Week four of the Sheldon and District Summer League saw two of the group’s top teams Riley’s Kings, Castle Vale and Crown at Olton play each other and it was the hosts, Crown who finished on the wrong side of the 5-3 result. Kings, although they have played one more fixture than the rest of the group have a four point’s advantage, second placed Iron Horse went down 5-3 away to Saltley Amateur Gardeners.
Highwood Flights and Sheldon Dukes both lost ground in group two as they finished all square at 4-4, while leaders Mackadown Social were chalking up a massive 7-1 win against Poachers Pocket to put them two points ahead of Highwood Flights, who have a game in hand.
George V ‘A’ made it four straight wins in group three with a 6-2 win at EBAHA and now have a three points lead over both Langley Hall Arrows and Banbury Club, who played each other in a 4-4 draw.
Riley’s Rags had a convincing 7-1 win in group four against Yardley Ex Colts to maintain the unbeaten record and give them a slender one point lead over their nearest rivals Custard House ‘A’, who won 5-3 away to Holy Souls.
After only four fixtures Raven have a clear four points lead in group five, their latest win being 5-3 at home to Willclare Sports and Social, who are second in the table. Also in the group Shirley RBL Misfits chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-3 win at Shard End Social to lift them off the bottom and be replaced by Iron Horse Arrows, who had a 4-4 draw with Sheldon Social.
Leading group six is Highwood KB’s with a one point advantage over Baldwin Bears and in group seven it’s Ivy leaf ‘B’ who are top of the pile with eight points, their nearest rivals Greville Arms have seven points.

The Cradley Tuesday Night League were involved in their singles knockout, the winner being M.Jones from Quarry Bank Liberal Club. Jones won the best of five legs final against Brickmakers J.Sharratt by 3-1, all of the legs closely fought with Sharratt missing his double in the fourth leg to make it 2-2 and force a deciding leg.
Jones beat M.Roberts (Gate, Colley Gate) 2-0 in the semi’s, while Sharratt, also with a 2-0 scoreline took out S.Barrett representing Yeltz Bar.

It was doubles night in the Vic Lloyd Thursday night League and taking the honours with a final win over New Inns duo Matt Dennant and Sean Carroll were Darrell Thorpe and Gavin Baker from Cleveland Arms.
The winning pair had a notable victory in the semi finals when they beat England International Wayne Jones and his partner Stuart Pinches, also from Cleveland Arms. Dennant and Carroll beat John Mycock and Simon Meredith (Whitmore Reans WMC), who in the last sixteen had taken out the reigning champions Simon Pritchard and Mark Curley (Riley’s).

A 7-1 win over Shard End Social has taken Mackadown Social to the top of group ‘A’ in the South Birmingham League with a maximum four points from their opening two games. Toby Jug, who had a 6-2 home win over Kingfisher are hot on the heels of Mackadown as they too have won both of their games so far and only trail on average.
A.Willis found the three treble twenties, but unfortunately his team, Punchbowl finished on the wrong side of a 5-3 result away to Farthings.
The Dog are the only team with a 100% record in group ‘B’, their latest win a 5-3 home success over Banbury Flights, who are currently bottom of the table. Despite a maximum from B.Harris, St John’s could only manage a 4-4 draw in their home tie with The Gate and as a result are now one point adrift of the leaders and in second place in the table.
Only two game completed and no team has an unbeaten record in group ‘C’, Riley’s Kings and Crown at Shard End are both on three points with the former slightly ahead on average.

It’s as you were at the top of the Pip Club overall league with leaders Dolphin winning their home game with Sports Bar ‘180’ 11-5 and second placed Bulls Head (Polesworth) having a 14-2 win against Pip Club. Dolphin, who are on 38 points from 22 games are closely followed by Bulls Head on 36, with a game in hand, then comes Belgrave Club, who had a bye this week and have 34 points from 21 games.
There was a rare win for Royal Oak this week, a 14-2 home win against Gate Inn, only their third success in 22 fixture’s, however the victory still leaves them next to bottom of the table and only two points ahead of Two Gates Club, who are in the bottom place.

Electric, leaders of the second division in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League were the only losers in the top four this week when they suffered a surprising 4-3 defeat away to Emerald, who are eleventh in the table. Electric hold on to pole position, but now they are only top on average as Riley’s ‘A’ won their home game against Castle 5-2 to draw level on 28 points with Electric.
Village ‘B’ and Bull are also now only two points off the top, in turn they beat Roebuck 4-3 and Boat ‘A’ 5-2.
In division one Wolverhampton Sports Arena slipped up losing their home game with Ashmore Inn 4-3 and as a result drop one place to fourth. Leaders Village ‘A’ had a 5-2 win at home to Oxbarn, second placed Otter and Vixen ‘B’ winning their home tie with Golden Lion 6-1 and Victoria, who have taken over third placewon 5-2 at Penn Bowling.

Three teams are level on 30 points at the top of the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League, Wednesfield FC knocked Whitmore Reans WMC down one place to fourth beating them 5-2, while Riley’s ‘B’, who are second won 6-1 at Round Oak. Riley’s ‘A’ are third and they recorded a 5-2 win over Bushbury Arms ‘B’.
Next to bottom Otter and Vixen ‘A’ won for only the second time in 17 games when they beat Wrottesley Arms 6-1.

A 4-3 win against Riley’s Red Arrows keeps Highwood ‘A’ in pole position in Division One of the Forest of Arden Summer League, but only just as second in the table Olton Crown went one better and beat Harvester 5-2 to stay level on points with Highwood and reduce the difference in average to just one leg.
Another Highwood, this time “KB” are top of division two with a maximum six points from their opening three games, a 4-3 win at Chelmsley Town puts Sheldon Flights level on Points with Highwood KB, but they have played one game more.
In division three Riley’s Wings stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a convincing 6-1 home win over Ivy leaf Bulls, Highwood ‘C’ two points behind them in second place.

Gulp Tribe consolidated their number one spot in the Small Heath League with a massive 8-1 home win over Sheldon Marlborough Flights to take their points tally to 38, four ahead of their nearest rivals Emerald Club, plus a game in hand. Emerald Club won their home game with Cobs Bar by 6-3.

The Teamsport Shadow Cup was on the agenda for the Tamworth League in which the bottom four teams play for the title. Staged at the Three Tuns, Fazeley the semi finals saw Tam O’Shanter beat Dolphin Inn 4-3 and Mile Oak Rovers win 4-2 against Anchor Inn. Mile Oak repeated the scoreline in the final beating Tam O’Shanter 4-2.
