy with a 16-52 average.

Custard House, who had already won the Small Heath Winter League title before the last match, finished the season with a 5-4 home win over Sheldon Heath Flights and ultimately denied their opponents the runners up spot. Black Horse had a comfortable 7-2 home win over bottom of the table Red Hill, but these two results provided the league officials quite a headache.

Custard House are league champions with 18 points, then comes Black Horse and Sheldon Heath Flights with exactly the statistics, played 10, won 6, lost 4, legs for 49, legs against 41 and 12 points each. So then the officials had to go back one stage further to check the number of individual legs for and against. Both teams had won 98 legs but the runners spot was decided with the Black Horse having conceded 15 to Sheldon’s 20. Phew that was close!!

In the last matches M.Nunn ( Saltley Flights) hit a maximum and D.Allen (Sheldon Heath Flights) produced a magnificent maximum checkout of 170.

In round one of the Longwood Winter League’s Open Cup, Three Horse Shoes had a convincing 8-1 win at the Royal Oak. Not far behind was the Wilnecote Club who beat Jolly Sailor 7-2. Also progressing to the next round were Three Tuns and White Swan (Kingsbury) at the expense of Mercian and red Lion ‘B’.
