Warwickshire hold on to their Premier Division status, but only just!! Playing at home at the Foleshill Club, Coventry, they entertained Kent in a game that they knew was vital to their survival in the top flight.
Saturday’s games saw Warwickshire trailing 10-8 after the ladies lost 5-1 and the men won 7-5, the respective match awards going to Wendy Adams (17.06) and Martin Bowley (29.47).
Sunday was a complete turn around of the previous day with the hosts gaining a 10-8 win to give an overall 18-18 draw. For the ladies Trina Gulliver (23.86) registered her eighth match award of the season out of nine games and in the men’s 8-4 victory Bob Nixon was their top player with a 29.36 average.
Warwickshire finished the campaign with 144 point’s, level with second from bottom Cornwall, but with the better average and seven more than Surrey who ended the season at the foot of the table.
In division one West Midlands lost their away game against Derbyshire 22-14, their sixth defeat in nine games, but with 158 points finished fourth from bottom and safe for another season.
Both men’s sides lost 7-5 with Ian Jones chalking up a fantastic 31.98 average for the ‘A’ team and Greg Parkes taking the ‘B’ award with a 25.47 average. Claire Hobbs (12.76) was the sole winner for the ladies ‘A’, while the ‘B’ team finished all square at 3-3 with Tammy Chance the best on the day with a 17.69 average.

In the Forest of Arden Winter League division one leaders Riley’s Red Arrows made it eighteen straight wins when in their latest fixture they travelled to Harvester and won 7-2. Red Arrows are on a perfect 36 points, eight more than second placed Old Bill and Bull, who have one result outstanding.
In the second division leaders Sheldon Flights won their home tie with Kenny’s Boys 7-2 and are two points ahead of their nearest rivals Greville Arrows with two games in hand.

The Camp Hill League produced a top of the table clash this week with leaders Lady Westminster playing away to second in the table Clements Arms. The result was a close 4-3 verdict in favour of Lady Westminster making it five wins in as many games and giving them a four point’s breathing space over their rivals.
In the other game played the Roost beat Devils Club 5-2.

The Warwickshire Ladies Super League season has drawn to a close and scooping the title without losing a game was the Coventry Pilot team. The Pilot’s Tracey Edgecombe had the most ton plus scores in the league, hitting 65 in total and also achieving a 15 dart leg, Dawn Barbier of Greenlands and Nicki Thompson of Cubbington ‘A’ also had 15 dart legs. The most Lady of the Match Awards was won by J.Densley of Nuneaton, winning a total of 10 throughout the season. The highest checkout of 160 was shared between Ann Rodgers of Kenilworth and Linda Farrell of Nuneaton Town, also shared was the number of 180’s hit between J.Densley of Nuneaton, L.Taft of Nuneaton Town, T.Zwalt and Karen Cox of Cubbington ‘B’ and for Cubbington ‘A’ Kim Morris, Angela Jones and Melanie Hill.

Only a handful of games remain in the Tamworth Sports Bar League and Three Horse Shoes, with a further 6-1 win over Wigginton are way out in front with 135 points, the nearest team to the ‘Shoes’ are Sports Bar 180 who are a massive 26 points adrift.
In the players league Paul Whittaker (Three Horse Shoes) is also in a very comfortable position, six ponts ahead of Mac Tarbuck (Riftswood), Paul and his team look all set to claim both titles.
