Warwickshire and Worcestershire played their pre-season friendly at the Brindley Moor Social Club, Redditch. From the word go the home team took the lead in the men’s match and although Warwickshire drew level on three occasions they never fell behind until the thirteenth and final encounter. In that deciding clash Peter Brotherton forged ahead twice against Tommy Johnson before winning the decider in fifteen darts giving the visitors a 7-6 win.

Warwickshire ladies defeated their counterparts by a 5-3 margin giving the county an overall 12-9 victory.

Also on the agenda for the Warwickshire County has been the Winmau men’s and women’s play offs. Seventy five players turned out at the Belgrave Sports and Social Club, Tamworth for the men’s event. The two winners going through to represent the county in the next round at Trentham Gardens on Sunday 1st November are Kevin Dowling (Bedworth Banks) and Jim Kiernan (Minworth).

In the women’s knockout twenty players battled it out for the one place in the Trentham finals. Taking the title with a memorable 3-0 victory over Birmingham Central’s Lesley Newcombe was Northfield representative Julie Liddell.
