In their latest BDO Inter Counties Championship premier division game Warwickshire extended their unbeaten run to four games. Playing a tough home game against Yorkshire the hosts fought back from 11-7 down on Saturday to finish the weekend all square at 18-18.
Julie Dwyer (14.43) was the sole winner for the ladies ’B’, while the men’s ’B’, with Pat Koyce (27.83) their man of the match had a 6-6 draw. On Sunday the ladies extended their winning run to five games with a 4-2 victory. Clare Bywaters, with a super 27.83 average took the match award. The men’s ’A’ came up trumps with a 7-5 win, their top player being Kevin Dowling, who had a tremendous 31.68 average.
In division three West Midlands travelled to Wales to face a tough Clwyd outfit. With both teams chasing promotion defeat could prove to be very costly. Saturday’s games put the Midlands side well on their way to an overall win as the ladies won 4-2 and the men 8-4, leaving them requiring just seven winners the following day.
The ladies ’A’ went down 4-2, but a 7-5 success by the men gave them a superb 21.15 victory. Award winners were, Sara Jukes (18.33 ‘B’), Clare Downing (17.01 ‘A’), Adrian Arnold (25.47 ‘B’) and Richard Foster (29.96 ‘A’).
