Greenlands , as a result of their 9-0 whitewashing of Green Man, are confirmed division two champions of the Harborne 401 Summer League. One of Greenlands winners, K.Beard had breaks of 120 and 160. Another player to break with 160 in the second division was G.Grant, unfortunately his team Avenue Social lost 6-3 to Stonehouse. Golden Cup won the local derby with Village Stump 7-2.
In division one Red Lion with a 180 from B.Hadley, won a cracker of a match with Hobsons Choice 7-2, while Ladywood Social had a close 5-4 verdict against an unlucky Hillyfields. Third division leaders, Punchbowl hit top form in their fixture with Beeches, running out 7-2 winners.
All league delegates should note that the next meeting will be held on Sunday 5th September at 11-30am. However, the meeting will be held at the Stonehouse as the league headquarters, the Hillyfields is closed due to refurbishment.

A round dozen maximums were scored in the Sheldon and District Summer League this week. In group one there were two for the Three Horseshoes from B.Twist and K.Smallwood as they beat Sheldon Heath Social 5-3, S.Fletcher replied for the losers. J.Sabell (Shard End Social) also grabbed a maximum as his team finished all square with Smiths Wood.
In group two there was one each for Mackadown Social players J.Rudd and R.Heaven as they went on to win 6-2 at home to Shard End RBL, in the same division P.Curry was another treble twenty hero, nevertheless his team, Chestnuts, went down 5-3 at home to Stechford Social. Just one 180 in Group three, coming from G.Whitehouse (Kinghurst LC) who beat Gables 5-3.
Two for group four’s British Telecom, K.Parkes and A.Wilcock on the mark as the team suffered a 7-1 drubbing by Silver Wings. Hobs Meadow lost their group six match away to Lea Hall Mixed by a similar 7-1 scoreline, but in spite of this J.Hilton and L.Wheeler still chalked up the magical maximum score.
In the second Selworthy Knockout proved to be yet another success with Paul Burnham taking the title with a very close win over Alan Blythe in the final. Paul defeated competition host Alan Mayell in his semi, while Alan accounted for Graham Stych.
A big thank you goes to Cath and Alan Mayell for not only staging the event but also for putting on a fabulous barbecue and quiz in the evening.

In their pre season friendly against Worcestershire, Warwickshire had an encouraging 13-7 victory. Playing at home Warwickshire men stormed to a convincing 10-3 win thanks to David Harris, Colin Fowler, Gary Podmore, Tony Brown, Trevor Frost, Peter Rouse, Pat Koyce, Steve Sharpe, Ian Murdock and Steve Dwyer. Winners for Worcestershire were Carl Jones, Martin Gisbourne and Neal Cooper.
In the ladies match every single game went with the darts advantage and all but the sixth encounter finished as 3-0 results. In that sixth game Vicki Byrne (Worcs) won the second leg against Julie Liddell, but then lost 3-1. Other winners for Warwickshire were Caroline Pike and Debbie McPherson giving the visitors the 4-3 win which was supplied by Carol Jones, Tracey Bishop, Bett Sinnett and Pam Hemming.

The Midlands Area Finals of the British Champions Cup were staged at the Belgrave Sports and Social Club, Tamworth. In the quarter finals of the mens competition West Midlands had a bye, while Warwickshire crushed
Hertfordshire 8-1. In the semi’s it was a 6-3 win over Oxfordshire for West Midlands and a 7-2 success for Warwickshire at the expense of Northamptonshire, to set up a local derby final. Warwickshire continued their good form in the final to defeat their opponents 7-2.
West Midlands went out of the ladies event in the quarter finals, going down 4-3 to Buckinghamshire. By the same scoreline Warwickshire made their exit in the next round by courtesy of Hertfordshire.

Selly Park reigning Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League champions, followed their opening win over Northfield with a convincing 14-7 victory against Acocks Green. Lesley Newcombe and Terri Bellamy were in fine form, the former hitting 4×100,121,140 and the latter 3×100,125,137 and 140. After a 15-6 defeat by Acocks Green, Sheldon bounced quickly bacy to beat Sutton (formerly Ward End) 16-5.
