As the Brook Meadow Individual 301 League approaches the halfway stage leading the field with 74 points is Carl Winters. In his latest round of fixtures Carl chalked up three wins, two 3-0 wins over Chris Davis and Simon Davis and a 2-1 success against Wayne Legg. Despite going down 2-1 to third placed Rob Wilson Winters still holds a five point’s advantage over his nearest rival Tony Comerford and also has a game in hand.

Comerford played against Rob Wilson and Adam Thomas and won both games 2-1 to give him a two point’s lead over Wilson.

The Grange Sunday Night 301 Charity League is also nearing the midway point of their season and in pole position is reigning champion Jimmy Norris. Norris has amassed 40 points from his sixteen fixtures and his nearest rival is Matt Cooper who has 34 points with Dave Watkins third a further four points behind, but he has played one game fewer than the leading duo.

Wagon and Horses have taken over the number one spot in the Small Heath League after a 7-2 win at Stechford Social Club. Former leaders Potcheen Still have dropped to third place following their 5-4 away defeat at the hands of the Emerald Club team, Emerald have moved up to second place. All of the top three teams are level on 10 points with only three legs of average separating them.

Stechford Social Club’s Mark Luger hit a maximum despite his team suffering a heavy defeat against Wagon and Horses.

The Gulp League have been engaged in their League Cup this week and going through to the next round are the Who’s, Devils, Britannia and Tribe who in turn defeated Roost, Beasts, Rebels and Pickwick. Also joining the winners in the hat will be Lions, Shaftsmoor, Clements and St Andrews who all had a bye.

League Cup finals were the order of the day for the Sheldon and District Winter League. First the premier division which provided the biggest shock of the finals when fourth in the table Olton RBL beat league champions Saltley Amateur Gardeners 6-3, despite N.Clarke and P.Sinnett hitting maximums for Saltley.

The was an emphatic 8-1 win for division one champions Stechford Social as they in no uncertain terms accounted for Vaughans who finished fifth in the table.

Old Bill and Bulls tremendous season continued as they added the division two League Cup to their 21 unbeaten match season when they won 7-2 against Highwood.

The M & B Cup final was won by Pavilions, a close 5-4 verdict over Small Heath Amateur Gardeners.

Just one league game played and that was in division two, a rearranged fixture between Small Heath Amateur Gardeners and Golden Acres in which the former won 6-3.

Congratulations to Warwickshire player Nigel Heydon who last weekend at the NFD and DS and S (Sawley) Club Ltd, Long Eaton, Nottingham finished as runner up in the very first sportdale.com knockout competition. Nigel lost 5-2 in the final to Derbyshire professional Colin Osborne, but nevertheless collected £400 for his efforts, Osborne received a cool £1,000 as champion.

The competition was well supported with 150 entries.
