With only one league fixture remaining in the Sheldon and District Winter League cup games are taking over and the latest one’s have been the singles and doubles knockouts. In the singles competition the title went to Marston Green Tavern player Tony Randell who after a 2-1 semi final win over Ashley Kavanagh (Mackadown Social) he then defeated Rob Earl (Raven) 2-1 in the final. Earl had won his last four game against his Raven team mate Steven Whatmore 2-0.
The final of the doubles knockout was an all Crown affair fought out between Bob Nixon and John Sidwell (Crown at Olton) and Jason Prince and Neil Parsonage (Crown at Shard End), the outcome was a 2-0 win for Nixon and Sidwell.
In the semi finals the champions took out Paul Connolly and Trevor Frost (Banbury Club) with a 2-1 scoreline while Prince and Parsonage beat Sean O’Donnell and Paul Curry (Sheldon Dukes) 2-0.

Miners (Wollescote) have gone back to the top of the Brierley Hill Friday Night League after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to next to bottom of the table Mitre giving them 24 points from 15 games and a lead of two points over second in the table Brickmakers Arms who lost pole position after a shock 5-4 home defeat at the hands of the Bell who are placed seventh in the league.

With three fixtures to play in the Kings Norton League, Court Oak are champions with a perfect 19 wins in as many games, they hold a six points lead over their nearest rivals Toby Jug ‘A’ who have played one game more than Court Oak and with just two to play they can only reach 36 points.
This week’s fixtures produced the final of the League Cup and saw the league champions add another title to their list. Playing against The Navigation who are in the bottom half of the table Court Oak were held to a very close 4-3 winning margin as Navigation put up a brave performance and were somewhat unlucky not to achieve the win against a team that obviously had strength in depth.

The Halesowen Monday Night Ladies League played their doubles knockout and with only six of the nineteen entries turning up played down to the final three pairs and winning through were, V.Meese & G.Montrose (Park Lane Tavern), T.Summers & C.White, T.Grainger & S.Farley (Spring Meadow).

Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) were the only losers in the top five of the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, surprisingly losing 5-4 away to seventh placed Blue Brick. Dudley Sports ‘A’ move up one to fourth with their 6-3 win over Dog and Lamppost ‘B’, while the top three teams remain unchanged as leaders Dudley Sports ‘C’ won their home tie with The Swan 7-2 to give them 28 points from 15 games and pole position but only on average from Bridge ‘B’ who won 6-3 at Queens Head (Wordsley) giving them the same 28 points, but they do trail heavily on average.
High Acres who won 7-2 against Tenth Lock are third, four points behind the leading duo but having played one game more than both of them.

No Change at the top of the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League as the top four teams all recorded wins. Top of the table Dewdrop had a 5-2 home win over Jolly Collier, while second placed Old Hop Pole had a closer 4-3 win against Hayes Social leaving them six points adrift of Dewdrop and although they have three games in hand they would still trail on average if they won all of them 7-0.

The Small Heath League played off the final of their Upside Down Cup and Emerald Club gained sweet revenge on The Mitre who beat them in the final league fixture of the season and replaced them in second place to clinch the runners up spot.
The cup final like the league game was also a very close affair with Emerald just running out the 5-4 winners.

Week two of the new season in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League and newcomers Gornal Conservative Club have taken over the number one spot from Ten Arches ‘B’ who lost 5-2 at Wombourne Cricket Club. The Gornal side had a convincing 7-0 win away to The Fox (Lye) to leave them and Ashwood ‘A’ the only two teams in the league with an unbeaten record, Ashwood ‘A’ wining their game at The Swan 6-1

Despite winning 6-3 at home to third placed West Heath Snooker Club Court Oak have been knocked off the top spot in the Harborne League as their nearest rivals Hillyfields ‘A’ had a 9-0 success away to next to bottom Avenue Social to put them ahead on average over both Court Oak and West Heath Snooker Club.
At the other end of the table there’s still no joy for Weoley Castle WMC as they slumped to their tenth successive defeat, an 8-1 reversal away to Abbey.

Members Club ‘A’ consolidated their number one place in the Halesowen Friday Night League with a 6-1 win at Ex Serviceman’s Club to maintain their two points advantage over Chop House who had a close 4-3 verdict at home to The Laurels to give them 16 points. Third placed The Vine are a further two points adrift after winning 7-0 at The Hare and Hounds, a win in their game in hand would see them move up into second place.

The semi finals of the League and Consolation Cups were the order of the day for the Camp Hill League and the results went more or less to form as in the League Cup Scruffy Ringers and Cotterills Lane Club in turn defeated Journeys End and Lions.
In the Consolation Cup Holy Gulp beat Wagon and in the final they will now meet Devil’s Club who accounted for Horses.

In the Winmau Centre Monday Night League at Wolverhampton Sports Arena The Untouchables closed the gap on leaders The Bully Boys to just nine points when they chalked up a massive 39-9 win over Keep It In The Family, Bully Boys had a slightly closer but nevertheless convincing 35-13 success against Yam Yams.
John Jones was the star player for Here For The Beer winning eight of his twelve legs and at the same time notching his first maximum of the campaign, however his efforts were not enough for his team to avoid a 29-19 defeat at the hands of the Not So Far Travellers.

Only two fixtures played in division one of the Pip Club League which saw leaders Birchmoor Club extend their lead at the top of the table to three points with a 6-2 win at bottom of the table Wigginton Arms. In the other game played Tamworth Motor Spares beat Two Gates Club 5-3.
In division two the top two teams J W Belgrave and Pip Club played each other, with home advantage Belgrave finished the 13-3 winners extending their lead over their opponents to nine points. Pip Club now have to keep an eye over their shoulder as Sports Bar ‘180’s’ 10-6 win over Royal Oak has taken them to within two points of the second placed team and they also have a game in hand on them.
There was joy at the other end of the table as bottom team Globe ‘B’ chalked up only their second win in 24 games when they won 11-5 at home against next to bottom Bulls Head ‘B’ (Polesworth).

Due to them having a bye in the latest round of fixtures in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League ECC have lost pole position to Wednesfield FC who extended their winning run to ten games with a 6-1 win at home to Corpus. Wednesfield FC, ECC and Victoria who won 5-2 against fourth placed Bradmore ‘B’ are all on ten points.
Bradmore ‘A’ moved off the foot of the table with a 6-1 home win over Riley’s ‘D’, Ashmore Inn dropping to bottom following their 6-1 defeat at Village.
In the second division Old Stags Head were the only losers in the top five teams losing 4-3 away to third in the table Roebuck. Pheasant stay on course for the title with a 4-3 home win over Woodfield Social, Fordhouses CC and Roebuck are both just two points behind the leaders Fordhouses winning their home tie with Emerald 4-3.

Fox and Dogs reigning Tamworth League champions moved up into second place in the table with a 5-2 win against Sports Bar ‘180’ overtaking Belgrave Club who beat Longwood 4-3, both team are now on 145 points, Belgrave having played one game more than Fox and Dogs, Dolphin ‘A’ stay in the top spot with a 6-1 win over Mile Oak Rovers.

After playing thirteen games the top two teams in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League Riley’s ‘A’ and Otter and Vixen are locked together on 22 points. Claregate dropped two places to fifth following their 5-2 home defeat by leaders Riley’s ‘A’ which keeps Riley’s just ahead on average of Otter and Vixen who won their home tie with Moreton 4-3. Village Inn take over at number three with a 4-3 win away to bottom of the table Brewood British Legion.
