The Sheldon and District Winter League rounded off their season with the Jubilee Trophy, a competition for team representatives and members of the management committee. The title went to chairman Alan Mayell, who had a final victory over fellow committee member and league match secretary David Sutton.

Losing semi finalists were, Clarke Horsley (George V), who lost out to Alan Mayell and Tony Dixon (Shirley RBL Flights).

The Sheldon and District League will be holding their Annual General Meeting at the Meadway Sports and Social Club, 235, Kelymead Road, B33 8LJ this coming Sunday, with a 10.30am start.

The Camp Hill’s new season will get underway on Wednesday 12th June their final meeting for registration of teams will be held on Sunday 9th June at the Wagon and Horses, 28 Adderley Street, Digbeth, at 11.00am.

Red Lion missed the opportunity to go top of the Aston League this week, leaders Riley’s having a bye and both they and Red Lion locked together on 32 points, a win for Red Lion in their home fixture against fourth in the table Heartlands would see them go two points clear and having played the same 18 games. However, it was not to be and Heartlands recorded a 6-3 win to leave the top two teams still on 32 points. Heartlands stay in fourth place on 24 points, two adrift of Sportsmans Rest who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts, next to bottom Aston Flights. On form for Sportsmans were J.Frost , who scored a maximum and A.Stainfield who recorded a magnificent maximum 170 break.

This coming Friday the Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be holding their Ladies Super League AGM at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry beginning at 8.00pm. Following the meeting will be the ladies play off for the British Masters competition with an entry fee of £5 per player.

The men’s play off will be held at the same Bishopsgate Club on Thursday 27th June, again the entry fee will be £5 per player.

The British Masters finals will be held at the Magna Centre, Sheffield Road, Rotherham, S60 1DX on Saturday 10th August, players should note that this is the same day as the BDO British Classic.

A total of 32 pairs entered the Forest of Arden Winter League’s men’s doubles competition, the final of which was fought out between Dave Duncan and John Sidwell (Olton Crown) and Paul Roscoe and S.King from Highwood ‘C’. The result was a win for Dave Duncan and John Sidwell.

In the ladies doubles knockout Debbie Derbyshire teamed up with Sue Kingdon to add the doubles title to her already won singles title. Runners up were, Noreen Harris and S.Playford.

There were eleven entries to the Secretaries Shield and the new holder of the title is Brian Twist form Riley’s Red Arrows. Brian defeated Riley’s Flights member Neil Comerford in the final.

In the semi finals of the Consolation Cup Ivy Leaf went down 7-2 to Riley’s Wings, while in the other last four play-off there was a 6-3 win for Highwood ‘A’ against Harvester.

The final was played to a result and saw Highwood ‘A’ race to a straight 5-0 victory, Riley’s Wings settling for the runners up spot.

After completing twelve fixtures in division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, Merry Boys have moved off the foot of the table. Playing at home against next to bottom Bird in Hand, Merry Boys chalked up their third win of the season a 5-2 success that lifted them above their opponents in the table joining Golden Lion on six points, Bird in Hand have now played one game more than both of the two teams above them and trail them by two points. Wednesfield Legion ‘A’ suffered a surprising 4-3 home defeat by lowly placed Railway and as a result have dropped two places in the table to eighth.

In division two Electric, after conceding three defeats got back to winning ways beating Riley’s ‘B’ 6-1 to continue to head the table, but only on average from Bull and Riley’s ‘A’, who in turn beat Harrowby 4-3 and Yale Club 6-1. Village ‘B’ had a set back to their title hopes and drop from second to fourth after losing 4-3 away to next to bottom King Charles, who prior to the fixture had only won two games.

Just two points separate the top four teams in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League. Wednesfield FC, after a 5-2 win at Bushbury Arms ‘B’, remain in pole, with Riley’s ‘A’, who won 4-3 against fifth in the table Moreton, are on the same 26 points as the leaders. Then come Riley’s ‘B’ and Whitmore Reans WMC,both on 24 points and in turn winning 6-1 against Otter and Vixen ‘B’ and 7-0 against Stile.

At the other end of the table Bushbury WMC, who are three places off the bottom took on fourth from bottom Wrottesley, Bushbury won the tie 4-3, the result seeing the two teams change places in the table.

Sam Whittaker was in top scoring form for his team Dosthill Club in the Pip Club League, hitting two maximums in his side’s 12-4 win away to Travellers. M.Walton (Two Gates Club) was another man to find the three treble twenties, unfortunately his team lost 11-5 at Pip Club.

The Nomads have been ousted from the number one spot in division one of the Sutton and District Summer League after losing 5-4 away to Old Oscott WMC, who as a result have moved off the foot of the table. Sutton Sports take over the top spot with a 7-2 win over The Fox and are now, after just three fixtures the only undefeated team in division one.

Three teams are on a maximum six points in the second division, Golden Hind, Heartlands and Drakes Drum, while in division three a 6-3 win at Cross Keys Arrows put’s Boldemere Sports and Social in the number one spot, with The Beehive, who beat Sportsmans Rest 7-2 are level on points with the leaders and trail by just one leg of average. C.Packer (Boldmere Sports and Social) hit the league’s only maximum of the night.
