Chris Brooks has begun her challenge for honours in the Birmingham Ladies Double Top League in style. After four matches she remains undefeated. In the latest round of games she followed her opening two 3-0 wins with a 2-1 success over Marion Walker and then went one better with a 3-0 victory against Phyllis Lardon. Vicky Edwards is the only other player with a 100% record. Vicky did not play in the first week of the season but recorded 3-0 wins over Angie Bourne and Jeanette James in this week’s games.

In the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League Yardley have taken over Sheldon’s fixtures. However, it was not a good start for them as in their opening fixture they current league leaders Acocks Green and went down 19-2. Sutton, with the help of Beattie Powell (5×100,120,140) maintained their good form as they accounted for Northfield with a 14-7 scoreline.

Shirley Legion was the setting for the Acocks Green Winter League Singles Knockout. The event attracted 40 entries. The host venue had two players in the last eight, Amur Parvez losing to Adam Stuart (Robin Hood) in the quarter finals and Tony Daly going out in the next round to Peter Brotherton (Brewers Arms). In the other semi final Tyseley WMC representative Steve Dwyer beat Adam Stuart.
The final saw Dwyer win the opening leg after Brotherton had missed his finishing double. Brotherton then began the second leg with a fabulous 160 break. He went on to win the leg and force a decider. In the third and final leg there was no stopping Dwyer who roared ahead to clinch the game and the title.

In division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League Midland Red, aided by a maximum from K.Harding, chalked up an emphatic 8-1 away win over the Stonehouse. In the same division, Bartley Green Social Club’s I.Butler also hit a 180, his team however, were not so fortunate as they lost 5-4 at the Greenlands.
Division two also had a 180, Village Stump’s C.Perry the man on the mark. But yet again his team finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 result as they lost at home to Lickey Banker. Making it maximum’s all round Harborne Stores P.Parry was the player in division three to find the three magical trebles as his side romped to a 9-0 whitewash against Stonehouse Ladies.

Vauxhall Social and K.C.A. were both on the ball in the Amber Windows League as they strolled to 7-2 wins. Both teams were playing away, Vauxhall beating Aston Social while K.C.A. defeated the Woodman. Seventh Trap were not far behind as they won 6-3 at home to the Lyndhurst. Only one game separated Yew Tree Colts and the Mitre, despite a 156 break by S.Deery for the Colts, it was the latter who got the 5-4 verdict, as did the Heartlands in their fixture at the King Edward 7th.
