Warwickshire County Darts Organisation began 2013 in style by recording their first win of the season in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships. After three consecutive defeats a home game against Devon saw them win 20-16, after most of the fixtures had been cancelled due to the snow.
It was good news for the men’s teams as the ‘A’ won 7-5, Nigel Heydon their top man with a 29.04 average and the ‘B’ won 8-4, Robert Hawker (28.50) their man of the match. However, not such good news for the ladies as the ‘A’ lost 4-2, with Trina Gulliver showing some of her old form with a 28.51 average and the ‘B’ side finishing all square, Marian Conway taking the award with a 17.09 average.

Full marks to the West Midlands, who in the adverse weather conditions made the long trek to the south west to take on Cornwall in their division one fixture. Unfortunately they were not rewarded for their endeavour and went down 23-13, their hosts taking over pole position in the division one promotional table.
Saturday saw the ladies draw 3-3, Gemma Barrett (13.79) lady of the match and the men’s team lose by a massive 10-2, Viv Gould (22.41) their top man. Sunday’s results were reversed with the men making a 6-6 draw and the ladies losing 4-2. Top players for the ‘A’ matches were Ian Jones (29.18) and Sarah Thornbury (23.12).

Crown at Olton, third in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League added an important scalp to their tally when the beat Crown at Shard End, who are second in the table, 5-4. Both teams remain in the same positions but are now on 16 points each, Old Bill and Bull are also on the same number of points. Leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners had a bye this week and stay four points ahead of the field.
There was a similar occurrence in division one where third placed Langley Hall Sports and Social beat second in the table Banbury Club 5-4, again the two teams not moving in the table and again both of them having 16 points as do Yardley Arms. Shirley RBL Flights who head the division beat Forget-Me-Not 5-4 to remain six points to the good.
In division two there was a rare win for bottom of the table Ivy Leaf, who won 5-4 against the team two places above them, Riley’s Wings.

Round one of the League Cup was the order of the day for the Camp Hill League and winning through to the next round were, Devils Club, Crown Arrows, Scruffy Ringer’s and Midland Darts Centre.

Fox Flights still lead division one of the Four Oaks and District League with a 7-2 win away to Old Oscott WMC. However, Sutton Sports are on the same 16 points and have reduced the average deficit with a 9-0 win against Anvil Nomads. Old Oscott Arrows and Red Lion Flights are both two points behind the leading pair.
In division two P.Wilkes (Pint Pot Arrows) turned on a dazzling performance with scores of 101b,120b,3×100,105,125 and 138 but even that was not enough for his team to avoid a 6-3 home defeat at the hands of the Deer’s Leap Stags outfit.
The Beehive keep top spot in division three, a 6-3 win over Bromford Club keeping them four points ahead of Brookvale and Plough and Barrows, who in turn won 6-3 against The Heartlands and 7-2 at Highcroft Dragons.

In the recent knockouts in the Aston League, A.Stainfield (Sportsmans Rest) won the singles event with D.Bond (Red Lion) runner up. The doubles title went to L.Barberan and M.McFall (Riley’s) after beating fellow team mates R.Liggins and M.Archer in the final.
On the league front only three results, Sportsmans Rest won 6-3 away to Old Oscott WMC and jumped up the table from third to top on 12 points, the same points as Red Lion and Riley’s but with the better average.
Aston Hotel got off the foot of the table, winning 5-4 against Aston Flights to move above. In the other mid table game Heartlands beat Safe Harbour 6-3.

In week two of the Small Heath League’s new season Cobs Bar have taken over in pole position after a 6-3 win at Custard House. Only three other teams in the league are unbeaten, Redhill Wanderers and Sheldon Marlborough Flights, who have each only played one game and Midland Darts Centre, who has yet have not played any games.

Riley’s Kings suffered their first loss in seven games in division one of the South Birmingham League this week, a surprisingly high 7-2 result away to second in the table Crown at Shard End. The “Kings” still top the table on12 points, Crown are two points behind them. Mackadown Social, a further two points adrift have two games in hand on the leading duo, wins could see them take over the number one spot.
In the second division Pavilions maintained their two points lead over Banbury Flights with a 5-4 win away to lowly Kingfisher. Banbury Flights lost ground as a result of their 7-2 reversal at third placed Centurion.

Just two games were played in the Forest of Arden Winter League’s preliminary round of their Divisional Cup. In division one Riley’s Red Arrows beat Olton Crown 5-4 and by the same scoreline, in division two Riley’s Wings accounted for Sheldon Flights.

The Andrew Evans Memorial Cup was on the Tamworth League’s fixture card, the semi finals saw league leaders Three Horse Shoes win 4-1 against Sports Bar ‘180’ and Boot Inn beat Anchor Inn 4-2.
With the top two teams in the league facing each other in the final a close game was expected, that was not to be as Three Horse Shoes ran out 4-0 winners.
The night raised £40, which will go to the British Heart Foundation.

It’s as you were at the top of the Pip League’s overall table, Belgrave Club winning 12-4 at Travellers, giving them 19 points two more than J.W.Belgrave, who have taken over second place with a similar 12-4 win at home to Royal Oak. Dosthill Club, who were second had a bye, they and J.W. have game in hand on the leaders.
