An 8-1 win by E.B.A.H.A. over Stechford Social in the Sheldon and District League has seen them go to the top of the Premier Division. Second placed Sheldon Heath Social with a 160 break and a 7 darts leg from J.Randell defeated Olton R.B.L. 6-3, while Smiths Wood Snooker Club moved off the bottom of the table with a 5-4 success against St Annes aided by a 180 from F.Gregory.

In division one Three Horseshoes hold pole position after a convincing 8-1 win over Sheldon Heath Dukes. Dukes and K.D.L.C. are level on points with the leaders but have an inferior average. K.Wildman (British Telecom) hit a maximum as his team went down 5-4 at Kingshurst Labour Club.

The top two teams in division two, Kierans and Dovecote both had 5-4 wins over respective opponents Lyndon Arms and Heathway.

Hobs Meadow maintained their 100% record in division three beating Tipsy Gent 8-1. Glebe, in second place, who have lost just one match, kept up the pressure with a 6-3 home win against Lea Hall Mixed.

L.Scullion (Beeches) was in top form in his team’s 8-1 away win at the Brook, in the Harborne and District Winter League, breaking with 160 and recording a seven darts leg in the process. Bartley Green Social Club made it two wins in as many outings romping to an 8-1 success at the expense of Hillyfields ‘A’.

T.Collier hit a maximum for Village Stump in division three as they hammered Highlander ladies 8-1. However in the premier division results were much closer as Wernley, Midland Red and Raven won 5-4 against in turn Londonderry, Hobsons Choice and Hillyfields ‘B’.

The singles and doubles finals have been on the agenda for the Harborne 401 Summer League and taking the singles title with a final 2-0 win over T.Byrne (Avenue), was Highlanders D.Smith. The doubles competition was won by D.Bourne and K.Harding of the Monarch. Avenue representatives yet again had to be content with the runners up spot and on this occasion it was P.Brotherton and T.McGlone.

After completing three fixtures Red Arrows are the only team to boast an unbeaten record in the Forest of Arden Winter League. Arrows latest success came at the expense of Silver Wings who lost 6-3 to the league leaders. Close on the heels of the top team are Silver Wings, Hobs Meadow, Cornerstones and Heart of England who have all dropped two points.

The Acocks Green Summer League rounded off their season with the singles knockout. Playing at Shirley Legion, Tyseley W.M.C. representative Tommy Kelly took the title with a final 2-0 win over the host’s Malcolm Tysall. Losing semi finalists were Dave Hesketh (Shirley Legion) and Ronnie Walton (Tyseley W.M.C.).

Coventry Howitzers consolidated thier number spot in the Warwickshire Mens Super League with an emphatic 7-1 away victory over bottom of the table Rugby. With 57 points Howitzers are six points better off than their nearest rivals Birmingham Midland Red who had a 6-2 win at Minworth.

Old Oscott on eight points lead the field in the Amber Windows League. Their latest fixture was against bottom of the table Seventh Trap, the result a convincing 9-0 whitewash in favour of the leaders. In the bottom of the

 

table clash between Aston Social and Bagot Arms, it was the latter who got the 6-3 verdict. Other 6-3 winners were Kynoch Social and Vauxhall Social who won in turn against the Mitre and the Robuck.

After an encouraging 26-13 win against London, in the curtain raiser of the premier division of the B.D.O. Inter Counties Championships, Warwickshire were bought back down to earth as they lost 28-11 away to Kent.

Both mens teams failed to win, the ‘A’ going down 8-4, Mark Holyoake their top man with a 31.60 average. Peter Rouse was the ‘B’ side’s man of the match with a 26.34 average in their 10-2 defeat.

The women’s ‘A’ finished 4-2 down while the ‘B’ team produced the weekend’s best performance, a 3-3 draw. Taking the match awards were Cheryl Jackson (22.51) and Jo Clements (20.31) for the A and B respectively.

West Midlands are also finding the going tough. In division two their latest fixture was an away game against Oxfordshire. Both men’s teams finished with 8-4 results. However not both of them were in West Midlands favour. The men’s ‘A’ were losers with Gary Taylor (26.80) taking the match award. For the ‘B’ team Dave Robbins was the man of the match with a 31.55 average as they romped to an 8-4 victory.

Similar to the men, the women also had the same scorelines. But unfortunately the 4-2 results both went to the hosts. Top average for the ‘A’ was 18.76 from Angie Perry. Francis Allen (16.73) was the ‘B’ side’ top player.
