In division two of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands travelled north to take on fellow relegation battlers Humberside. It was a fixture the Midlanders could ill afford to lose, but lose they did. Both ladies team’s went down 5-1 with Claire Downing (12.72) the ‘B’ winner and Gill Cook (16.16) supplying the ‘A’ team their sole win.
The men’s teams also failed to find a win as the ‘B’ lost 8-4 and the ‘A’ 9-3. Paddy Johnson (25.05) and Ian Jones (28.20) took the respective match award trophies.
With one fixture remaining West Midlands are now just eleven points ahead of bottom of the table Gwent and ten points adrift of Humberside who are two places off the bottom.
