Bob Nixon has extended his lead at the top of the Carlsberg Olton Double Top League to five points. This week he added a further two straight 3-0 wins over John Sidwell and Paul Cornes to his tally to give him 37 points form 13 games. Andy Hutchings is now in second place after his 2-1 win over Ian Spencer followed by a 3-0 success against Chris John. Tony Randell is in third place on 30 from 11 games, giving him two games in hand on Nixon, maximum wins in those games would take him to within just one point of the leader.

The Small Heath Winter League staged their presentation at the Emerald Club at the end of June and on the evening played off their Blind Doubles Knockout. The successful duo on the night was Neil Parsonage and Dave Brown who in the final accounted for Edward Martin and Paul Brown.

The Gulp League had the semi finals of their L R Waytt Cup on the fixture list. In the game at the Victoria Club Tigers defeated Who’s, while at the Ravenscroft Club Tribe beat Lions. On a personal note a couple of Tiger’s players were in top form, Colin Wyatt scoring 180,2×140,4×100 and Martin Cooper 180,121,111,2×100.

The Belgrave Club and the Pip Club respectively staged the top half and bottom half of the Pip Club League’s Open Cup. At the Belgrave winning through to the final were J W Belgrave Club and Bull (Polesworth) and winning at the Pip Club were Pip Club and Red Lion.

A final reminder that entries are now being accepted for both the Coventry Open and the Midland Open presented by the Warwickshire Darts Organisation. The Coventry Open will be staged at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry on Saturday 10th July and carries a guaranteed top prize of £500.

Mick Bagley was on the ball for the St Johns Club in the Tamworth Sports Bar League hitting two maximums in his side’s 4-3 win over the Globe ‘A’ to keep them in second place behind Three Horse Shoes. The Shoes added a 5-2 win over Globe ‘B’ to give them a total point’s of 49 thirteen more than St Johns.
In the players league the top two players, Clyde Hooper and Mac Tarbuck are still inseparable, both having the same average and 15 points.

On Friday 16th July, TD Events are presenting an exhibition evening with former world champion Bob ‘The Limestone Cowboy’ Anderson in the Grand Marquee at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Tickets are only £15 per person or £130 for a table of 10 and includes food platter per table of chicken, scampi and chips plus table drinks service. Preceding the exhibition there is a Twenty20 match with the Bears taking on the Worcestershire Royals.
