Round two of the Mrs F Richman Trophy was on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Summer League and the results showed just one upset of the round, that being the 5-2 win by Scanlons. Bottom of group three, Scanlons travelled to take on Bagot Arms, who were placed mid table in group two, but even home advantage was not enough to avoid defeat.

The top two teams in group three played each other, leaders New Firs Flights playing away to second in the table Highwood Flights. The result was a clear cur 5-2 victory for New Firs.

Other winners from the round were Old Bill and Bull, Iron Horse, Mackadown Social, Castle Vale Residents Association, Bromford Bridge Exiles and Riley’s Arrows.

There was just one league game played, a rearranged fixture from group four, which saw Ridgemere Social win 6-2 away to Sheldon Social.

The Camp Hill League have staged their doubles knockout and taking the title were J.Isaacs and D.Heath, who had a final win over J.Carter and D.Tudor. Losing semi finalists were D.Salerno / B.Glover and P.Freeman / S.Ironmonger.

On the league front with top team Langley Hall having their tie with Scruffy Murphy’s cancelled second place Lady Westminster drew level on 24 points with Langley following their decisive 6-1 win away to bottom of the table Langley Hall Ladies. Langley Hall and Lady Westminster now have the same points and average, but Langley have played two games fewer.

Mitre continue to impress in the Small Heath League, their latest 6-2 home win over Wagon and Horses extending their unbeaten run to eight games and maintaining their three points lead in the table over their nearest rivals Custard House. However, Mitre suffered an early shock when they found themselves 2-0 down, but fought back to seal their win. Custard House had a 7-1 win at Devils, but despite the huge scoreline five of the eight games went to a deciding leg and the Devils had their chances of winning them.

In division one of the Pip Club League, two maximums from A.Coll helped leaders, Birchmoor Club to an 11-5 home in over J.W.Belgrave Club to take them to 20 points from 11 games. D.Chapman hit a consolation 180 for Two Gates Club. Red Lion, after a massive 15-1 home success against bottom team Two Gates Club are just two points adrift of Birchmoor with a game in hand.

It’s tight in the second division, which has turned into a two horse race between Bulls Head, Polesworth and Bolehall Swifts, who are locked together on 23 points. Bulls Head are in pole position, a 14-2 win away over Old Liberal Club just giving them the edge on Bolehall who won 10-6 at the Pip Club. Sam Whittaker (Bolehall) and Paul Richards (North Warwick Cricket Club) both hit a 180.

In the first division of the Forest of Arden Summer League, Riley’s Red Arrows hold on to their number spot with a 5-2 win at Sheldon Flights, but only Justas local rivals Riley’s Flights won 4-3 at Old Bill and Bull and are on the same 10 points as Arrows, trailing slightly on average only.
