The Harborne and District Winter League have had a couple of outstanding fixtures to play off in order to decide two important issues. Firstly in the premier division Ladywood Social found themselves trailing 3-1 at Bartley Green Social Club. However, they stuck to their task and came back to snatch a dramatic 5-4 victory to confirm them as runners up to champions the George.
In division one Hillyfields ‘A’, with a 180 from G.Butler, won their home tie with Lickey Banker by 6-3. The win sealed a second place in the table for Hillyfields. Bankers M.Smith recorded a nine darts game.

There was a top of the table clash in the Harborne 401 Summer League with Midland Red taking on the George. The match contained no fewer than 59 scores of a ton or more, but the most important result of 5-4 went in favour of the home team Midland Red, D.Bourne helping them on their way with an eleven darts leg. A 180 from T.Hamilton and a 156 break by B.Davenport saw Stonehouse Nomads win 6-3 at Bartley Green Social Club. The Club’s S.Riddick chalked up a 160 break.
Division two leaders Highlander maintained their winning ways beating the Coronation Club 6-3. Hobsons Choice, with a 160 break from S.Evans, won by a similar margin against Village Stump.
The race is hotting up for the third division title as second placed Harborne Stores stormed to an 8-1 win over Highlander Ladies. Bartley Green FC, who are also challenging for honours kept their hopes alive with a 6-3 success against Stonehouse Flights.

Gary Mills continues to lead the field in the Bass Breweries sponsored Minworth Social Individual League. Gary’s latest fixtures saw him beat Karl Stephens 2-1 and then go one better and defeat Jason Gilbert 3-0. With 92 points Mills is five ahead of his nearest rival Steve Cain who with a maximum beat Andy Smith 3-0. Also finding the three treble twenties were Rob Smith, Tony Randell, Colin Farrington and Rob South, but highlight of the evening was the 170 maximum game shot from last seasons runner up Alan Mayell in his 3-0 victory over Tim Ryland.

Selly Park were unable to field a team in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League and as a result their opponents Sutton were awarded a 16 points walk over. Acocks Green and Northfield played their scheduled match, the 12-9 result going to the former.

Congratulations to Vicky Edwards who with a total of 49 points is the new Birmingham Ladies Double Top League champion. Vicky rounded off her season with two 3-0 wins over Janet Dudley and Julie James giving her five more points than last seasons champion Joyce Webster who finished as runner up. Joyce also ended on a winning note as she with 3-0 and 2-1 scores accounted for Julie James and Jenny Young.
The highest finish of the season 102 went to Vicky Edwards and the most tons 33 Joyce Webster.
