The Winmau Darts Centre at the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, Dunstall, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, WV6 0QU is the place to be if you want to play in either singles or team leagues throughout the week plus it is also home to top knockouts and in the very near future there are a variety to choose from.
Over the weekend of the 25th and 26th July the centre will host the BDO Festival of Youth Darts which includes no fewer than six events over the two days.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be an Under 18 Challenge Tour which will be open to male and female players plus an 18 -25 Men’s Young Players Challenge, all four competitions will carry a first prize of £400 and will have a total prize fund of £1,000 together with a Winmau place for the Under 18 event and two Winmau and Lakeside play offs for the 18 -25 competitions.
Entry to each of these events will cost £10 and players should register at either 10.00am on Saturday or 1.00pm on Sunday. For the Under 18 competition players must be under 18 on the 7th January 2016 and for the 18 – 25 event under 25 on the 26th July 2015.
In addition to these four competitions there will also be an 18 – 25 Ladies Young Players Challenge on Saturday which again will be £10 to enter for players who will be under 25 on the 26th July 2015. There will be a total prize pot of £600 with the winner collecting £200 again plus two Winmau and Lakeside play-offs, registration for this event will be 10.00am
Rounding off the weekend’s events on Sunday there will be a British Teenage Mixed Singles carrying a total prize fund of £1,000 with a top prize of £400 for the winner plus a Winmau place. To enter players must be under 20 on the 26th July 2015. Registration will be 10.00am on Sunday with a £10 entry fee.

The Winmau Centre will also be staging a regional heat for the West Midlands leg of the Worthington Champion of Champions Competition which will be staged at the Wolverhampton Arena over the weekend of the 11th and 12th of July.
With a free entry the competition carries an amazing total of £17,000 prize money with a top prize of £5,000 for the eventual national winner plus cash prizes down to the last 32 players.
All men and women, along with juniors aged 14 or over, get free entry; and the winner
of the heat will go forward to the finals in St David’s Hall, Cardiff on August 30th with the chance to walk away with £5,000.

On the league scene at the time of going to print and after completing eighteen games The Untouchables lead the way in the Winmau Monday Night League having won seventeen of their games and having amassed a total of 634 points. In their latest fixture they were held to a somewhat close 27-21 win against fifth in the table Whats The Point, the game including no fewer than nine maximums, three each for Roger Lockley and Shaun Bould of Whats The Point, two for Andy Busby, one for his Untouchables team mate Dan Edmunds, plus Busby had a 141 finish.
Second placed The Bully Boys had a convincing 45-3 win over bottom of the table Make Mine A Double to reduce the arrears on the leaders to 15 points.
Other players to find the three treble twenties were Gemma Jenkins (Three Men And A Lady), Jason Hough (Misfits), Kristian Wharton, Louis Burley, Conrad Taylor, Owen Maiden (Cupid Stunts), Andy Croydon (Make Mine A Double) and Tim Burden (Here For The Beer), Owen Maiden also had the best finish of the night 151.

In the Winmau Thursday Night League Kevin Lane with an unbeaten seventeen games leads the way with 101 points his nearest rival is Kevin Harris who has 95 points from 15 wins. Third in the table Dean Marshall has 79 points however he has two games in hand on the two players above him and there is a long way still to go.

The centre’s knockouts like the leagues are growing more and more popular attracting league, super league, county and both BDO and PDC players the latest of which saw PDC Derbyshire man Matt Padgett, despite being taken the full eleven legs distance by Warwickshire county player Ashley Hykin come out the winner.
Padgett also had a close victory in the semis where he squared up to West Midlands county player Rob Thompson, the result being 5-4, while Hykin had a more comfortable 5-1 success against Kristian Wharton.
The centre will now be staging a knockout at the Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Racecourse Road, Dunstall, Wolverhampton, WV6 0QY the first Thursday in every month so why not drop along test your darting skills and add a little more cash to your bank balance.
