In the first week of the new South Birmingham Winter League division one produced an unusual statistic insomuch as the four games played all produced a different result ranging from 8-1 to 5-4.
Mackadown Social with a 180 from M.Heaven kicked off their new season in the top division with an 8-1 win at Crown Shard End to put them top of the table by one leg of average over Erdington Members Club who won their home tie with the summer league champions Coleshill Social 7-2.
Two teams, The Dog and Toby Jug share the number one spot in division two both of them winning 6-3 in turn against The Gate and Kingfisher.

The Forest of Arden Winter League was another league to get underway this week and the two divisional champions of the summer league Journeys End in division one and Journeys End Flights in division two both got off to winning starts.
Journeys End top division one with a 7-2 win at home against Greville Arrows, Peter Kingdon celebrating his first game for Journeys with 3×100 and a maximum. Second in the table Ivy Leaf had a closer 5-4 verdict away to Highwood KB.
Journeys End Flights who went through the summer league undefeated had an impressive 8-1 win away to Highwood Exiles putting them two legs of average clear of second placed Crown Arrows who won 6-2 against Inn on the Green.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League The Boat chalked up an emphatic 9-0 win over Bishop Vesey dropping just four legs in the process to head the division on average from Golden Hind who won 6-3 at home to Plough and Arrows.
In the local derby between Old Oscott WMC and Old Oscott Arrows the WMC turned around a 4-3 deficit to go on and win 5-4.
Its crowded at the top of division two with Erdington Club, leading The Fox and The Boot, all three teams undefeated. Erdington are top on average after their 8-1 win away to bottom of the table Rosey Mac’s, while The Fox were 5-4 winners against Red Lion and Boot won 6-3 at Boldmere Tap whose A.Nicholls recorded the only maximum of the week.

It was cup semi final week in the Kings Norton League with just one result from the League Cup as league champions Court Oak beat Stirchley United with a somewhat surprisingly close 4-3 win as Stirchley finished the season next to bottom of the table.
There were no great surprises in the Consolation Cup as Cotteridge Social beat Billesley 5-2 and E57 accounted for Coldstreeam with a similar 5-2 result.

Cotterills Lane Club leaders of the Camp Hill League powered their way to a convincing 6-1 win over their nearest rivals Holy Gulp in week nine to push their opponents down one place in the table to third on the same 12 points as Hay Mills Social Club who take over second place on average after a 4-3 win at Eagle and Ball, both Hay Mills and Gulp are two points adrift of Cotterills.
At the other end of the table New Inns chalked up their first win in nine as they won 5-2 away to Station Wagon who are bottom of the table without a win so far.

Despite suffering two defeats 3-0 to Tom Bent and 3-1 against Jack Nason, Chris Thomas still remains in pole position in the Shirley Red Lion Premier League but his advantage is now just one point over both Mick Gorst and Paul Higgins. Gorst had mixed fortunes in his two games as he beat Adam Stuart 3-0 and then in spite of hitting a maximum lost by the same margin to Ken Hopton. No such problem for Higgins as he had 3-1 wins over both Mick Bown and Antony Daly.
Although in week six Gorst and Antony Daly were the only players to find the three treble twenties there were four ton plus finishes Tom Bent 114, Antony Daly 108, Ken Hopton 116 and the best of the week 124 by Steve Sidwell.

With games running out in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League there was an upset for the top two players as Louis Burley went down 4-3 to Devinder Singh but recovered to beat Rob Harris 6-1 and Kevin Harris was unable to follow up his 7-0 win over Martin East with a further win to put him clear at the top of the table when he lost 4-3 to Chris Fox. Burley and Harris are now locked together at the top of the table level on games, points and average.
Reigning champion Mick Baker is currently third in the table but is now closing in on the top two his 7-0 win against Baz Pearce putting him on 185 points just nine short of the top two with three games in hand which hold a total of 21 points. Baker looks all set to hold on to his title and the sponsorship deal with Winmau for a second year.

Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club took their unbeaten run in the Aston League to three games and they did it in style as they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visiting team Red Lion who drop from second to fifth in the table.
Drakes Drum take over in second place after beating Mitre 7-2, they Sportsmans Rest and Erdington Club are all two points off the top.
Just one 180 this week provided by J.Rogers as his team Old Oscott WMC went down7-2 at home to Erdington Club.

After only four games in the new season of the Winmau Centre Monday Night League What’s The Point with a 38-10 win over Keep It In The Family have opened up a massive 28 points lead at the top of the table. Smash It are in second in the table they had a huge 41-7 win against bottom team Double Trouble and close on their heels comes The Outcasts who after beating Smash It 28-20 last week recorded a similar 28-20 win against Supermongs to put them on 131 points just one behind Smash It.

An 8-1 win over Quarry Bank Conservative Club and a 9-0 win in a rearranged fixture with Queens has seen Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) move up from third to pole position in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League with 68 points from 38 games two more points than the chasing pack of Ten Arches ‘B’, Brickmakers Arms and Ten Arches ‘A’ with just two more fixtures to play.
Ten Arches ‘B’ have the best average of the top four teams aided by their latest 8-1 win at Bird (Wordsley), but there were also big wins for the other two teams as Brickmakers won 7-2 at Plough and Ten Arches ‘A’ beat The Swan 8-1.

A 6-3 home win over Roost ‘A’ has confirmed White Horse as champions of the Cradley Tuesday Night League as with one fixture remaining they are four points clear of their nearest rivals Crown (Station Road) who had an 8-1 win at Roost ‘B’, not a good week for the Roost, the win guaranteeing Crown the runners up spot.

With the league all done and dusted the Brierley Hill Monday Night League have been involved in the semi finals of their League Cup the first of which saw a close battle between the third and fourth finishers in the league High Acres and Blue Brick with the 5-4 result going in favour of the latter.
The second semi was also 5-4 with The Bridge who ended the season as runners up beating The Swan who finished some 24 points behind them.

Some close wins in the Netherton Thursday Night League as the games between White Horse and Dudley Sports and Social, Crown versus Bulls Head and Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club against Delph Bell ‘B’ all went to a deciding seventh game, with wins for Dudley Sports, Bulls Head and the Ex Serviceman’s Club.
Dudley Sports with 39 points from 14 games lead the field with White Swan second having a superior average but trailing by three points. Third placed Bulls Head are on the same 36 points as White Swan but have played one game more than their rivals.

After seven games in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League Pensnett Welfare Club are still going strong, a 4-3 win at Miners (Wollescote) keeping the ‘A’ side in pole position with 14 points and a slightly better average than their ‘B’ team in second place who won 5-2 at home against Ten Arches.
Brickmakers Arms and Samson and Lion are both on 12 points two short of the leading duo, in turn they won 4-3 at Fox Inn (Lye) and Britannia.

Congratulations to Dewdrop whose 6-1 win over Jolly Collier have won the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League with three games still to go. Island Inn and Old Hop Pole are battling it out for the runners up spot, Island Inn beating fourth in the table The Vine 4-3 to keep them two points ahead of Old Hop Pole with a superior average, Old Hop Pole had a 5-2 home win over Sportsman.
Horseley Tavern have been rooted to the foot of the table all season and in the latest fixtures almost recorded their first win of the campaign as they forged a 3-1 lead against their visitors New Talbot but then lost the remaining three games and went down 4-3.

Wins for the top teams in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League, leaders Ashwood ‘A’ winning 6-1 at home against Hollybush to stay four points ahead of Miners Welfare who won 5-2 at Dudley Sports, Welfare in turn are two points to the good on Gornal Conservative Club who beat Ten Arches ‘B’ 4-3, Brickmakers Arms who had a 6-1 win at Crestwood and Britannia who were 4-3 winners against Wombourne Cricket Club. Making up the top six are Ashwood ‘B’, they played away to bottom of the table Hare and Hounds and won 6-1.

The Nutan strengthened their position at the top of both the 301 and 501 leagues in the Bilston and District league as they won 4-3 away to fourth in the 301 league table Allens Sports Bar ‘A’ and 2-1 against the same team in the 501 league.
In the 301 league Nutan have a four points lead over second placed Lanesfield RBL who won their home game against Red Lion 6-1 and have a game in hand on Nutan.
The 501 is a similar situation with Nutan top on 16 points with Lanesfield second four points behind with a game in hand, Lanesfield winning 3-0 against Red Lion.
Tilted Barrel were in top form after a 5-2 win over Triangle Snooker Club in the 301 league they followed up beating them 3-0 in the 501 with Lee Cox and Jamie Hughes recording a 9 darts game, Hughes also notching a maximum and Mark Hampton registering a break of 160.

The Pip Club League got their new season underway and in division one with an 8-1 win over Winning Post its Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) who top the table, Birchmoor Club are close behind with their 6-3 win against Globe (Wilnecote).
In the second division Queens Head lead the way, an 8-1 win at Progressive Club putting them just one leg of average ahead of Sports Bar ‘180’ who won 7-2 at Pip Club.

Riley’s ‘C’, leaders in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League suffered a 4-3 defeat away to second in the table Gilberts Bar, however the result was immaterial as Riley’s are ten points ahead of Gilberts with the title all sewn up.
Sunbeam lost their number one position in division two when they amazingly lost 6-1 away to middle of the table Wednesfield Legion ‘B’ and although they have the same 32 points as new leaders Pavilion, who won 4-3 at Bird in Hand they trail on average by one single leg.
Third in the table Dog and Partridge won 7-0 against bottom placed Red Lion to put them also on 32 points, they are three legs short of Pavilion, with games fast running out there is going to be a real battle for the title as any one of the top three could win it.

No change at the top of the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League, leaders Cleveland Arms winning their home tie with Dog and Partridge 5-2 to stay two points ahead of Whitmore Reans WMC who won 4-3 against Moreton and have a game in hand on Cleveland, but they are well behind on average, and third placed Riley’s A’ were 5-2 winners at ECC ‘B’ to remain eight points behind the leaders.
