Derbyshire after being promoted to division one of the BDO Inter County Championships in the 2014 – 2015 season had a very testing season where they struggled to produce the sort of form that had earned them the step up to the higher division and failed to win a single game in the nine played and suffered a very early return to division two. Nevertheless the experience in division one will now be carried forward as they begin the new season with a home tie against Hertfordshire who are newly promoted from division three. So a win in the opening game of the season is a real possibility, one that would go a long way to restoring the confidence that was surely lost in last season’s campaign and put Derbyshire back on the road for a new push for a quick return to division one.
