The Carlsberg Olton Individual Double Top League has got it’s new season underway and the early pacesetter is joint reigning champion Bob Nixon. Last season Nixon and Tony Randell finished dead level on the same points and average and after two weeks fixtures Nixon, with twelve points has played four and won four without dropping a single leg and Randell, who is currently fourth on eleven points had dropped just one leg in a 2-1 win over Tony Steele.

In the opening two weeks games Nixon has chalked up two thirteen darts legs and Randell one. There were no fewer than ten maximums recorded this week by Andy Hutchings (2), Lee Harris (2), Steve Harding, Paul Nunn, Tony Randell, John Sidwell, Bob Nixon and Jim Norris.

Robbie Earle, with another three wins under his belt, continues to lead the field in the thisisdarts Individual League. A 3-0 win over Blane Homer and two 2-1 wins against Tom Fitzpatrick and Stuart Bliss has seen Earle amass a total of 90 points from 23 games. Second placed Ian McFarlane had a similar record this week beating Jake Smith 3-0 and Darren Whitehouse and Tony Comerford 2-1. McFarlane is just three points behind Earle, but he has only played 20 games. Just one more week before the midway point of the season and then the format for the second half changes from games of 301 to 501.

Top break this week went to Mark O’Donnell, who in his tie with Adam Gallett recorded breaks of 120 and 160, unfortunately for Mark it was not enough to avoid a straight 3-0 defeat.

On the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League was the finals of their Punch Bowl and Sheldon Shield. In the semi finals of the Punch Bowl there were emphatic wins for both Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Olton RBL. Saltley handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Scanlons and not far behind with an 8-1 success Olton accounted for Yardley and District Darts Team.

As to be expected with the two top premier teams playing against each other the final was a very close affair with Saltley just getting the 5-4 edge on Olton to clinch the title.

In the last four play off of the Sheldon Shield Redhill Tavern were clear 7-2 winners against Ridgemere Social but Shannons had a narrow 5-4 verdict against Small Heath Gardeners Flights. In the final Redhill opened up a 5-2 winning lead to lift the silverware.

This coming Sunday the Warwickshire Men’s Super League will be holding their AGM at the Bishopsgate Club Foleshill Road, Coventry starting at 11.00am. Anyone wishing to stand for positions within the league must have a letter of proposal and also a seconder, to be sent to the league secretary no later than seven days prior to the meeting date. In addition any rule changes must also adhere to the same rule above.

All teams, both old and new must be in represented at this meeting or a fixed fine of £10 will be imposed on any non attending teams.

Birchmoor Club made it three wins in a row in division one of the Pip Club League, when they beat Belgrave Club 12-4 this week. They are now two points clear at the top of the table, however, J W Belgrave Club have a game in hand and are only two points behind them.

In the second division Sports Bar 180 are in pole position following their 9-7 win at home to Old Liberal Club, T.Molyneux hitting a maximum for Sports Bar 180.
