West Midlands most recent fixture in division two of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships was a home tie against Northamptonshire the result was they chalked up their biggest win of the season so far a 25-11 success that saw them move one place up the promotion table to fourth.
In addition to their biggest win it was also the first time in this campaign that all four of the teams won. Both ladies teams won 4-2 with Gamma Barrett (17.48) taking the ‘B’ team’s award and Sarah Roberts made it seven consecutive match awards from the seven games played with a 20.88 average.
For the men Ian Jones was again in tremendous form for the ‘A’ side as he came from 2-0 and 3-1 down to Nigel Crane to win 4-3 with winning legs of 15, 11, 12 and 18 darts and an award winning 30.74 average. Nick Fullwell took the ‘B’ team’s award with his 25.91 average.
The win leaves West Midlands twelve points off top team Somerset, eleven behind second placed Cleveland and seven adrift of Derbyshire in third place.

With three fixtures remaining in the Sheldon and District Winter League, Saltley Amateur Gardeners, with a 7-2 home win over their nearest rivals Crown at Shard End have won the premier division title. With a perfect 38 points from 19 games, Saltley have an eight points lead over second placed Crown at Shard End and although third in the table Highwood ‘A have four games to play they are ten points off the leaders.
In division one Raven’s 7-2 win at Custard House has given them an eight point’s lead over second in the table EBAHA, Raven have four games remaining while EBAHA have six, mathematically Raven can be caught but the chances are now very remote. Willclare Sports and Social lost ground in the runners up chase going down 6-3 at Sheldon Social.
The two top teams in division two played each other in the latest round of fixtures, leaders Crown Arrows hosting Baldwin Bears. The 7-2 result went in favour of Crown Arrows to give them a four point’s lead over their opponents, both teams have three games to play, but time appears to be running out for Baldwin Bears.

As the Four Oaks and District League winds down its season cup finals have been the order of the day. First in the Central Container Services sponsored Individual Doubles, last year’s winners M.Archer and W.Mynard (The Nomads) lost 3-2 to M.Partridge and J.Prince (The Beehive) in an outstanding high scoring match that went to the wire in the final game.
In the Coronation Shield division one champions Sutton Sports retained the title, inflicting a heavy 8-2 defeat on their divisional runnes up The Nomads. The Norman Day Cup also saw the title holders hang on to their crown as The Beehive beat Bishop Vesey 8-2. The Challenge Cup was a much closer affair with Bromford Lions just edging out Bishop Vesey 5-3, Bishop Vesey, despite losing two finals on the night made Bromford Lions fight all the way for their result.
M.Partridge (The Beehive) and C.Millward snr (The Nomads) both hit a maximum.

The Camp Hill League played off the semi finals of their League and Consolation Cup’s. In the league cup there were wins for Gulp Tribe and Cotterlls Lane Club against respective opponents Station Hotel and Bordesley Labour Club to set up an intriguing final between the current two top teams in the league.
The Consolation Cup saw Scruffy Ringers beat Wagonners and Westminster Lions take out Devil’s Club.

It was top versus bottom in the Netherton Thursday Night League as leaders Rose and Crown won 8-1 at Bull and Bladder to keep them top of the table with 48 points, but only on average as Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club, after a 5-4 win away to fifth in the table Brickmakers ‘B’ are on the same 48 points and have a game in hand on the top team.

Gulp Tribe made it six straight wins in the Small Heath League when they won 7-2 at Emerald Club Flights. It was not such good news for Sheldon Marlborough Flights as they lost by the same margin at Emerald Club and have slipped from second to fifth in the table, Emerald however move up one place to second.

At week 17 in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League, reigning champions Coventry Bishopsgate are once again leading the field. With a total of 120 points Bishopsgate are 10 points clear of second in the table Brandon, but Brandon do have two games in hand on the leaders and the title now looks certain to go to one of these two teams as third placed Birmingham Midland Red area further 19 points adrift.

Little change in the Pip Club League as the top four teams all recorded wins this week. Bulls Head ‘A’ remain in pole with 35 points following their 11-5 win at Belgrave Club, with Birchmoor Club four points behind after a 10-6 win against Sports Bar ‘180’. Dolphin hold on to third place with a 14-2 win at Bulls Head ‘B’ and on the same 29 points as Dolphin is Wilnecote Club, who beat Longwood 14-2.

With only a handful of games remaining in the Stourbridge Wednesday Night League Bridge ‘A’ consolidated their number one spot and their bid for the title with a convincing 6-1 home win over Gigmill. Bridge now have 48 points from 25 games, a lead of four points over second in the table Ten Arches ‘A’, who won 4-3 at home to Netherton Cricket Cub ‘A’ and have played one game more than the leaders.
Congratulations to Dudley Sports T.Bingham who in his team’s 6-1 win at the Leopard registered a maximum break of 170.

Crown ‘A’, leaders in the Cradley Tuesday Night League had a bye this week and the four teams nearest to them all took advantage to reduce the arrears by winning. Chainmakers ‘B’ and a massive 8-1 home win over Hasbury Inn to take them within two points of the top team on 20 points, but having played one game more. Brickmakers and Members Club are both on 18 points after respective wins over Hawne Lane Tavern and Gate (Darby End), while Roost ‘A’ in fifth place are on 14 points after a close 5-4 verdict at Wheatsheaf.
Prince of Wales have moved to Riddins Tavern, they registered a rare win as they beat Crown ‘B’ 6-3.

With five matches remaining in the Stourbridge Monday Night League anyone of the top four teams are still mathematically in with a chance of taking the title, but in reality it does look as though it will go to one of the top two High Acres (60 points) or Brickmakers (58 points). Third placed Ten Arches have 56 points and fourth in the table Bird ‘A (Stourbridge) are a further four points behind.
The Plough, who lost 6-3 at home to Ten Arches have now lost their last five games, however, they still head the Shadow League, but now by only one leg of average over Bird ‘B’ (Stourbridge) who are on the same 14 points.

Riley’s moved another step closer to securing the Aston League title when they beat fifth placed Heartlands Social 7-2 to extend their unbeaten run to nineteen games and give them a four points buffer over their nearest rivals Sportsmans Rest, who won their game at Oscott Social 5-4.
With Sportsmans on 34 points there is then a gap of eight points, Red Lion, Old Oscott WMC and Heartlands Social all on 26 points.

It was cup week in the South Birmingham League, the semi finals of the League Cup seeing The Crown beat Coleshill Social 9-0 and Riley’s Kings win 5-4 against Mackadown. In the final league leaders The Crown beat second in the table Riley’s Kings 5-3
The Jimmy Walker Cup was won by the Punch Bowl, who in the final had a 5-3 win over The Dog after they had handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Smithswood Social in the semis. The Dog had won their last four games against The Trident 5-3.

Round one of the Knockout Cup was on the agenda for the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League and winning through to the next round were Pendulum, Whitmore Reans WMC, Moreton, Otter and Vixen ‘B’ and Claregate.

With a 5-2 win at Pheasant, Otter and Vixen took their unbeaten run to seven games in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League and have a four points lead over both Riley’s ‘C’ and Oxbarn, but the chasing two teams have played one game fewer than the leaders.
In division two Riley’s ‘B’ beat Emerald 4-3 and Wednesfield Cons won 5-2 against Wednesfield Legion ‘B’ to put both winning teams on the same 12 points and exactly the same average at the top of the table.

It was a close finish to division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League with Highwood ‘A’ and Crown Arrows, the top two teams playing each other in the final game of the season for a title decider. The result was a 7-2 win for Highwood ‘A’ to put them on 24 points with 86 legs for and leaving Olton Crown second also on 24 points but with 85 legs for, how close was that!!
Division two saw leaders Chelmsley Town lose 5-4 away to their nearest rivals Highwood KB, but despite the defeat Chelmsley still won the title with 26 points four more than Highwood KB.

There were big wins for the top four teams in the Rowley Monday Night League, leaders Crown won 8-1 at Victoria Inn, while the following three teams Springfield Social Club, Ivy Bush ‘Z and The Bell all won 7-2 in turn against Britannia Inn, Hunting Tree and Timber Tree. Crown still hold a two points advantage over the rest of the field.

Played seventeen, won, seventeen, that’s the record for Fox and Dogs in the Tamworth League, their latest conquest being a 6-1 home win over Globe Inn to give them a total of 146 points, 12 more than second placed Dolphin ‘A’ who also won 6-1 at home to Sports Bar ‘180’.
