The Harborne and District Winter League are rounding off their season with their various finals, the latest of which has been the Doubles Knockout. The event produced a superb night of darts for what was a capacity audience. Both semi finals went the full three legs distance with J.Good / M.Best and T.McGlone / D.Bourne making the final at the expense of B.Gillies / D.Hackett and T.Byrne / J.Martin respectively.
The title went to T.McGlone and D.Bourne who with 160 break plus 2×100 won 2-0. Good and Best hit 2×100.
The Winter League will be holding their A.G.M on Sunday June 6th at the Hillyfields, Quinton Road. All teams both old and new are cordially invited to attend the meeting with a view to joining the league which will commence later in the year.
The meeting opens at 11-00am. For any further information contact either Mr Joe Holloway on 0121-477-9389 or alternatively Arthur Woollaston on 0121-476-1233.

Bell Inn and the Red Lion put on a superb display of darts in their Harborne 401 Summer League division one fixture which included no fewer than three 180’s. Playing at home the Red Lion narrowly lost 5-4 with T.McGlone hitting a 180, 140,3×100 and recording a 120 break. For the visitors R.Kinsella also hit 180 together with 140,131,3×100 and a 120 break. Kinsella’s team mate V.Gould was the third player to find the three magical treble twenties as well as 133. Biggest win of the division went to Stonehouse Stars who defeated the Brook 8-1.
In division two, Village Stump gained a 6-3 win over Travellers Rest while in the third division Raven Ladies went down 9-0 at the Bugle Horn.

There was a major shock in the Forest of Arden Winter League when third in the table Silver Wings went down 8-1 at home to Mackadown Social. No such problem for leaders Red Arrows they won 6-3 in their home tie with Cornerstones, maintaining their four points advantage with only three games to play. Those four points are the gap between Arrows and reigning champions Hobs Meadow, who also recorded a 6-3 win, Sheldon Ivy Leaf on the receiving end.

Last week I shared a hospital ward with Ken Ray. Ken, a player in the Cradley and surrounding districts for many years has since February experienced lots of pain, suffering and operations, unfortunately with more to come.
When not in hospital Ken still keeps involved in darts by going to see his wife Elaine play.
I’m sure all darters will join me in wishing Ken a speedy and full recovery.
