The Sutton and District Summer League have got their season underway and getting off to a good start in division one were Fox Flights, who had a convincing 8-1 win away to Old Oscott Arrows, M.Archer helping Fox on their way with a maximum plus 2×140 and 2×100.

In division two the biggest winners were Erdington Arrows and Red Lion, each of them winning 6-3. Erdington Arrows played away to Pint Pot while Red Lion travelled to White Lion.

Heartlands and Drakes Drum are the early pacesetters in division three, a 7-2 win at Pint Pot Arrows putting Heartlands level with Drakes Drum, who won at home to Plough and Barrows.

A couple of league friendly games saw Anvil Nomads beat Deer’s Leap Stags and Sutton Sports win by the same margin against Pint Pot Nomads.

Only two results from the Camp Hill League, which saw Langley Lads beat their local rivals Langley Ladies 6-1 to take them to number one in the table with six points. The other fixture played saw Redhill Tavern win their first of the season a 5-2 home win over Crown Arrows.

Only two of the twelve teams making up the league are able to boast a 100% win record, Ladyboys, who have played three games and Custard House, who have played two. Sportsman Champs are the sole team without a win so far.

Congratulations to Leamington, who with a total of 163 points have won the Warwickshire Men’s Super League. Coventry Bishopsgate finished the season as runners up four points adrift of the champions. Rugby took third place a further seven points behind Rugby with 152 points.

Three players recorded the top average of the season 34.16 and they were Mark McGeeney, Prakash Jiwa and Nigel Heydon. The highest finish of 160 was achieved by Barry Sheasby, while five players, Mark McGeeney, Prakash Jiwa, Nigel Heydon, Noel Grant and Lee Harris all registered the least darts of eleven.

Winners of the Forest of Arden Winter League’s mixed doubles were Lesley Llewellyn and John Bown, while the Secretary’s Shield title went to Andy Hawkins, in the final of the division two cup Crown Arrows defeated Greville Arrows 5-4 to lift the silverware.

Local rivals Custard House Flights and Custard House met each other in the latest round of fixtures in the Small Heath League the latter opening up a 3-0 and although they were pegged back to 3-2 went on to win 6-3. Mitre lost the top spot after surprisingly losing their home tie with fourth placed Midland Darts Centre 5-4. Taking over at number one is Scanlons, who won 5-4 away to Emerald Club and are now on 30 points, two more than Mitre, who have the better average, with only one game to the end of the season the title will go to the wire.

Cobs Bar’s winning run of two games came to an end when they lost 5-4 away to bottom of the table Sheldon Marlborough Flights, nevertheless Cobs Bar remain top of the shadow league four points ahead of the rest of the field.

Red Lion, leaders of division one in the Pip Club League suffered a setback to the title hopes this week when they lost their home match with Belgrave Club 9-7, Belgrave Club lying next to bottom of the table. J.W.Belgrave Club are the bottom team and they also produced something of a shock result as in their home game with third placed Progressive Club they finished all square at 8-8.

Red Lion hold on to the top place with 15 points, but now only on average from Bulls Head (Polesworth).

In division two Sports Bar 180 have gone clear by one point at the top of the division after a 9-7 win at Royal Oak and second placed Pip Club dropping points as they could only draw 8-8 at home to Old Liberal Club, who are bottom of the table.

Three Horse Shoes are having a great season in the Tamworth Sports Bar League, their latest 6-1 win at Sports Bar 180 taking their unbeaten run to eighteen games. Sports Bar 180 are now joint second having been joined on 112 points by Rugby Club who won 6-1 as hosts to Dolphin Inn.

In the players league the fixtures brought together the two top players, Trevor Barrs (Sports Bar 180) and Mark Tomlinson (Three Horse Shoes). The result was a win for Barrs to give him 48 points from 19 games, Tomlinson on 42 points and has a game in hand.

A final reminder that this coming Saturday 19th May the Mile Oak Rovers F.C, Tamworth are hosting a “Legends” night, when two of darts most famous players, Eric Bristow and John Lowe will play 14 members of the audience before facing each other in a “Legends Of The Oche” play off.
