The Sheldon and District League rounded off their winter season with a flurry of cup finals, in the M & B Round Robin Cup Yardley Arms lifted the silverware with a 6-3 win over Ivy Leaf Flights followed by a massive 8-1 win against Iron Horse, who in their previous game had beaten Ivy Leaf Flights by the same scoreline.

Riley’s were the victors in the Punch Bowl, a 6-3 semi final win over EBAHA lined up a final against Saltley Amateur Gardeners, who had a close 5-4 verdict over Old Bill and Bull in the last four play off. The final score was another 5-4 result with Riley’s getting the upper hand.

Forget-Me-Not won the Sheldon Shield final, a 7-2 victory over Shirley RBL Misfits giving them the title.

Ridgemere’s Peter Yardley became the new winner of the Presidents Trophy having a clean sweep of four wins in his four games. Yardley kicked off with a 2-1 win over Tom White (Saltley Amateur Gardeners) and with a similar score beat another Saltley player Tony Randell. In his penultimate match against Clarke Horsley (George V) 2-1 was yet again the scoreline, but he rounded off his games with a clear 3-0 victory over New Firs Flights man Martin Yates.

Tom White was runners up with 6 points, two behind Yardley, Tony Randell had 4 points, Clarke Horsley 2 and Martin Yates 0.

The Jubilee Trophy title went to Clark Horsley (George V) with Ridgemere’s Dave Carter the runner up. Losing semi finalists were Sean O’Donnell, who lost to Carter and Will Griffiths.

Riley’s, Castle Vale consolidated their number one position in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League by handing out an 8-0 whitewash in their home tie with Iron Horse to put them on four points, one ahead of second placed Highwood Arrows who won their home game with Crown at Olton 5-3.

Sheldon Dukes moved off the foot of the table with a 5-3 win at Riley’s Arrows, who have replaced the in the bottom spot.

New Firs Flights made it two wins in a row when they won 6-2 at home to Old Bill and Bull and now lead group two with a maximum four points. Custard House ‘B’ have taken over the number two spot after beating former second placed team Pavilions 7-1, Pavilions drop to fourth.

A 7-1 win at Forget-Me-Not as seen Highwood Flights leap from bottom to third in the table, the hosts taking over at the bottom of the table.

Just average separates Shirley RBL Flights and George V ‘A’ in group three, the former winning 5-3 at EBAHA and the latter winning by the same margin as hosts to Ridgemere Flights.

Scanlons have a one point advantage at the top of group four over Langley Hall Sports and Social, while in group five Centurion and Highwood KB’s are neck and neck on 3 points, and in group six five of the six teams, Ridgemere Arrows, George V ‘B’, Ivy Leaf ‘B’, Greville Arms and Meadway Sports and Social are all on 2 points, only Ivy Leaf Flights are without a point so far.

Only two fixtures played in division one of the Sutton and District League and both finished with 7-2 results for the away teams. Divisional leaders Sutton Sports won at The Leopard and second placed Anvil Nomads beat Old Oscott Arrows. Sutton Sports have a maximum six points from their three games played the only other teams unbeaten so far are Fox Flights and Sutton Park Hotel, both teams having played just one fixture.

In the second division top team Old Oscott WMC had a 7-2 away win over Erdington Arrows to give them a perfect six points, while Red Lion Flights, who also have six points have played one more game than the leaders and despite losing 5-4 at home to Pint Pot Nomads hold on to second place on average from Pint Pot Nomads, who now have a game in hand on them and are level on the same six points.

In division three Heartlands had a 7-1 win at Bromford Club to place them in pole position with 6 points from four games. Deer’s Leap Stags won their home game with Plough and Barrows 6-3 giving them also 6 points, but from three games. Drakes Drum, in third place have only played two games and with four points have games in hand on the two teams above them.

The Forest of Arden League got their summer league started and the two games played in division one both ended with 6-1 wins for Crown Arrows and Riley’s Flights, who in turn defeated Chelmsley Arrows and Harvester.

Highwood are clear leaders I division two after a 6-1 home win over Ivy Leaf. Sheldon Flights beat Riley’s Wings 5-2 to go second and Highwood KB third after a 4-3 win at Greville Arms.

The Divisional Cup semi finals were on the fixture card for the Pip Club League, in division one there were wins over Belgrave Club and Red Lion for respective opponents Bulls Head (Polesworth) and Progressive Club.

The division two final will be contested between Travellers and Old Liberal Club who in turn defeated Sports Bar ‘180’ and Royal Oak (Polesworth).

There is no change whatsoever in the Camp Hill League table as the six top half teams took on opponents from the bottom half and they all won. The top six teams are now Ladyboys (12 points), Forgers (10), Custard House (10), Scruffy Ringers (8), Waggoners (8) and Langley Lads (8).

Third placed Custard House have a game in hand on the two teams above them and a win in that game would see them go top of the table.
