Lickey Banker are the new leaders of the premier division in the Harborne and District Winter League. A cracking 8-1 victory at home to Ladywood Social ensured Banker their pole position. In the same division Midland Red proved too strong for Hillyfields and ran out 7-2 winners while Bartley Green Social Club and the George were involved in a very close 5-4 affair in which the former got the verdict.
Harborne Stores won their away game at the Golden Cup in division one by a narrow 5-4 margin. Nevertheless it was enough to see them take over the number one spot. Hobsons Choice and New Inns both recorded 7-2 wins against respective opponents Stores ‘B’ and Avenue Social.
Division three leaders Bartley Green Social Flights consolidated their top spot by handing out a 9-0 whitewash to Stonehouse Ladies.

The quarter finals of the Presidents Cup were on the agenda for the Forest of Arden Winter League. Biggest shock was the exit of league leaders Hobs Meadow. Playing away to arch rivals Red Arrows Hobs lost 6-3, but team manager Les Wheeler was heard to say after the match “this now gives us a chance to win the Consolation Cup, we’ve never won that”. Another surprise was the 5-4 defeat of the Mackadown Social by the Highwood. Mackadown had only lost a couple of their league fixtures and are riding high in the table. Pete Vasey notched a maximum for the Harvester as they won their home game against the Stechford Social 6-3. Old Bill and Bull’s Paul Goldie also hit a 180. Unfortunately his team lost 6-3 at home to Silver Wings.

Second placed Trevor Frost, on 62 points, lost ground when he lost to fourth placed, Shenton 2-1.
