After the first round of fixtures in the Sheldon and District Summer League, Bromford Bridge Exiles were in pole position and Iron Horse their nearest rivals in group one. In the second of the league’s fixtures the two teams met on the Iron Horse board, but it was Bromford who got the convincing 6-2 result to maintain their number one position. Iron Horse, as a result of their defeat have dropped to fourth in the table. Taking over the second place are Olton RBL, who won their home tie with Highwood Arrows 5-3 and are the only team besides Bromford to have won both games.
In group two three teams are undefeated, Bagot Arms, Kingshurst and District Labour Club and Sheldon Dukes, while in group three a 5-3 home win over Pavilions leaves New Firs Flights the only team with maximum points.
The only other teams to boast a 100% win record in only the second week of the season are, Ridgemere Social and Shirley RBL Flights (group four) but they have only played one fixture, Maggies (group five) and New Firs (group seven).

Although the Sheldon Summer League has only just got underway, already there is a request for new teams to join the winter league, which will commence in mid September. The Forest of Arden Summer League has got underway this week and the biggest winners in the curtain raiser were division two outfit Sheldon Arrows, who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their opponents Highwood. In division one there were two teams, Riley’s Red Arrows and Greville who won 6-1 against respective opponents Sheldon Flights and Kenny’s Boys.

The first round of their Divisional Cup’s were on the agenda for the Pip Club League and in division one the winners were, J.W.Belgrave Club, Sports Bar 180, Birchmoor Club and Red Lion, who in turn accounted for Dolphin, Two Gates Club, Belgrave Club and Sports Bar.
In the second division North Warwick Cricket Club, Bulls Head (Polesworth), Old Liberal Club and Queens Head made the semi finals. In the last four Bulls Head (Polesworth) beat North Warwick Cricket Club and Queens Head won against Old Liberal Club.

The first week of the Gulp League’s new season produced some big results. Tigers and Tribe both handed out whitewashes in turn to Rebels and Ridgemere. Monkeys were not far behind as they won 6-1 in their away game against the Lions.

Emerald Club lost the number one spot in the Small Heath League this week as they lost 5-3 away to third in the table Custard House. Taking over at the top of the table are Mitre, who won their home fixture with Custard House Flights 5-3. Mitre are now on the same eight points as second placed Emerald Club, but with not only a better average, but also the advantage of a game in hand.
For the second week running bottom of the table Devils suffered a heavy defeat, this week a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of the Redhill Tavern team.
