This coming weekend is county weekend again and Warwickshire will be looking to extend their fine start in division one of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships to three wins when they make the short journey to take on local rivals Staffordshire. Currently second and only two points behind leaders Gwent, Warwickshire are five points ahead of fourth placed Staffordshire a win would obviously open a little breathing space between the two teams and could also improve on the three points gap Warwickshire hold on third in the table Derbyshire.

The Four Oaks and District League had preliminary cup fixtures on their agenda. First the Brian Goodman Singles which saw Old Oscott WMC record an excellent 6-3 win over a very strong Boot Flights side. There were similar 6-3 wins for Boldmere Sports and Old Oscott Arrows, who in turn defeated Plough and Harrow Arrows and Cross Keys PPA. Pint Pot went through to the next round with a close 5-4 verdict over local rivals Pint Pot Flights.

In the Coronation Shield Oscott Social progressed to the next round when they clinched an 8-7 win over Bromford Lions in the very last leg of the match. Biggest win of the round went to Sutton Sports, formerly Midland Red, who beat the Fox 13-2. Sportsmans Rest were not far behind with their 12-3 win over Aston Social. Royal Oak Ruffians won their tie with Deer’s Leap Flight 8-7. There were 180’s from M.Wild (Sutton Sports) and S.Baker (Deer’s Leap Flights).

Brook Meadow suffered their first defeat of the campaign in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, going down 5-4 at Shirley RBL. Due to Mackadown Social also losing 5-4 against Shard End RBL, Shirley have moved up from third to second in the table and Mackdown have dropped one position.

In division one Sheldon Heath Social have taken over pole position from Scanlons after beating Yardley Ex Flights 7-2, Scanlons 6-3 loss at Kingshurst Labour Club has seen them drop to third in the table. Stechford Social are now second following their 7-2 win at Small Heath Gardeners Flights.

Willclare Sports and Social maintained their 100% start to the season in division two with a close 5-4 home win over Small Heath Amateur Gardeners.
