The latest round of games in division one of the BDO Inter Counties Championship League saw both Warwickshire and West Midlands gain vital wins.
Warwickshire had a home tie against leaders Gwent and the weekend could not have got off to a better start with the men’s ‘B’ winning 10-2 and the ladies 5-1 with Tony Nolan (27.83) and Louise Graham (19.35) taking the respective match awards. Sunday’s encounters were also top draw as the men won 9-3, Steve Hine winning the man of the match award with a tremendous 32.27 average in his 30-1 win over Chris Jones, while yet again it was Trina Gulliver (29.85) who won the ladies top player award in a 3-3 draw to give a fabulous overall win of 27-9 to Warwickshire and take them top of the promotion table with 147 points and pushing Gwent into second place 19 points behind them.
West Midlands started their game two places off the bottom of the table, but a 21-15 win has seen them climb to a respectable fourth position. The ’B’ matches saw the men win 8-4, Richard Foster’s 28.36 average earning the match award, while Liz Arnold (15.93) took the ladies in a 3-3 draw.
In the ’A’ game’s the men shared the points in a 6-6 draw and the ladies recorded a 4-2 win. Stepping up to collect the ’A’ awards were Steve Farmer (29.67) and Leanne Jennings (23.48).

A 7-2 home win by Saltley Amateur Gardeners over Shard End RBL has seen them move into pole position in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. However, second place Mackadown Social whose game with bottom of the table Saxon was postponed are just two points adrift of Saltley with a game in hand and third in the table Shard End RBL are four points adrift with two games in hand, but both teams would have to win their matches in hand 9-0 to just draw level with Saltley.
In division one following their 5-4 defeat at Kingshurst Labour Club, Stechford Social have dropped from second to fourth in the table.

There were two top of the table clashes in the Four Oaks and District League this week with leaders Sutton Sports taking on and beating third in the table Cross Keys PPA 7-1 to maintain their 100% win record. Sutton’s nearest rivals Sportsmans Rest played against fourth placed Hill Social and won 6-3. Anvil Nomads have taken over the third place on average from Cross Keys PPA after their 6-3 win at Deer’s Leap.
Oscott Social continue to press for promotion from division two with a 7-2 win at Royal Oak Ruffians and stay two points ahead of Old Oscott Arrows who had a 5-4 home success against Plough and Harrow Arrows.

After playing 17 games Cherry Tree lead the way in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League with 118 points.
Leamington are just two points off the leaders and have the advantage of a game in hand, which should see them go top.

The position at the top of the Coffin Club Knockout League remains the same with Trevor Frost leading the way on 108 points and Neil Parsonage second with 90 points. In the latest round of knockouts the ‘A’ knockout was won 3-1 by Trevor Frost over Jason Evans. The ‘B’ was a 2-1 result in favour of Chris Davis with Jimmy Green runner up.

Sports Bar Club have been knocked off the number one spot in division one of the Pip Club League after going down 6-2 at home to Wiggy 180. Taking over at the top are Glascote Club who had 1 5-3 home win over Winning Post.
A massive 7-1 win against Gate Inn (Amington) keeps Queens Head top of division two and five points ahead of Two Gates Club who beat Kettlebrook Club 5-3.

The opening games of the new season in the Small Heath League saw 6-3 wins for Emerald Club and Wagon and Horses who beat in turn Potcheen Still and Stechford Social Club. Hitting maximums were J.McCaffery (Potcheen Still) and Neil Parsonage (Emerald Club).
