With division three having completed their fixtures in the Four Oaks and District League, this week was the final games of the season for division’s one and two. In division one, with Sutton Sports already acclaimed champions, Deer’s Leap played away to Sportsmans Rest requiring a win to confirm them as runners up. The result was a close 5-4 to Deer’s Leap. Plough and Arrows had an 8-1 win over The Fox Inn, but despite the big win and ending on the same points as Deer’s Leap they finished third in the table with a slightly inferior average.

Old Oscott Arrows finished the season in style handing out a 9-0 whitewash at home to Pint Pot Flights and rounding off the first division results Anvil Nomads won 5-4 away to Boldmere Sports.

In the second division the title had already been decided with Red Lion Flights champions on 24 points and Pint Pot Nomads second with 20 points, so the final results for the two teams were immaterial. Fortunately that was so as both lost, Red Lion Flights went down 5-2 away to The Leopard, who ended up bottom but two of the table and Pint Pot Nomads lost their home tie with Old Oscott WMC 5-4.

The quarter finals of the Sheldon Shield were on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter league, three of the four games finishing with close 54 results. Shirley RBL Misfits, from division three had a fine 5-4 win at division two’s Scanlons. There were no surprises for two other division two teams, Glebe Community Association and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners as they lost out 5-4 to division one opponents Forget-Me-Not and Pavilions.

In the all division two clash between Sheldon Social and Willclare Sports and Social it was the former who got the 7-2 verdict.

A couple of rearranged league fixtures were also played this week, New Firs Flights completed their fixtures with a 5-4 away win at Holy Souls to give them a total points of 20 from 14 games. Second in the table Pavilions have played 13 games and have 18 points, they now require a 9-0 victory in their remaining game to win the divisional title.

The other fixture played was in division three, where Langley Hall Sports and Social played hosts to Centurion, which resulted in a 5-4 win for the home team.

The Small Heath League played off their doubles competition and taking the honours were Emerald Club representatives Neil Parsonage and Raymond Fisher. Parsonage and Fisher defeated Peter Yardley and Peter Hopkins, also from Emerald Club in the final.

Going out in the last four were, Anthony Daley / Tony Daley (Scanlons) and Mark Kane / Brendan Lysaght (mitre). Losing quarter finalists were, Nick Walker / Dave Highway (Scanlons), Joseph Fox / Liam Fox (Emerald Club), Ian Rondeau / Keith Rondeau (Sheldon Marlborough Flights) and Mick Tilley / Matthew Cooper (Scanlons).

The final of the Forest of Arden Winter League’s Presidents Cup will be contested by Riley’s Red Arrows and local rivals Riley’s Flights. Arrows made their way to the final with a 6-3 win over Harvester, while Flights had a comprehensive 9-0 victory over Sheldon Flights to book their final spot.

Bulls Head (Polesworth) have lost pole position in division one of the Pip Club League after losing 10-6 away to the Dolphin. Taking over the number one position is Red Lion, who in their away game with bottom of the table Birchmoor Club, won by the same 10-6 margin.

In the other division one game played third placed Progressive Club won their home tie with Belgrave Club 11-5, despite a maximum from Belgrave’s Glen Alexandra.

In division two, Pip Club, with a 180 from Spencer Hawksworth, consolidated their top position with a 10-6 away win against Travellers, who as a result have dropped one place in the table from second to third. Sports Bar “180” take over the second place following their 12-4 win away to bottom placed Old Liberal Club, putting them on 13 points, just one behind Sports Bar “180” and two adrift of leaders Pip Club.

Just one game played in the Camp Hill League, a rearranged final game of the season between Sportsman and Lady Westminster. Sportsman, with 24 points had already won the title and Lady Westminster had booked their fourth place and could not move any higher whatever the outcome of the game. So both teams were playing for pride only and the team to come out on top were Lady Westminster with a 4-3 win.

The Mile Oak Rovers F.C. are hosting a “Legends” night on Saturday 19th May, when two of darts most famous players, Eric Bristow and John Lowe will play 14 members of the audience before facing each other in a “Legends Of The Oche” play off.
