A trip to South Wales to take on Glamorgan was the latest task for Warwickshire in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships, and they returned with what could be a valuable 18-18 draw. There were mixed fortunes for the teams in Saturday’s games as the ladies suffered a 4-2 defeat with Linda Farrell (16.17) their top player and the men recorded their second successive victory a 7-5 win with Mark Westgarth (27.83) their player of the match.
Sunday’s games finished all square the ladies 3-3 and the men 6-6, Trina Gulliver (26.37) and Steve Hine (30.81) taking the respective match awards.
In division one West Midlands played hosts to London and had a narrow 19-17 defeat, which ahs seen them drop to fifth in the table, but still only six points behind second placed Hampshire. The only winners of the weekend were the men’s ‘B’ who had an 8-4 success with their top man Ian Hartland (30.20). The ‘A’ side went down 7-5, another Ian, this time Jones taking the award with a 30.96 average.
For the ladies Sarah Robbins(16.48) was the sole winner in a 5-1 reversal for the ‘A’ team, while Claire Hobbs (16.34) took the ‘B’ teams award in a 3-3 draw.

Shock of the week in the Four Oaks and District League was the defeat of Anvil Nomads in division two. Playing at home against White Lion, who are next to bottom of the table, Anvil lost out by 5-4 and have now dropped to third place behind Oscott Social Clarets and are a massive eight points adrift of leaders Pint Pot Flights who returned to winning ways with a 6-3 win at Drakes Drum.
In division one Sutton Sports had a close 5-4 win at Sportsmans Rest, winning the fixture in the final game of the evening. Deer’s Leap came back from 4-2 down at Boldmere Sports to win 5-4, while Old Oscott Arrows lost by the same margin hosting Fox and Dogs. The Fox, four points behind Sutton Sports are now the only team who can mathematically beat them to the title, but that would need Sutton to lose their games.
Third division’s Sutton Town FC and Oscott Social Reds both won 6-3, the former now joining Brookvale on 16 points, four fewer than leaders The Red Arrows.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners, reigning premier division champions in the Sheldon and District Winter League won a vital game against Old Bill and Bull 5-4. The teams were in turn second and third in the table the win has put Saltley within four points of leaders Olton RBL, who 504 at home to Pavilions, but Saltley have played one game more then the leaders.
The top two teams in division one did battle this week, Bagot Arms playing hosts to top team Highwood ‘A’. The result was a tremendous 7-2 win for the home team to reduce the gap between the two teams to just three points.
ThisisDarts, fourth in division two caused an upset this week beating former leaders Forget-Me-Not 6-3. Forget-Me-Not have now dropped to third in the table with Shard End Social, who have a game in hand and are level on points with new leaders New Firs Flights move up from third to second after winning 6-3 at Glebe Community Association. New Firs Flights won 7-2 away to Sheldon Social.
Ridgemere Social and Maggies have swapped places in division three following Ridgemere’s 5-4 home win over their opponents, Ridgemere are now top with Maggies second.

Only two games played in the Small Heath League with both finishing with 6-3 results, there were wins for Emerald Club and Wagon and Horses , who in turn defeated Custard House Flights and Devils. Emerald Club now go level on points with leaders Custard House, but have played two games more.

The League Cup finals was on the Camp Hill League’s fixture list and taking the title with a final 6-1 success over Clements Arms was Lady Westminster, who on the night were the sharper on finishing doubles.

One rearranged fixture played in division two of the Pip Club League in which leaders Sports Bar 180 lost at home by 11-5 to third placed Bull. Sports Bar hold on to the number one spot and the title, but they won it with a massive superior average.
