League Cup semi finals have been on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League this week. In the premier division Olton RBL had a comfortable 7-2 win against Sheldon Dukes, while league leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners beat Brook Meadow 6-3, with T.Randell hitting a maximum for Saltley.

In the division one game’s Vaughans beat Shard End Social 6-3 and there was a close 5-4 victory for Stechford Social in their tie with Yardley Ex Flights.

Highwood and Old Bill and Bull will meet in the division two final after the former beat Small Heath Amateur Gardeners 7-2 and the latter won 6-3 against Willclare Sports and Social.

Just one league fixture was played, a rearranged division one game which saw Lea Hall Sports and Social win 6-3 at Yardley Ex Colts.

Cup matches were also on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. In the final first round match of the Ken Rust Cup Pint Pot and Aston Social were involved in a nail biting game that went to the deciding leg, Pint Pot just getting the vital edge on a 5-4 verdict, K.Shepherd hit a 180 for the Fox. In the first of the semi finals of the same competition the Fox struggled to find their doubles and paid the cost as they went out 5-4 to Deer’s Leap.

In the semi final of the Norman Day Cup Red Lion Flights narrowly beat division two champions Bromford Lions 8-7.

One rearranged division two fixture was played and saw Plough and Harrow Arrows beat Royal Oak Ruffians 5-4.

Jimmy Norris, reigning champion of the Grange Sunday Night Charity 301 Double Top League has once again taken over the leadership in week six of the new season. Norris played three games this week against Dennis Brindley, Carl Hogshaw and Mikey Harris and won all three of them 3-0, giving him a total points of 25 from ten games. Nearest rival to Norris is Dave Watkins on 24 points, but he has played three more games than Norris.

The first round of the Small Heath League’s cup saw Wagon and Horses beat Small Heath Amateur Gardeners by a crushing 8-1 margin. the other two game were much closer affairs with Potcheen Still and Redhill Tavern in turn beating Emerald Club and Custard House.

On the league front despite having a bye Potcheen Still remain in pole position on 8 points, joining them on the same number of points are Stechford Social Club who won 5-4 at Redhill Tavern. there were 7-2 wins for both Custard House and Wagon and Horses, who beat respective opponents Emerald Club and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners. Emerald Club and Wagon and Horses are locked together on the same six points and level on average, they are joint third in the table, while Custard House, with six points are fifth.
