BDO Inter Counties Championship division one leaders Warwickshire will be travelling to the south west this coming weekend to take on Cornwall at the Mount Charles Social Club, Cliften Road, St Austell in the seventh of nine of their season fixtures. They will be looking to consolidate their new number one position in the promotional table against their hosts who are currently in seventh of ten places.

Just one more week’s knockout’s remain in the Brook Meadow Double Top League and Trevor Frost with 110 points has already been proclaimed champion. Ian McFarlane, who has 95 points is also confirmed as runner up as his nearest rival Jason Evans is a further nine points adrift.

Winners of the latest ’A’ knockout was Carl Winters who had a close 3-2 victory over Mathew Gallett in the final. Ian McFarlane won the ’B’ knockout, a straight 2-0 success against Chris Davis.

Cup matches were on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. First the Brian Goodman Cup. In a quarter final game between Boldmere Sports and Hill Social it was the latter who got the close 5-4 verdict and will now face Oscott Social in the last four, while in the first of the semi’s Sportsmans Rest beat Old Oscott Arrows 6-3.

The first round of the Ken Rust Cup produced a tremendous tussle in which the Fox just managed a 5-4 win over Anvil Nomads whose M.Smith recorded a 152 break, 100 and a 129 game shot. Sutton Sports were also 5-4 winners against Pint Pot Flights. Biggest winners of the round were Deer’s Leap who handed out an 8-1 thrashing to Plough and Harrow Arrows.

In a preliminary round game Aston Social won 5-4 against Cross Keys PPA and will now play Pint Pot to complete the first round.

The most recent winner in the ’A’ knockout of the Coffin Club Knockout League was Neil Parsonage with a 3-2 result over Robbie Earl. The ’B’ knockout was won by Roy Parry 2-1, with Tony Comerford runner up.

Glascote Club’s advantage at the top of division one of the Pip Club League has been reduced to just one point after the best they could do in their away game with Dolphin was draw 4-4. Second in the table Sports Bar Club had a 5-3 win at Belgrave Club.

Division two leaders Queens Head also slipped up as they finished all square in a home tie with North Warwick Cricket Club, fortunately for Queens Head their nearest rivals Bull also had a 4-4 draw against Kettlebrook Club.

Congratulations to Warwickshire ’A’ team player Nigel Heydon, who from a field of 91 players from across the Midlands, with a 6-1 result over Neil Birkin won the Wolverhampton Open.

Heydon with a 99 three darts average beat Dave Pallett 5-0 in the semi’s and then in the final averaged 96, another super performance.
