Round two of the Punch Bowl and the preliminary round of the Sheldon Shield were the order of the day for the Sheldon and District Winter League. Biggest win of the round in the Punch Bowl was a 9-0 whitewash handed out by Saltley Amateur Gardeners to Forget-Me-Not. Other winners going through to the next round are, Custard House, Olton RBL, Kingshurst Labour Club, Scanlons, Yardley and District Darts Team and Crown ‘A’.

In the Sheldon Shield three of the games finished with close 5-4 results, Pavilions, Golden Acres and Redhill Tavern in turn defeating Maggies, Shirley RBL Misfits and Willclare Sports and Social. Yardley Arms had a more convincing 7-2 win at Crown ‘B’.

It was also cup matches for the Four Oaks and District League. In the second round of the Brian Goodman Cup two of the top division one teams squared up to each other when leaders Sutton Sports played third placed Sportsmans Rest. Sutton raced into a 5-0 lead and went on to win the tie 6-3. Old Oscott Arrows and Oscott Social had impressive 8-1 wins against respective opponents Fox and Dogs and Safe Harbour, while Pint Pot Flights just managed a 5-4 victory over Drakes Drum.

In the second round of the Ken Rust Cup The Fox had a comfortable 7-2 win over White Lion and Boldmere Flights looked all set for an easy win when they opened up a 4-1 lead against Brookvale. However, Brookvale pegged Boldmere back to 4-4 before S.Bow clinched a 5-4 win for Boldmere.

Division two of the Forest of Arden Winter League provided the biggest shocks this week when bottom of the table Old Bill and Bull Flights chalked up their first win of the campaign a 7-2 success at home to third in the table Riley’s Flights. Ivy Leaf, who are next to bottom also had their first win in six, a 6-3 win against Sheldon Flights who are currently second behind Harvester.

Riley’s Red Arrows continue to lead the field in division one after an 8- 1win over Olton RBL whose Bob Nixon broke with 149. Old Bill and Bull keep the pressure on the leaders following their 9-0 win which they were awarded after Golden Acres failed to field a team.

Red Lion ’A’ have been knocked off the number one spot in division one of the Pip Club League after a shock 9-7 home defeat at the hands of the Sports Bar 180 team, who are just two places off the bottom of the table. Glascote Club take over in pole position, a 10-6 win at Sports Bar giving them a total of 27 points, one more than Red Lion ’A’.

North Warwick Cricket Club continue to lead the way in the second division their three points lead over second placed Kettlebrook Club maintained after a 9-7 win at Polesworth Darts Club. Kettlebrook won their home game with Old Liberal Club 13-3.

The Tribe march on in the Gulp League, a 6-1 home win over Who’s keeping their four points lead intact over

Lions also won 6-1 in their away fixture against Clements who remain at the foot of the table.

In the Shadow League Roost hold a four points lead at the top with 10 points, Who’s are second but have played one more game than Roost.

Beaufort Social Club have taken over top spot in the Small Heath League after handing out a 9-0 whitewash to bottom team Redhill Tavern. However, Mitre, who have dropped to second place are only two points behind Beaufort and have two games in hand and wins in these games would see them return to top of the table.

There was a rare win for next to bottom of the table Custard House as they won 6-3 at Wagon and Horses.
