This coming weekend will see Warwickshire County Darts Organisation kick off their season in division one of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships. The curtain raiser will be an away game against Hertfordshire, which is being staged at the Shamrock Club, Ridgeway, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 2AD.

Bob Nixon began his fixtures in the Olton Double Top League this week with a 2-1 win over Dave Hutchings, but then he moved up a gear to beat Paul Nunn 3-0 and Jim Norris 2-1 and hit two maximums against both opponents. Andy Hutchings has moved up into second place with 3-0 wins against Simon and Brian Edwards to give him 66 points five adrift of Nixon. Tony Randell slipped into third spot after 2–1 wins over Lee Harris, Neal Clarke and Rhys Duncan.
Highlight of the week was provided by Phil Randell who in his 3-0 win over Tim Lowe he recorded a maximum checkout of 170.

As the Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League fast draws to an end Ian McFarlane holds a massive eight point’s lead over the rest of the field. In his week 14 fixtures he suffered a 2-1 reversal at the hands of Tony Comerford, however, he quickly bounced back to hand out a 3-0 defeat to Jake Smith. Mark Birch is in second place, he also had a 2-1 setback as he lost to John Burdett, but he also then recorded a 3-0 win in his tie with Terry Blakemore, hitting 3×100,2×140,125 and a 180. Ross Macken was the only other player to hit a maximum in his game against Tony Comerford who got the all important 2-1 win.

The Sheldon and District Summer League had the quarter finals of their Mrs F.Richman Trophy on the fixtiure card. All four games finished with close 4-3 results. Biggest shock of the round was that of group two’s Mackadown Social’s win over leaders of group one Saltley Amateur Gardeners. In the all group one tie Shirley RBL beat Bromford Bridge Members Club. Other games saw Brook Meadow and RAFA in turn defeat Sheldon Dukes and Small Heath Gardeners Flights.

Smethwick Labour Club had a setback to their division title aspirations in the Harborne and District Summer League as they went down 5-4 at third in the table Hillyfields ’A’. The result has thrown the title wide open as second in the table Midland Red won their home game against Quinborne 7-1 and are now on the same 20 points as Smethwick and only behind on average. Hillyfields are third with just two points fewer than the leading duo.
In the second division Old Crown kept their title hopes on course with a 5-4 win away to Quinton Members Club to give them a four points lead over Bartley Green F.C. who have a game in hand.

Although there were only 32 entries to the South Birmingham Ladies Open the quality of player and standard of darts play was top draw. Stirchley United WMC was the setting for the knockout and the lady to collect the winners guaranteed £300 first prize was Ellesmere Port representative Anastasia Dobromyslova, who defeated local Warwickshire county player Lesley Newcombe in the final.
