Division one provided this week’s surprising results in the Sheldon and District Winter League as leaders Highwood ‘A’ travelled to take on fourth placed Holy Souls and lost 5-4. Third in the division Bagot Arms went down by the same scoreline in their home tie with Castle Vale Residents Association, who are fifth in the table. Second placed Iron Horse handed out a 9-0 whitewash to bottom of the division Meadway Sports and Social.

Shirley RBL moved off the foot of the table in division three after a fine 5-4 win against fifth placed Farthings.

In the premier division all of the top four teams recorded wins.

Cup games have been the order of the day for the Four Oaks and District League, first the final of the Richard Winslow Pairs Competition, which is sponsored by Central Container Services. Boldmere Sports duo P.Newman and A.Jarvie, with a 3-0 result beat the Sportsmans Rest pairing of T.Kelly and T.Pedley.

In the final of the Coronation Shield The Fox and Dogs turned a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 victory over Sportsmans Rest. The Norman Day Cup final saw second division champions Pint Pot Flights race into a winning 8-1 lead against third placed Oscott Social Clarets.

In the third division Challenge Cup semi finals The Red Arrows won the last leg of the final game to clinch a 5-4 win over Brookvale, and Sutton Town secured their final place with a similar 5-4 win, beating Pint Pot Arrows in the penultimate game.

There were three games played in the Small Heath League, all three finishing with a 6-3 result. Leaders Custard House won at home against Hay Mills Social, second placed The Mitre won away to Wagon and Horses and in the bottom half tussle between The Devils and Custard House Flights it was the latter who got the verdict.

With one game remaining it’s a case of winner takes all as leaders Custard House take on second place The Mitre, the winner will become champions.

Three Horse Shoes with a 7-0 win at home to Globe ‘B’ consolidated their number one spot in the Tamworth Sports Bar League and increased their lead as their nearest rivals Sports Bar 180 lost their home game against Hustlers by 5-4.

In the players league Paul Whittaker Three Horse Shoes), after a further win over Geggy Wright (Globe ‘B’) has a six point’s lead in pole position over second placed Mac Tarbuck (Riftswood).

In division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League leaders Riley’s Red Arrows all but confirmed themselves as champions when they won 5-4 away to second in the table Old Bill and Bull to give them a six points lead. Riley’s Flights have joined Old Bill and Bull on 26 points following their 6-3 home win against bottom team Chelmsley Town.

In division two the second and third teams faced each other Riley’s Mixed winning 6-3 at Kenny’s Boys to lift them above their opponents on average only as they both have 12 points.

Lady Westminster extended their unbeaten run to three games in the Camp Hill League when they won 6-1 at the Roost, but second placed Clements Arms went one better when they won 7-0 away to Scruffy Murphy’s but remain two points adrift of the leaders.

Dolphin are the early division one leaders in the Pip Club League, their latest result a 10-6 win as hosts to Two Gates Club, while in the second division Bolehall Swifts and Bulls Head (Polesworth) remain undefeated, Bolehall beating Queens Head 13-3 and Bulls Head winning 11-5 at Pip Club, Bolehall top the table with a slightly superior average.
