Congratulations to Hobs Meadow who, after recently clinching the Forest of Arden Winter League title added the Presidents Cup to their tally and now to complete a fantastic treble they have won the Divisional Cup. Playing against Silver Wings at the Three Horse Shoes, Hobs wrapped up the win with a convincing 9-6 scoreline. After completing the treble it is now widely rumoured that Hobs captain, Les Wheeler, similar to Sir Alex, is waiting in anticipation for his knighthood.

In the final of the Shadow League Divisional Cup final played at the Silver Wings, Mackadown Social defeated the Harvester by 9-6.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners, Sheldon Heath Social Dukes and Olton Legion all recorded 7-2 wins in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. For Saltley J.Pears had a 160 break while S.Edwards (Dukes) recorded a fine eight darts leg. G.McGill (EBAHA) chalked up a maximum as his team lost 5-4 at home to Fordbridge Social.

In division two, F.Ensell (Iron Horse) was another player to hit the three treble twenties, his side won 5-4 in their home tie with Great Western. R.Walton was on the mark for division three’s Tipsy Gent, hitting a 180 in their 5-4 win against Rooster Arrows. In the same division Old Bill and Bull won by the same margin in their fixture with Lyndon Arrows, M.Turner breaking with 160 for the winners.

Tyseley WMC made it a double in the Acocks Green Winter League. After clinching the league title they took on the Railway in the final of the Baillie Cup and won by a massive 8-1. Hardly surprising when Tyseley finished top of the league and Railway wound up at the other end of the table.

The Acocks Green Summer League are on the lookout for another couple of teams to join them in the forthcoming season.

Fred Cotsford is again organising his annual knockout in aid of cancer research at Shirley Legion. The event which is staged in memory of Fred Watson and Dave Reid will take place on Friday 31st March and will get underway at 8-00pm. Entries will be accepted up to commencement of match play with all monies raised going to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to buy equipment.

The latest Midlands Masters organised by the Midland Counties Darts Organisation was again staged at the Belvedere Club, Burton on Trent and it was a huge success as far as the West Midlands were concerned as they walked away with both the men’s and women’s titles.

Taking the men’s crown was Ian Jones who after a 3-2 win in the semi’s over Nottinghamshire’s Mark Wilson, swept aside the challenge of Oxfordshire’s Joe Palmer with a 3-1 verdict in the final.

In the women’s competition Diane Tolley (West Midlands) accounted for Sarah Hall (Staffordshire) in her last four play off and then sealed her victory with a 3-2 success against Leicestershire’s Louise Hathaway in the final game.

In the Amber Windows League K.C.A. with the help of a 180 from T.Hodgekiss won 8-1 at home to Old Oscott Social. C.Betteridge (Bagot Arms) was another player to notch a maximum as his team went on to win 6-3 at the Seventh Trap.

Other results in the league saw Yew Tree Colts and Heartlands chalk up an 8-1 wins at Aston Social and Lyndhurst respectively. King Edward 7th had a fine 7-2 home victory over the Mitre, while Woodman won 5-4 playing hosts to Vauxhall Social
