In the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League Shard End Social made it eleven wins in twelve outings as they defeated St Annes by 6-3. K.Richards (St Anne’s) recorded a 160 break for the home side but it was not enough to avoid defeat and stop the visitors extending their lead at the top of the table to four points over their nearest rivals EBAHA.
In division one leader’s Three horseshoes extended their unbeaten run to twelve matches with an 8-1 win at the British Telecom Club. It’s as you were in division two as the top four teams, Lyndon Arms, Kierans, Silver Wings and Dovecote Flyers all chalked up 5-4 wins over respective opponents Heathway, Yardley Ex Colts, Lyndon Arrows and Shard End RBL.
Hay Mills, second in division three, had a 7-2 home victory over New Inners while R.Shakespeare (Sheldon Shoes) had a 160 break, as his team strolled to a comfortable 8-1 home win against Hobs Meadow.

Red Arrows completed the first half of the season in the Forest of Arden Winter League with an 8-1 home win over Heart of England, to keep intact their 100% win record. Second placed Silver Wings won 6-3 at home to Sheldon Ivy Leaf similarly third placed Hobs Meadow kept up the pressure on the leaders as they, al so playing at home, won 6-3 against Hunters Moon. Harvester, on the same 16 points as Silver Wings and Hobs Meadow, beat Cornerstones 7-2, Colin Clarke having a 160 break in the process.

The top five teams in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League all recorded wins in their latest fixtures. Coventry Howitzers, currently in pole position with 113 points, had a 7-1 win over Kettlebrook Tamworth, while second placed Bedworth Bank’s won 6-2 at Minworth. Third place goes to Birmingham Midland Red who registered the week’s biggest win, an 8-0 home victory against bottom of the table Midland Red Harborne. In fourth and fifth positions are Tamworth and Birmingham Old Wharf who had 5-3 and 7-2 wins over, in turn, Coventry Bishopgate and Coventry potters Green.

In the Acocks Green Winter League top team Tyseley WMC had a 7-2 success at Tyesley Staff. Chasing Tyseley are Journeys End who also came up trumps, winning 6-3 at home to Plume of Feathers. Red Rooster stormed to a 6-0 advantage against Brewers Arms, Arms made the final scoreline a little more respective by taking the last three games.

It was not good news for either Warwickshire or West Midlands in their latest fixtures in the BDO Inter Counties Championship. Warwickshire who have not won since the season’s opener against London in September, travelled north to Doncaster where they took on Yorkshire in their premier division match. The men’s ‘A’ and ‘B’, both still seeking their first win of the campaign went down 8-4 and 9-3 respectively. The women’s ‘B’ with two previous wins and two draws, suffered their first reverse of the season, as they lost 4-2, the ‘A’ side however proved to be the only shining light of the weekend as they gained a 4-2 victory.
In division two, West Midlands were hoping to make it three consecutive wins as they took on Leicestershire at the Chubb Sports and Social Club, Wolverhampton. There were mixed fortunes for the men and women as the two ‘A’ teams won and the two ‘B’ sides lost. The men’s ‘A’ won 7-5 with Dave Robbins (34.16) man of the match. For the ‘B’ it was Steve Penwright (26.84) who got the award as his team went down 8-4, their first defeat of the season. Dawn Holdcroft (20.46) was the top player for the ’A’ team as they won 4-2 while Claire Downing (18.45) starred in the ‘B’s 5-1 upset.
