Hot off the press is the news that Kevin (The Artist) Painter has signed a new deal, joining forces with a relatively new sports management team, BW9 Sports Management who also look after Matt Edgar, someone who Kevin is very familiar with on the darts circuit.
After a disappointing run of results, Kevin feels he is at a turning point, as his form returns and he’s qualified for back to back European Tour events, which come with £115,000 each in prize money to be won.
“Signing up with BW9 has come at a great time for me, just as my form has started to pick up again. Having Wayne and Becky behind me will help me keep my focus on the things that matter; winning my games of darts” said Kevin.
Kevin will proudly represent BW9 in his next PDC events, and in his many upcoming darts exhibitions, he has been participating in the Midlands Invitational Elite Singles Darts League held in Coventry, run by BW9 Sports Management, over the past few weeks tops the table ahead of Nigel Heydon in second place.

The Riley’s Snooker Bar, Solihull is one of sixteen Riley’s clubs that has been playing host to the qualifying rounds of the Darts Club Championship which carries a prize fund of £22,000.
For twelve weeks throughout June, July and August there have been Club Championship rounds to produce twelve winners who in the thirteenth week will then do battle for the title of Club Champion.
The top four players from each club will then take part in the Riley’s Darts Club Championship Final on Saturday 5th September to produce the Club GB Champion.
At the time of going to print the winners from the first six qualifiers at the Solihull club and through to the club final are Mike Green, Tony Randell, Luis Barberan, Rob Singleton, Wayne Mynard and Dean Sanders each of whom have already won £75 as a weekly winner and are in with the chance of going through to the grand finals where there will be a top prize of £1,000.

Riley’s Solihull was also the setting for the Pub Players Darts Competition which saw Mike McFall win the final against Trevor Frost 4-1, the same scoreline by which McFall had taken out Mike Smith in the semi’s, Frost had booked his final spot with a very close 4-3 result against Marr Gallett in his last four game.

The Greets Green Second Sunday Darts Competition proved to be yet again a huge success and taking the winners £400 prize was Tim Green who had a final win over Wayne Willis who picked up £150.
Losing semi finalists Matt Tedstone and Graham Hall each received £50 and there was £25 for Trevor Brennan, Robbie Green, Ian Jones and Joshua Richardson who all went out in the quarter finals.
Robbie Green added another £100 to his £25 as he hit the most maximums a total of NINE!!.

The Crown at Shard End was the venue hosting the charity game between the South Birmingham League and Air Ambulance representative teams, the result, which on occasions like this is secondary was actually a 12-5 to South Birmingham.
The most important statistic was that of the tremendous amount of £365 that the evening raised for such a worthy cause.
South Birmingham’s Peter Shipley was the only player on the night to notch a maximum.

Week twelve of the Ripley Elite Darts Singles Summer League and leading the way in the premier division is Daz Brown with a total of 70 points from 14 games. Brown’s nearest threat for the title comes in the form of Paul Baker who has played the same number of games but trails by a huge ten points. After Baker comes Chris Hill and Dave Allcock who are both a further eight points adrift with 52 points.
Colin Rich is placed fifth in the table and he has notched the most 180’s so far a total of 10, while the highest finish which again is the highest possible of 170 has been recorded by Andy Gillott. Two players, Daz Brown and Ant Parry share the least darts of twelve and Paul Baker has the best average of 32.20.
In division one Tony Palfreyman leads the way on 55 points from 13 games, but unlike in the premier division his nearest rivals are much closer, Lee Stanley and Ian Clarke are on the same 55 points lagging behind slightly on average only.
Lee Stanley currently holds the highest finish and least darts which are in turn 145 and 13. Ian Clarke leads the way on the number of maximums he has hit six and the highest average is held by Paul Hodges 26.93.

On the local league scene the Sheldon and District Winter League rounded off their season with the finals of their Jubilee Trophy and Vice Presidents Trophy.
Winner of the Jubilee Trophy was Alan Mayell who with a superb 119 outshot to beat Dave Mortiboys in the final. In the last four games Mayell beat Kris Green while Mortiboys accounted for Jimmy Green.
The Vice Presidents Trophy title went to S.Gardiner by default as the other two players B.Nixon and T.Frost both failed to turn up.

Taking the honours in the Camp Hill Mixed Doubles Knockout were Jules and Noreen Harris from Holy Souls, the duo winning the final against Devil’s Club representatives Arthur and Jean Forde.

The Halesowen Friday Night 501 League staged their fifth Air Ambulance Knockout and raised a total of £63 to take their running total to £472.
The winner of the knockout was Richard Hill who had a 3-0 win over Shropshire’s Kevin Harris in the final after Harris had got off to a great start with 2×140 but missed his finishing doubles and Hill went on to win the leg and the game.
Richard beat Simon Booton in the semis while Kevin won against Dan McConomy.

The title for the Aston League could not have been more closely contested as Kingstanding Ex Serviceman’s Club won the title but by the narrowest of margins as they finished with 32 points the same number as runners up Sportsmans Rest the difference being Kingstanding had 123 legs for opposed to Sportsmans 120, just three legs of average separating the two teams. Third placed Red Lion were not far behind either as they ended the campaign with 30 points just two short of the top two.

The Tamworth League staged the finals of their Mile Oak Challenge Cup and once again it was reigning league champions and current league leaders Fox and Dogs who came out on top. In the semi finals they won 4-1 against Old Liberal House and joining them in the final was Dolphin ‘A’ who beat Globe Inn (Wilnecote).
The final saw Fox and Dogs beat Dolphin ‘A’ 4-0 the same scoreline by which they recently defeated Dolphin ‘B’ in the final of the Paul Caswell Memorial Cup, not really been a good time for the Dolphins!!
